That could be in the US or Canada, where we would have friends to help us to bring the records to Brazil and stuff.

I never heard On The Road South before. Ya, it's definitely an extended version of the heavy middle section of Defecting Grey, "night star hangs in blackness...". Very cool. 

Well, I read somewhere on the You Tube that "On The Road South" is a cover version of "Defecting Grey"...

Dead Boy , "Defecting Grey" and"On The Road South" are two of the best freakouts recorded. It does'nt hurt that they sound so much alike.

I was'nt able to get sound on these videos , but , I'll try again , later....No , I'm not familiar with that series. I did , recently , pick up the Japanese version of "Love , Flowers and Poetry" . Great stuff.

Dennis Dunaway is featured prominently in the doc and there's a little bit of Neal Smith, but no one else for the original lineup. Unless I missed it. You only hear the interviewees voices, you never see their faces, which I think was a good idea on the film maker's part.

The most interesting part of the doc is Alice coming clean about quitting alcohol but then developing a heavy cocaine addiction. Something he had long denied until now. 

JES , Yes, that's Cooper in all his glory. I lovethe comic book ads behind them , too. THE BAND WAS FIRING ON ALL EIGHT CYLINDERS. There's a great clipof "Public Animal #9" , for the same show , with a very "Velvets" intro and trippy multicolored graphics....

Michael's not in it , at all? I know an ex - member of his band , and , well , let's just day Bruce did some things he should'nt have to someone who helped him.....I don't know why he would'nt seize the opportunity to be outspoken , unless he's in hiding or in jail. He tears Alice a new one in his book , "No More Mr. Nice Guy" , tho' , of course , they made peace and the surviving ACG members have done several reunion gigs, since.

Bruce made a good point , to him , Alice Cooper was the group. But Vince Furnier had his name legally changed to Alice Cooper  and while the others were on vacation , and starting new projcts ,  together and separately (Most notably , Billion Dollar Babies , Flying Tigers and Neal Smith doing a stint with The Plasmatics.). THE IDEA WAS , THEY'D DO THEIR SOLO LPS , THEN REGROUP AT A LATER DATE.

Did'nt happen. Alice had aspirations of expanding on the theatrics that the others were getting tired of.  Alice owned the name , so , naturally , he was going to come back with a slicker version of his earlier show . This , of coure ,was a huge success . Sadly , Glen Buxton's drinking problem was so severe , he often played , unpluged , while Mick Mashbir would play his parts behind a curtain.

Alice was still in denial about his drinking , bu t, he was a pro. HE RECRUIED TO NO - NONSENSE GUITARS , Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter who'd , collectively , put in time wih Frost , Mitch Ryder and Detroit , and Lou Reed. Does'nt mean they were better than Bruce and Buxton , just more dependable.

Cool doc. I just wish it featured Michael Bruce, he wrote most of Alice's early classics. I'd love to hear his thoughts on Alice taking the band name and ditching the original lineup. 

Sweet, I'm looking forward to it. Doesn't get any better than Alice. This right here has always been one of my favorite performances.

JES , YOU'RE IN FOR A REAL TREAT. I HAVE'NT SEEN THE COOP IN ABOUT 10 YEARS (HIS LARGE SUBURBAN WHITE TRASH FOLLOWING NECESSITATES THAT HE DOES'NT PLAY IN CHICAGO , PROPER , ANYMORE , IT SEEMS.) , BUT I'VE NEVER SEEN HIM FAIL. HE'LL REEL OFF A BUNCH OF "DEEP CUTS" (IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE!) AS WELL AS THE BETTER KNOWN STUFF. HE ALWAYS HAS A GREAT BAND , AND THE HUMOR AND THE HORRORGET EQUAL TIME......HIS LOVELY DAUGHTER, CALICO , USED TO DANCE AS DIFFERENT CHARACTERS (HER BRITTNEY SPEARS , COVERED IN PEPSI LOGOS , WAS ALWAYS A SHOW - STOPPER.) , MAYBE SHE STILL DOES(?). AS A SINGER , HE COULD BITCH SLAP HIS METAL "PEERS" ANY TIME OF THE DAY.  HE USED TO CLOSE WITH A COVER SONG CHOSEN AT HIS DISCRETION.  I've seen him close with "My Generation" , "Fire'' (Jimi Hendrix) and "Saturday Night's Allright For Fighting". Don't know if he still does that......BUT , BE READY FOR A LOT OF FUN.

Documentary looks awesome, can't wait to see it.  I'm gonna be seeing him live this July.  Of all my favorite bands/musicians, he's one of the few I haven't seen yet.

Still no sign of it , though , they tell me it's out.

...IT DOES'NT SURPRISE ME THAT HENRY would TRY to produce a record on Manson , unless it was after  he witnessed his best friend's murder , and would have surely said "I don't want to get involved with  a serial killer.". If it is'nt true , it is'nt true , as vastly overrated as Henry is , in my humble opinion , I give him props for geting behind actual musical geniuses , like Roky and the monks , that never masterminded human slaughter . IF IT'S TRUE OR NOT , I'll sleep like a baby.

I know GG Allin was a friend of Gacy's, but Henry Rollins producing Charlie Manson? It's the stuff of urban myth, it just makes a good story that, if true, shows that reality reality has eclipsed satire.

Never heard of  The COUNTRY ALBUMS. I know he did a Country EP. Of course "Scumfuc Tradition " was a rewriting of "Family Tradition by Bocephus Williams ( Sorry , in my book there is no Hank II OR III , even tho I found a CD by "III" for a dollar , and it's not bad , though his voice sounds like Dale Gribble.....I saw him , once , in the 90's,  and it was BEYOND godawful.)

and "Outlaw Scumfuc" was a rewrite of "Longhaired RednecK" by David Allen Coe  , whose X-Rated albums probably influenced GG a lot...... 

HE DID "sPOKEN WORD" PERFORMANCES AND RECORDINGS , clearly , the boy was'nt playing it  for laughs.

I'm not defending certain things he did , but , everyone that knew him , back then , agrees that he was just an enthusiatic rock and roller. I asked him how he got Wayne Kramer and Dennis Thompson to play with him. He said "You're the first person who ever asked me that !".He said , basically , Wayne was just jamming in clubs (Gang War had just split up and he was minus a band.) , and agreed to play. Then , he found a classified ad saying Dennis Thompson was looking for a band. Neither one had seen the other for years , so they were VERY happy about this surprise GG laid out for them  . HE DONE A MITZVAH !

GG claimed he almost got Thunders to play , as Gang War was'nt yet in rigor mortis , and Johnny seemed possibly opento playing with Wayne again. Who knows?

He did two country albums, which aren't too shabby, but I'd love to have heard him do a blues album. I can easily imagine the spoken word album he was planning to do being something with innocent silliness, as opposed to the nihilism and misanthropy that was the norm.

Cassettes... haha!

I'm really not trying to spam here, so feel free to delete this if you feel that I am. I just wanted to share this open opportunity for bands to be part of a Reddit Cassette Compilation that's looking for garage/punk/fuzz bands.

I WAS PLEASANTLY SURPISED TO FIND A CD COLLECTION ON HELLO.

HELLO KIND OF BELONGS TO THAT SECOND TIER GLAM CLUB ( Geordie , Mud , Arrows .)  , bands that did have hits , but hardly threatened to knock Bowie , Bolan, Sweet , Slade or Gary Glitter's block off....

I had a few of their songs on comps , but , most of this material is surprisingly good - Locked -in grooves , big, bad  beats (PLAYED ON REAL DRUMS.) and vocals that sound alternately sinister and slightly androgynous. Infectious pop - harmonioes soar over discordant ,  pseudo - futuristitc ,guitar/ keyboard combinations. 

"New York Groove" (Covered in the late 70's by Ace Frehley , and , more recently , by Sweet ! )

is their best known song here in the states. There are plenty of strong originals , but , their unusual reworkings of 'Bend Me , Shape Me" , "ELENORE" (TURTLES.) and even "Hi - HO , SIVER lINING' ARE HARD TO GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD. There's no info on this CD - It was made in France ,though it does say the band became huge in Germany and Japan by the time Britain had written off Glam Rock as a fad. They actually kept going until 1979 , which means , yes, they outlived First Generation Punk.

.....The other thing , Cheese , Freddie sings in a key very similar  to The Late Kent Morril of The Wailers....crossed with Noddy Holder. He COULD HAVE sang with The Wailers , though , of course , without Kent , there is no Wailers.

Even people who don't like The Cramps (CRIME!) have told me they have them to thank for turning us all on to all these crazy records from previous eras.....I did'nt know too many of the covers they were doing when I first heard them , barring "Surfin' Bird"and "Lonesome Town"...."Green Door" , my Mom had recently met the guy who wrote it , when their version came out.   A little later, of course  , I knew "PSYCHOTIC REACTION", TOO.     There were so many songs that even The Cramps did'nt have the moxie to cover (Though , if anyone could have , they could have.) , like "I Want Some of That" by Kai Ray. But , even tho' they were protective of the songs they covered. Lux and Ivy publically called Robert Gordon out for doing "The Way I Walk" after they did it. Gordon protested that anyone could do it , and ,  besides ,The Ramones covered Surfin' Bird after The Cramps , to which , Lux replied "But , The Ramones ASKED  us if they could do it....".

Still , The Cramps realized these songs that they may have popularized , first , now belonged to the world. It's The Cramps , Cramps , Cramps' world , man, we just live in it.
