Now, don't worry this isn't a Rankin/Bass production, which I have to say I quite like, but I can understand those that shun TV specials. I first saw the puppet mouse Topo Gigio on a Japanese made movie "Topo Gigio and the Missile War" which has nothing to do with Christmas and I highly. Well, I'm gonna have to cut this trip short and head back to Japan. Like most adopted holidays in here, it's a commercialized shopping frenzy with not much real meaning, actually Xmas is a big date day for couples so it's more like Valentine's, but that's not to say there hasn't been anything hip to come out here, I recommend this GS/instro EP I recently got by The Blue Comets!

I think I'm on the same level as most that posted on the thread, it's all about what you make it. Anyway, these are only some of the Xmas treasures I like to break out this time of the year. I'm very stoked cause I'll be DJ-ing at three Xmas parties later this month and I'm excited to show off my collection cause it's the only time I can spin these records!

You guys didn't have a really bad experience watching these shows while on LSD did you?

Crocodile would make for an interesting feast! I've never had it or any of the other animals you've just listed, ha! It used to be a tradition when I was growing up to have oyster stew for breakfast, which I believe is what the French do. Then when I reached the drinking age, me and Dad would do some oyster shooters...But my folks are divorced now, and that yuletide tradition died when they split.

Yeah, personally I think more people wouldn't have such a negative attitude towards the holiday if they made it what they wanted it to be. Sure I can understand what can turn you off about it all, but if all that was tuned out, I think they could enjoy it so much better.

Looking forward to your Xmas themed show, I'll be sure to check it out. I had contemplated doing one, but December is a very full month for me, with lots on my plate, so it may be the beginning of January before I can throw out the next "40 Oz. Nonsense". We'll see, but I'm sure if it is in December it won't be 'til after Christmas, so it wouldn't make any sense to do a holiday-themed show.

From what I heard, there's nothing in the Bible that says Jesus's birth should be celebrated. The religious aspect taken care of, what do I think are good Christmas/Winter Soltice traditions?

Yeah, it's a great movie, but I've watched it so many times that I just don't consider it a necessary tradition anymore. I remember when it came to the theater here back in the day, and it flopped. I guess people didn't think that the man behind the "Porky's" films was capable of delivering a true modern day classic. Luckily he lived long enough to see his beloved film become a cult favorite. It still gets a special showing on the big screen at one of the local movie theaters around here when it gets closer to Christmas.

There was a book written on Rankin/Bass, and I as I recall, it was quite detailed. I saw it in a Barnes & Noble some years back, but I'm sure if you search do a search on Amazon's website on them, something will come up.

I've always been a big fan of the space programme...shame 'costs' have crippled it so much...there will come a day in the far future when our Sun will begin to die and turn into a red giant...then you'll see politicians and governments throwing cash at it so they can get their asses to somewhere safe...I regret I won't be able to see man's first landing on Mars...I guess I'll be dead by then...

I, like a lot of people, dream about going to space. One of the two last things i have to do before dying.

I was just thinking about that, since they discover a earth-twin planet, i was wondering if i would like to be part of the mission ( if the travel was in anyway possible) , i told myself : "i could bring 2 or 3 iPod full of music, but it seems useless as long as i'll want to go see the bands i listen too , which would be not possible anymore , expect if we can assure there's a "rock" scene in the new planet and if they got X-ray guitars.

Don't know anymore if i want to leave earth without any chance to come back, of course if aliens want to take me, i'll accept, i'll probably find a way to come back home stealing a flying saucer.

new space we got is the internet and the only upcoming challenge is travelling

to MARS.

What do think about all this ? Is somebody here who also would like to be part

of the first manned mission to the " bringer of war " ?

Learned Computer stuff in the 80's with a Tandy somethingorother. Worked for a guy who was Mac/Apple obsessed. Even started writing macros to link our shipping computers and printers together.

Then came the DNC server based CNC equipment.

I bought my first PC in the early 90's and never really looked back. Since then ALL my design and engineering software is PC based. No choice. Recently there have been a few attempts at Mac based solid modeling software but it's like, token software if you get my drift.

Macs are wonderful things for some people but not for others. Blind brand loyalty blows.

They look like they will tip over at any time and handle badly. They show themselves up for what they are on the track. Like the boy racers, they're people with no taste or sense of appropriateness. If you drag race, you put on Minilites.

The DONKS are rediculous.  I saw one when I lived in Atlanta (or the ATL if you prefer) that was "Cool Whip" themed with an empty bucket of whip dangling from the back bumper.

My favorite bubble top is Ron Agguires X-Sonic!  Bar none!  It's so fukin' futuristic looking and bad ass!!  The first car with hydraulics etc.  From a style aspect it's beautiful!  Low on the front, meats in the back, extended front fenders, fins....it just looks fast as shit sitting still!!!  Oh yeah...and the bubble.  The Atomic Punk is perty close though...

I would say the Road Agent and The Mysterion!  The Reverbians have a song about the Mysterion.

The hot tub jump was awsesome!  That would be awesome with a neon car and blacklights. I remember my tracks and trying to find just the right car to run them- I was always bummed because my favorites wouldn't run well.

I also had these cars called DARTA, I think.  They had their own motors.
