    • Since Apr 21st is Record Store Day, we're putting on a bash that night, right next door to Grooves Records in a place called Brennan's Beer Bistro in London Ontario.

We've got The Reply from Toronto, fairly new soul/garage/mod combo that'll blow your mind these guys are so tight! Think Spencer Davis Group 1966 and you'll get the picture!

We've got Light Bulb Alley from Montreal, Ricochet Recording artists (same label as The Gruesomes) who play fast paced rock'n'roll meets garagepunk in an alley and no one escapes alive!

We've got Weirdonia, 2 piece garagepunkers from Windsor who finally get to do a full show here in London. Last time the plug got pulled when our live to air with Weirdonia was blasting into a room full of university students trying to write an exam. Apparently there was a high failure rate on that exam!

And finally, the debut of Hamiton Ontario's soon to be garagekings, The noble Savages who just might feature some veterans of long gone garage combos.

The action starts at 9:30PM, the beer's cold and cheap and a measly $5 cover which goes to the bands.

Here's the facebook event for the bash:

And all of these bands can be found right here on the hideout!!

Thanx to Mark Smith (RIP) of The Creatures for being our poster child for this bash

    • That's a wide open question as there are a fuckload of cool Canuck bands out there right now, many of which just happen to be on this board.

Here's a few that i'm digging and apologies for the other TON that i've overlooked at the moment...

The Tranzmitors....Vancouver power/pop outfit that's been around for a few years and pumped out a lot of REALLY cool singles...fave is Dancing In The Front Row...an infectious powerpop anthem that should be blasting out of car radios everywhere!

The Pack AD...Vancouver 2 piece that are getting some airplay on the commercial stations. Don't judge them by their records, catch the live show as they are a million times wilder live!

Meisha and The Spanks....Edmonton 3 piece that are way wilder live than on the half dozen records they've released. They tour constantly so check them out when they play the dive bar in your hometown.

The Angry Dragons...Winnipeg 60's garage snotpunks!! Absolute killer live and on vinyl!

catl...3 piece primal blues stomp outta Toronto. If you dig Bukka White, Charlie Patton, memphis Minnie and Hasil Adkins then you'll dig this combo!! 3 records so far, all 40's blues style.

The Reply....Toronto soul/garage/mod combo that are Killer live!!

The Hook Up...Montreal (soon to be moving to Sask) late 60's MC5 meets psych meets Jefferson Airplane 3 piece that have released a coupla CD's and been on a garagepunk hideout comp. Live they are a ton of fun as guitarist Dave wails on the floor, in the dirt or wherever he wants.

Bad Bad Bad...2 piece outta Halifax that wail and scream and put on a really cool live show.

Lots of others to mention....Light Bulb Alley (Montreal), Weirdonia (Windsor), Mystics and TV Freaks (Hamilton), Lonesome Ghost (London...may be gone now), The Fine Print (London  60's pop/psych), The Hypnotics (Windsor), The Ottawa scene (White Wires, Mothers Children and many others), Sonic Avenues (Montreal) and all of the others i've forgotten....

    • I just want to know, with so many places in to look in Canada, what's going on for you? What are your favourite Canadian rock'n'roll bands/ scenes or labels right now? With so much land, and so many bands, who're your favourites and where do you follow them? Personally I like to check out the Weird Canada (http://weirdcanada.com/) blog, as well as this site to search for bands, especially bands from across the (publicity) dead-zone between Winnipeg and Thunder Bay. Who're you digging? Best live band you saw...favourite release...let's hear it!

    • Hey zaid, Im going to be setting up a show or two in oshawa with my band Captain Higgins http://youtu.be/i6OuBXFSVYA and my friends band Spacecraft 7 http://www.myspace.com/spacecraft7 in april.

If poison arrows are interested in playing out here then, let me know.

I could also use a guitarist for my stuff, but you would need to make it out to Oshawa on a regular basis...
