    • The Violent SHifters are playing a show Friday, December 16th in River Falls, WI and are looking for another band to share the bill with!

This will be an after party for a TV Show production that The Violent SHifters will be on at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, along with John Eckley of the infamous old school Mpls, garage band "The Novas" so this should be a damn good time!

Please PM me for details and thanks for your consideration!

    • maybe try duff's garage, club 21, or the queen of hearts for car club culture.

tons of garage punk bands and venues! Mean Jeans, Youthbitch, Suicide Notes, the cry!, The Lordy Lords, etc... not to mention the group whose single i just put out- The No Tomorrow Boys. check out PC-PDX.com.

Surf is harder to come by. Guantanamo Baywatch is the hot band on the scene right now...Kinda look like hipster idiots, but the music is really good if you can get past that.

    • Yep. Tis a sad, sad day. We just got the opportunity to play the ballroom with Supersuckers and Nashville Pussy. It was rad!

Good news is: New Years Eve looks like one hell of a punk show. The Dopamines are STELLAR.

New location may be better too...we'll see.

    • We're lucky to be playing one of the last shows there this month with the Koffin Kats. So sad to see it go.

    • Management of Southgate House in Newport, KY closing the doors after the Dec. 31, 2011 show. :-( Wish I could have gotten there more often, but I'm a non-smoker & can't handle the asphyxiation in many clubs that allow smoking. SH finally implemented a non-smoking policy in 2 of their rooms this year.

Current management reportedly opening in a new venue & Southgate House may open under new management in the future.

    • Dig the songs! Bliss is a great pop rocker. Some kind of groove has a great mid 70's feel to it. Picking up a Ramones/Johnny Thunders/Badfinger vibe.

      Keep it up!

I'll be sure to check out the Brauerhouse. Thanks!

And I've been to Reckless records, I actually bought Shattered by The Exploding Hearts there the first time I ever went to Chicago. It was pretty great.
I'll be sure to check the record stores in Evanston out.

    • Hey.
I just recently moved to Cedar Rapids,Ia from Georgia and I was wondering where
some good record stores, recording studios, gigs and other things are at in the area.

My girlfriend lives in Chicago, so I'm over there a lot too and I've been to a few cool record stores but no shows and I've yet to find any local recording studios.
      Any help would be appreciated.
