    • Dude, I'm re-forming my combo, psycho a go-go and we're looking for a drummer. We have guaranteed gigs, great originals, vintage gear. The slot is open. for bass player also. We already have the name recognition and will have a lot of support once we start playing.

    • There is a rather spread out but large garage and surf movement in the Carolinas. Look for the bands Blood Red River, Aqualads, Monterreys, Killer Filler and many others. This May marked the 2nd or 3rd annual "Instro Summit" in Chapel Hill, NC. It was 3 nights of the best instro/garage/surf that the east coast/southeast has to offer. We were honered to take part. It will be happening again in 2011 so I would certainly keep an eye out if I were you.

As for us, we have been doing spradic tours through the Carolinas. Most recently we hit Charlotte and Asheville. We plan on returning some time after the first of the year.

    • Hello,

I'll be in Chicago from mid to the end of August and I don't know the city.

I can't find online any websites with garage punk, punk rock, rock and roll (...) shows and/or dj sets, bars and stuff like that.

If anyone would like to give me a little help I'd be the happiest cow in town.

Thank you so much, you can make my two weeks in the windy city either a hell, a bore or a party!

    • The Remains at The Basement

      When: Wed., Aug. 10, 9 p.m.
      Price: $10
Holy rock ’n’ roll miracle, Batman — The Remains are playing at The Basement! Wait a second, that needs a few more exclamation points and some capital letters — THE REMAINS ARE PLAYING AT THE BASEMENT!!! For the unfamiliar, The Remains, led by longtime Nashvillian Barry Tashian, are possibly the greatest garage-rock band of the ’60s, and they not only possess all the wild primal energy that makes the genre great but also have more chops and musical skill than the rest of the genre’s proprietors put together. Tracks like “Don’t Look Back” and “You Got a Hard Time” epitomize everything that makes rock ’n’ roll great — the fuzz, the fury, the fun all flying by at 45 R.P.M. The sad thing is most of the world beyond their hometown of Boston never really caught on — except some band called The Beatles, who drafted them to open their final tour. Whatever: THE REMAINS ARE PLAYING AT THE BASEMENT!!!

    • after seeing the ettes and the heavy cream last night, with some really kick ass female drummers... I'm not sure if I should play anymore. I felt like I'm too old and unskilled. Being unskilled (read "suck at playing") is acceptable and in some cases even cool when you are young. Not when you are 30.

    • On the band and musicians group there is a discussion on Apr 26 which says exactly what I am looking for:
People to start a band like the oblivians, gories, loli and the chones, first donnas.
Even the location is correct: Cambridge.
Wrong continent, cause I'm in Massachusetts.
Girls and guys in the Boston area call me (virtually, I mean write me)

No boston green-line punk hardcore style.

      What can I play?
      Nothing technically well.
I would like to play the drums. better if I can use the bikini voodoo drumset (snaredrum, floortom and one ride cymbal, standing)
I could sing but I don't want to because my voice isn't special and I have an accent.
I could sing backing vocals though.
We need a guitar or two, and or a keyboard/organ something. The bass in my experience is not really necessary.

See my profile to know more about me. Then write me to stop this miserable attitude I have, wishing to play but doing nothing to make it real, not even trying.

If you have suggestions on where to find people intrested, that would also be good.

    • That's kind of a big question for just one topic. In fact, it's why the group exists. I'd say if you're looking for info on specific CITIES, then post something. But if you're looking for tips on the entire Western U.S., then just peruse the discussion topics already here.

    • We're going on a year and a half now with the monthly, I've just been trying to branch out where it's advertised for a broader audience. Glad you noticed! So where are you these days?

    • No shit...Glad to see some cool stuff happening out and around one of my old haunts. (Lived in Auburn for a few years back in the early to mid nineties)
