The Chesterfield Kings are a great band, but it doesn't surprise me that they can be pricks.  I've never met Gregg Prevost, but I can tell from looking at him that he just lives in his own world.

I too subscribe to Sirius:)  I love Handsome Dick Manitoba, and I like Kim Fowley too, even though he comes off as such a creep.

oh and my other band The Quitters wrote an anti-kings song called 'Monkee Suit which wasn't played much at the Babiuk household.

 

the Cavestomp story is totally accurate, unbelievable, and fucking hilarious even to me! :)

 

we went on to do some US touring, Las Vegas Shakedown, SXSW, and a European tour in 2005. after that, we split up and i have no idea where anyone is. i'm still stuck in Rochester.

Not garage as such but I got an ep by the Searchers. Its got' Farmer John' on it which is a cracking track! I also got 'Meet the Dakotas' ep with The Cruel Sea which is a brilliant insrtumental.

unfortunately, there weren't too many good girl groups from the 60s.

In the cavaliers we use a Twin reverb and a Vibrosonic reverb (which is a twin with a 15" speaker) and we also have both a fender reverb tank (reissue of course)

A friend of mine have a white bandmaster with a fender reverb tank (which was used by Jan & Dean) , he plays with a strat ! He got a fucking amazing sound ! He got a real surf sound but can also have a MOAM sound,  of course itt's not the same money $$$ !

I think it may be hit or miss with Korean/Chinese made guitars. I own a Dearmond that is very well made from Korea and a Chinese Danelectro that has a binding tape issue other than that it's ~ okay. I did check out a Chinese Telecaster that was pretty crappy all the way around.

B flat at the moment...y'know if you've got something in A just move it up a fret and woah!

String the bass with flatwound strings. Set the EQ to be full and bassy. I have a GK 400RB which has a "String bass" setting. This works pretty good. Use of the left hand for fretting will need to be clear and deliberate while the right hand (Playing with FINGERS) is used to keep the time and slap. Your bassist will need to have good timing & strong hands to keep the tone from distorting though. It's not as easy as people think, but it's possible. I've played tons of Rockabilly gigs like this & I've pissed off a lot of "purists" lol.  I used to use a RI of a 51 P bass for this, but now I prefer a Jerry Jones Longhorn bass, which is basically a high end hand made version of a Danelectro longhorn.
