Thank you!
Thank you!
Try Davies in Kansas City and Record Bar in Lawrence. They can probably tell you if they have some space.
Pizzas was cancelled, anyways. Fucking Irene!
Saw the Pizzas at Cakeshop with Barreracudas and Los Vigilantes a couple months ago. Great show.
Me! Me! Me!
Anyone going to Personal and the Pizzas/ Home Blitz this Saturday at Death By Audio?!
I'd actually be more excited about seeing Human Eye. Love that band. Unfortunately, I'm way too far away.
I'll be there!
I may be going to this, and I wanted to see if anyone from this wonderful board was also going or thinking about it. The Lineup is:
Human Eye
The Babies
Mikal Cronin of [Charlie and the] Moonhearts
and of course, Ty Segall.
Chinese Telephones are from Milwaukee. I went to one of their weddings, so I should know. They're great, though.
As far as the Wax Museums, I can't say enough good things about them. One of the best punk bands around right now. And The Mind Spiders, Women in Prison, Alex Cuervo (of The Hex Dispensers) put out a solo EP that's awesome, Occult Detective Club, Potential Johns.
Lord High Fixers and The Motards, also, but I think they're both defunct. And as far as defunct bands, you should check out early Dicks and Bobby Soxx.
Unfortunately, I missed it too due to unforeseen circumstances.

Hey gina and josta, go check out my response to the General Discussion question "any good gigs on the go @ chicago?" I noticed it last night, and left a huge reply. Sorry, I have not checked the Midwest Group for a while and missed your question. There are some great events going on TODAY, Thursday August 25th, through Monday August 29th!!! Sorry for not responding earlier to your queries. Have Fun!!!
On Monday August 29th my new favorite masked band from Chicago (not counting The Goblins) The Hamburglars are playing a free show at The Exit along with The Shakes (from Seattle). The Exit is located at 1315 W. North Ave. in Chicago. Along with the regular cheap drinks, there will be free hamburgers for all!!!
I cannot stress how much your friend should go to the Delilah's party. She will be totally blown away, and will meet lots of nice people. She should introduce herself to Mike Miller's wife Sallie, what a great person she is! As for the Cobra Lounge show, the band to see for me is the Beer Nuts. They are the Chicago underground scene in a nutshell (wow, I made a funny). Members of Ministry, Lost Cause, Rights of the Accused, and then some. Their drummer is a hot chick they refer to as "Dickless." It will be beer soaked mayhem!!! Also, a chance to see Pegboy, especially in Chicago, is one not to be missed!!! Again, friend me, and let me know how much fun she had.
I lived in Chicago for years, and visit frequently. Tonight Thursday August 25th is the Delilah's 18th anniversary party!!! If she wants to go to something totally crazy, then this is it. I worked at Delilah's for about 8 years, and let me tell you, Mike Miller (owner) pulls out all the stops and spares no expense, to throw the best party you have ever been to. Chuck Wren (Jump Up Records) will be spinning Ska. The first bottle of Delilah's 18yr "single cask" Bourbon will be opened (plus many more). There will be live music (the band is not mentioned, so that means something to BIG to put in the add). And, to top it all off, Fisto the Clown (think Shakes the Clown... very drunken) will be bothering people all night. So tell her to call in sick to work on Friday, and take a cab to the bar, 'cause she may not remember going home after this one!!! Also, tell her to hunt Mike down, and tell him Andrew Malcolm told her to come. So friend me, and let me know how the night turned out.A typical night at Delilah's

well it looks like i'll be in baltimore & d.c. myself in a few weeks for several days and nights. need some scoops of what to do so i don't go outta my skull. is any of the above info still true? those are some old posts. had to blow the dust off 'em. looking for any rock'n'roll-friendly bars, venues, record stores, the usual shit. not interested in lame "indie rock" places, either. looking for REAL grit!
Through some holy or unholy miracle, my band Sex Offender got the opening slot for Nico Vega this time. I hope some of you will come see things go down on Aug 31 at The Mix in Seattle. I can't imagine it not being an epic evening of unbridled rock.
I wouldn't even go if my OWN band were playing. Baaahh humbug!
Cool. Maybe I'll camp out at the door. Or maybe the memory from '09 Budget Rock will have to suffice.
