Bio
Formed in 2009 by guitarist Mickey Catalina, The Boss Mustangs quickly released their first 45 on Spinout Records and started to play as many shows as they could to spread the word of Rock and Roll. They released their self titled debut album on Spinout Records in 2011 (and an extended release on Rotoscope Records in 2013). After the departure of Dave Jimenez and Henry Jay, they decided to carry on as a four piece. With the addition of new bassist Hyde Desoto they continue to play shows and are currently gearing up to record a second full length album. With equal parts heavy blues and fuzzed out psychedelic rock, The Boss Mustangs look to revive a sound and headspace lost within the dust and discarded roaches of history. Rock and Roll. Garage Punk. Heavy Psychedelic Freak-Out. Call it what you will, The Boss Mustangs are the whole thing. When you experience them for the first time, there’s no mistaking the bands love and passion for playing music and their understanding of stripped down, raw, real rock and roll. With the sounds of influences ranging from MC5, Blues Creation, Black Sabbath, The Flower Travellin' Band, Buffalo, and The Stooges, there's no denying the raw unfiltered psych rock of The Boss Mustangs.
