    • This was a very good show and proves that just because you are proficient, you don’t have to play crappy music. The seasonal classics by Los Straitjackets, (Halloween Movie Theme and Classics IV: Spooky were appreciated. I hadn’t seen Big Sandy in several years and expected them to be more western swing but w/o the steel, it was very rock and roll/rockabilly. Very nice. I especially liked the encore with both bands playing together.
Beer advocate is just wrong for giving Lemp a C-. If you can find a better commonly available lager, I wish you’d buy me one (or twelve).

    • I'll be there as a spectator along with a special guest appearance of Malcolm Robertson (Bourbon Knights, Hippie Repellent).  I'll be looking forward to some Lemp.

    • I saw that The 5678s are playing at Third Man Records in Nashville, TN on October 22nd if this is helpful to anyone.

    • October 18, 2010 2:09 PM CDT
    • There were alot of people there. The opening band was fairly good, I'd give them a B. They seemed like nice people and had a sense of humor so that brought the grade up from a C+. 5678s played for a good long time; 3 encores, I think. There was a good mix of originals and covers. They added a piano player for a few songs (Great Balls Of Fire stood out to me). Killer fuzz on the guitar. You could tell the band were having a good time, especially near the end when Omo did her screaming. I had a real hoot and I'm glad I went.

Cool, those are two of my favorite tracks! If you've noticed your MySpace plays have gone up significantly in the past few days, that's because I've been listening to Los Diablos Blancos a lot. I wish I had known about you guys when you were together.

As far as jamming, you got the thumbs up from Jeff and I, but we're still waiting to hear back from our bass player, Mike. By any chance, would you be able to play any supplemental keyboard parts? You wouldn't need to have keys, just wondering if you can play at all?
I can make noise on anything mostly proficient on guitar however. Let me know when and where.

Huge sigh of relief... Those guys suck! LOL... Checked out your myspace page, I really dig your stuff. "Moon Elevator" sounds like an out-take from The Pretty Things' 'S.F. Sorrow' LP. I love it! "Love's Hope" is pretty fucking amazing, too. Your singer sounds like the dude in the Ro-D-Ys, the old Dutch band from the 60's. Is that you playing drums in Los Diablos Blancos? I remember The Netptunes by name only, but I'm sure Jeff (ex-Dollface, ex-The Bugs) will remember Larry. BTW, Jeff used to co-own Chocolate Ladyland with Dave Moe. I see the Bugs are in your top friends, as are Dick Taut & The Ripcords. The Jeffs from The Bugs are two of my best friends, and I've been a fan of Dick Taut & The Ripcords since I discovered them on mp3.com a decade ago. Those guys cracked me up.

Jeff and I are road-tripping down to the St. Louis area tomorrow to play pinball at C.P. Pinball. I just sent him a text message and I'm sure we'll talk more about it tomorrow. As far as I'm concerned, you got my vote, but I have to clear it with Jeff and Mike first. I'll keep you posted!

No thats not the Los Diablos Blancos. My brother in Law Larry who was our bass player was in the Neptunes who used to play with DollFace. Thats cool about the practice thing these things don't often come together if it works out thats great if not no problem. http://www.myspace.com/losdiablosblancospeoria
In Los Diablos we all wrote songs and added to each others material. Loves Hope and Elevator to the moon were mine. I was the singer and guitar on those. I'd love to jam with you guys sometime. Its hard to find people I connect with musically.

    • I'm coming to New York next May, assuming they'll still be open then, which are the best record stores for garage and punk vinyl. I'd like to find somewhere that stocks a lot of Norton stuff as well as smaller labels I can't get in the UK. All suggestions welcome.

    • Howdy, y'all.  I'm writing to ask if any surf/garage/rock n' roll bands in the Northeast want to discuss show trades.  We're Beware The Dangers Of A Ghost Scorpion!, an instrumental Horror-Surf combo from Boston.  We're down with a ton of cool clubs/house venues in this area and would love to discuss getting a trade going on.  Also, any info on cool house venues in the Maine to Maryland region would be awesome!  Clubs are great, but we really dig basements.  Get in touch and we'll get the ball rolling!

      Fears,
      V.V. Delambre, BTDOAGS!
