One more man gone...

One crazy guy. He would turn down roles for movies that ended up being huge(except Speed, he accepted that) and star in something that went nowhere except to Dennis Hopper fans. But even then, his roles were memorable.

That's what i wanted to occure from this conversation. And till now noone has told me that he liked-agreed with the ending.

Yeah, you're right. There's no way you were supposed to root for Jamie Foxx. Thats why I thought the film ended up being a shambles though. Had it been a low budget independent film... maybe we'd have gotten the more controversial ending.
That's the problem with films like this. Not only are we supposed to "get off" on the sadistic behavior of the villain for 2 hours, we are then expected to take the moral high ground at [literally] the last minute.
It's uneven... It's unsatisfying... it's Hollywood!

Listen, through the movie, jamie fox was shown as an arrogant and selfish lawyer who only cared about money and fame, and it could be seen tha he would be punished in the movie, but instead of being punished,he won too.The "good american" beat the outlaw again. ixnayray said:
You are correct, I think the best ending would have been for Gerard Butler's plan to work... but they wimped out as expected.

ok next time i will post there.I was thinking an alternative ending and this was the easiest one to think. But come on they made up this awesome scenario by themselves,i would never think of it,so it was up to them to make up a good ending.Anyway they can't change it now.

I saw it the other night. It was pretty good but it went downhill after the Judge/phone scene. And the ending? Well, I couldn't really see it ending any other way. I think when they [the film makers] got to the end they remembered Gerard Butler was supposed to be the bad guy, because the audience must clearly have been rooting for him for the most part! I recommend posting movie related stuff here in future : http://garagepunk.ning.com/group/talkintrash

It was such a good movie,i enjoyed it so much(especially when the judge picked up the phone),but the ending was so sh***y that destroyed the wholle movie feelling.

One of my best sports memories is living in Germany in '90 during the World Cup when their national team made it to the finals. I remember walking through the village I lived in and hearing the semifinal game coming from just about every open window. I watched the final along with my landlord in his living room, getting hammered on top-shelf scotch. Curse that damn Diego Maradona!
However, I'm just too much of a sports junkie to be able to stay with an event that only happens every 4 years, and too much of a homer to avidly follow any team but the U.S., and we ain't so hot in WC tournies.....sigh.

the best ever! i spent most of my childhood (when not watching monster movies or wrestling) watching demolition derby on tv...and recreating it with all mt toy cars & model cars (which i still have 40 years later). My dad once woke me up very early one saturday morning & got me outta bed, threw me in the car & we drove for a long long time, all the way he wouldn't say what was up. we finally pulled into some raceway in long island for an all day demolition derby event! i was in heaven. i have some great vintage posters from them & if ya ever listen to my radio show, i have a great theme song (a rocker!) from some demo derby movie...
May 25, 2010 11:12 AM CDT
I haven't been to a demo derby since I was a kid. I don't even know if we have any figure-8 racing tracks around here, but I'd love to find out!
