I live in St. John's Newfoundland, Canada, The Oldest City In North America or so the tagline for the city says. I play in the bands Mopey Mumble Mouse and The Blackened Lungs, Mopey is an experimental art punk band with roots in old school punk, hardcore, new wave, 70's rock etc, etc, etc. The Band is the brainchild of Curtis Kilfoy. In my humblest opinion, one of the best song writers the city has produced. The Blackened Lungs is more of a stoner punk rock band with a direction more towards grunge with a hint of zappa and Psychedelic rock. We play in downtown dive bars in St. John's primarily on George St. but also on Water Street. The scene is St. John's is pretty diverse. Ranging from Traditional Newfoundland music (pretty much Irish Music) to Rock, Indie Pop, Crust Punk, Shitty Cover Bands, Hip Hop, Noise Rock, Hardcore, Power Violence, it goes on and on... There are a lot of really good rock bands in the city that play noise rock, power pop, grunge rock etc. These bands, like Colonel Craze and The Hunch, Be Alright, The Drunks Rule This Place, Catmanduah, Local Tough, Monsterbator, Kill Popoff are as good as any punk rock out there and probably better. I don't know if you'd call me a punk i probably dress as punk as some ppl... but thats bullshit because punk is about being yourself in spite of whats considered trendy or cool.

The Shining, The Wire (its not a movie but its better than a movie because there is five fucking seasons of it.), A Hard Days Night, You Weren't There, The Big Lebowski, old school kung fu movies, godzilla movies, Night of The Living Dead, Dawn of The Dead, Day of The Dead, Zombi, The Sopranos, Its A Mad Mad Mad Mad World, Dracula (Bela Lugosi version) The Hammer version is pretty good to actually, Exploitation films ie; Shaft, Russ Myers films etc. again to many to name...
