    • OK,nothing can compares to the unique, amazing american muscle cars, but every country has its own car history, and its own treasures. I'll test this theme here,to see how many of you may be interested in.
After all, what the Rock'n'Roll would be without cars? So let me know what you think and if it is an argument rich enough to make a group about. (In my albums page I posted an italian vintage cars gallery, check it if you want)

    • @Andy Rampage :
I remember "Mad Monkey Kung Fu" as a decent Kung Fu comedy with Liu Chia-Liang and Hsiao Hao training in the mountain and doing great Monkey figures together but I guess I should watch it again some day.
"Hsiao Hou as: "MONKEY" just 'has TO' BE SEEN TO BE BELIEVED!!" YES ! This I remember ! A real Monkey !

About "Human Lanterns" : I found a copy (in France) about 5 years ago, stole it, lost it and never found it again ...!!!

      @ixnayray :
Well, I've never seen "Entrails of a virgin". Should try this someday !
Japanese cinema can really be fucked up indeed ! And I love that !
But I guess this is another discussion !

Back to the Shaw Brothers, has someone ever seen "Bamboo House of Dolls" ?
No Kung Fu this time but some kind of HK "women in cages" movie.

    • The 36th Chamber Of Shaolin - Thats another personal fave of mine. I personally think the Shaw Brothers back catalogue is a real minefield though... theres alot of crap out there. Having said that, much like the music we know and love, you have to sift through the garbage to find the gold!

By the way, if you ever feel like watching something truly fucked up... It has to be Entrails Of A Virgin. You're gonna need a shower after that one Mr. Preacher... YOWZA!!!

Yeah, I saw "King Boxer" when I was a kid and it definitively changed my life !!! (Who's laughing in the back ???)
"8th diagram pole" and the "One armed swordsman" serie are great too.
I like a little less the "5 deadly venoms".

I'd highly recommend "The boxer from Shantung" by Chang Cheh.
"Killer clans" and "Clans of intrigue" by Chu Yuan are cool ones too.
Oh, let's add "The blood brothers" by Chang Cheh and what about the "Human lanterns" by Suen Chung ?
And so on, and so on...Someone stop me or I'll make an endless list !

    • That's a cool link, thanks Freddi.

Do you know where I would find info about any of the crazy Italian Z-grade zombie movies that were made in the 70's? I've seen a couple and they were super trashy and incredibly violent.

    • January 26, 2010 3:02 PM CST
    • I guess everybody knows about the italian 70's b-movies,often mentioned by Quentin Tarantino. Those violent cops and ruthless criminals stories that weren't not so much far from real facts of those years..Italian cinema released a hundred of those movies ,and though they have never been well-reviewed,found a real public success yet.
None of them a masterpiece for sure, but a funny half-way throw cruel and comic.
So for those who don't know enough, and ones who want to know more..

'SOUNDS like' a pretty interesting Read!! YOU finnish it Yet??
Yeah, it was pretty good. Not perfect, but it got me to watch a bunch of his films, and some old "Johnny Staccato" episodes. So bonus points for that. I just re-read Please Kill Me, and that was great. Best oral history I've ever read. Interesting to note that so much of my favorite music was made by complete fuck-ups and drug addicts. And I gotta say that Wayne/Jayne County was a no-talent poser and Handsome Dick Manitoba got a raw deal...

Accidental Genius: How John Cassavetes Invented the American Independent Film by Marhsall Fine. It's a pretty decent overview of Cassavetes' life and career. Makes me want to sit through The Killing of a Chinese Bookie again.

    • It's a true testament to Roddy McDowall's talent that around the same time he also starred in The Loved One, Planet of the Apes, The Cool Ones, "The Bookworm" on Batman (1966), Inside Daisy Clover, and God knows what else. One of the true underrated talents of the cinema, always entertaining to watch.

Ok, I'll try to click a thousand times on it then !
I love "Two-Lane Blacktop", one of my favorites too.
Warren Oates is wonderful as usual, the non-professional actors are great and Monte Hellman is one of my favorites director. By the way, I'd highly recommend to watch "The Shooting" and "Ride the whirlwind" where he treats the western movies quite the same way he treats here the race movies.
And if you love low budget sci-fi movies (and I know do), I guess you'd probably already watched the cool "Beast from the Haunted Cave", his first movie, produced by Roger Corman.

@Kopper : Yeah, I love "Vanishing Point" too ! As you said, two GREAT race movies, if not the GREATESTS !
(By the way, did you know I found my stupid pseudo after a projection of "Vanishing Point"... Remember Super Soul the Dj ? You got it !)
WHO would 'GO-ON' to Still EVEN more FAME .. as: "Sheriff Black Bart" IN:"BLAZING SADDLES"!! haven't seen T.L.B. .. IN MANY AN AGE..."Good Call!!" SOME ONE WANT TO 'Sport' this Old boy.. a copy?? for:"viewing purposes", Of Course!!
