    • Hey kooper just read this post and I have been inspired by the various podcasts here on GP and I have recently been discovering lots of Latin American garage/beat/surf bands. I would enjoy doing this type of podcast the only problem is  have no radio/ podcast experience.

      p.s. i speak spanish

    • Hey guys, I'm looking for someone new to do an all-Latin American podcast with new monthly episodes to include on the GaragePunk Podcast Network that originates here on the Hideout. In the entire history of the GPPN, we've only had ONE podcast like this, but, unfortunately, the host was not able to continue doing it (which sucks because it was a great show! click hear to listen).

If you've ever thought about doing a podcast, maybe now is your opportunity. I'd prefer someone with some prior public speaking and/or radio/podcasting experience, as it's pretty difficult for someone who's never spoken into a mic before to do a show that captures their personality and displays a lot of spirit that you need to have a really great show that people will want to listen to. It would also help if you're bilingual or at least know Spanish and Portuguese as well as English. The music should also be a good mix of old vs. new stuff, and I'd expect to hear some great '60s garage/surf along with the cutting-edge new garage/punk/surf acts from the region (from Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America). If you think you have what it takes, then let me know and get to work!

    • I'm here, it's my last night and id like to meet some people! But I havent heard much back from this forum...... With my semi-Spanish I found out that the record stores are around metro stop Bella Vista. Gonna go check it out today. The first guy I asked at a cd store downtown told me that vinyl records didn't exist here anymore! Hope that there's more than just dj stuff out there..... Theres gotta be, right?

In valparaiso I saw a flyer advertising a dj night, "psico-psicadelic a go go!" and was so stoked!!! But I showed up at the time indicated, talked to some kids who took my cover charge and explained that they were waiting for the owner to leave to start the party, and sat there listening to terrible 90s rock for an hour and a half before deciding I couldn't take it anymore.

Well, tonight I'm going to a bar in my neighborhood called El Diablito, Merced 336, parque forestal, around 9. Jenni are you still here? Anyone up for a drink?

    • On February 14th 2011, numerous lonely hearts and some well-matched pairs drifted through an increasingly thick dusting of virgin snow as nighttime fell in Tokyo. Well as you know the nighttime is the right time especially for a party with a bunch of garage girl bands and a newly formed trio named the Nervous Hearts playing edgy powerpop of the '78 variety. The Nervous Hearts were the opening act to Mystery Girls Part 2. featuring all-girl bands The Harpy's, The Pappys and Kannana Speedcats. After the Nervous Hearts (featuring Taka6 from the Kizu and Toyozo & Ozawa of the fabulous Fadeaways!) got the crowed warmed up, The Harpy's generated a certain electricity as usual... yet drummer Tomo tossed homemade cookies out to everyone, further begging the question, is it a boy or is it a girl???? Bringing the cutesy charm that should be present on Valentine's Day were The Pappys! Yet don't let their coquettish 60's outfits fool you... these girls rip it to shreds on stage! Last but not least, the leather-clad ladies in Kannana Speedcats brought the Jett love that everyone was in dire need of! They melted the snow off our boots and the jade from our hearts! Also a very special thanks to DJ Sachi B for her wicked setsof psychobilly & punk rock tunes and also for taking these lovely photographs. Also a big hand to Mr. Death for his exceptional selection and getting the crowd warmed up for Kannana Speedcats with good hard rockin' tunes. Also a big hand to the elusive Mr. Death for his exceptional selection and getting the crowd warmed up for Kannana Speedcats with good hard rockin' tunes. After this sugar rush of a Valentine's day party everyone strolled off through a snowy Valentine's night just a little happier if not less lonely.

    • I love Spanish garagerock!

I love Los Saicos and saw them play in 2010- they were really good and I think they played Ana twice because everyone was so in love with it. I love El Entierro De Los Gatos the best.

Also I love the cover of Demolicion by Wau y Los Arrrghs, good to flail about to some Tatatataatayayayaya:

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPJjn4-fdhQ

I've seen Los Chicos many times and they always put on a fantastic live show- plus they've dressed in drag and challenged me to a dance-off and have also iced my ankle when I slipped in high heels on an ice-cube coming down the cement stage steps, plus "We sound Amazing but We Look Like Shit" is a pretty great song/album name it must be said (albeit in English).

      Also I love Davila 666!
