    • Oh , well , no harm done. The "Aus' would mean "From" if this were a German poster , but , obviously , it is'nt.  OH ! What's her name , from The  Embrooks ? I saw them , several times , here in the states.

    • November 18, 2014 5:58 PM CST
    • Probably not John, Thee Jezebels are an all girl English group (Ex-Embrooks, Sine Waves) from Hastings, not too far from Brighton, the poster kind of makes it look as if both bands are from Oz when it's only The High Learys.

    • Glad you liked it. Seriously , this looks like a cool show. I'll have to see if my Sheilagh from Oz knows about The(e) Jezebels. There's a really good all - female band in Adelaide called The Villenettes. I would'nt call 'em Garage , kinda hard to define. They rock.  Pete Curry from Los Straitjackets told them ,"You're already too good for South By Southwest !".

    • DEVIATION STREET

Friday November 21st - the last hurrah!

‘Tis the end of the road for Deviation Street after five years of destroying ear drums and winning hearts. Come join the final four for an extra special night of celebration.

      LIVE:

      THE FUZILLIS

A five man atomic age raunch and roll combo playing classic Las Vegas grind, one line instr-o-mentals, Link Wray grooves, a smattering of Mr Cash and the odd little vocal tune ...with a twist. If you locked Grady Gaines, Link Wray, James Brown, Nick Curran, Eddie Angel, Sandy Nelson, Spike Jones and Duane Eddy into a room, you might get The Fuzillis.

      https://www.facebook.com/thefuzillis

      DEDWARDIANS

Rock 'n' Roll from old London town. “Combining a mutual respect for 50’s rock’n’roll, lo-fi garage punk, with a touch of glam, The Dedwardians are punching out some hyper energetic live shows and winning accolades all over the place”

      https://www.facebook.com/Dedwardians

      THE SUNDAE KUPS

Crazy surf party band from Sarf London. That’s enough to get you wet hopefully.

      https://www.facebook.com/sundaekups

      ADAM & ELVIS

Reading four-piece combine their love for delectable walls of sound and their naturally primitive punk energy to create something unusual, but rather pleasing on the ears and the troubled souls. Live highlights include supporting 60 legends The Zombies.

      https://www.facebook.com/adamandelvis

In addition DJ Phil Istine will be on hand with the vintage vinyl, spinning 45s of garage, beat, & other party trash.

    • DEVIATION STREET
      Friday October 17th
      The 5th anniversary!

Deviation Street is London’s hot hang-out for desperate rock’n’rollers. You’ll see & hear the best new garage and trashy rock’n’roll bands we can find.

In addition DJ Phil Istine and guest DJ Eric Baconstrip (King Salami & The Cumberland 3) will be on hand with the vintage vinyl, spinning 45s of garage, beat, punk, & other trash.

      LIVE:
      THE BEATPACK
A bunch of scruffy mid-60s obsessed miscreants predominantly - but not exclusively - from the south-east of England, and the Hastings area in particular. They peddled a ferocious punk-tinged brand of raw, primal garage R'n'B around the UK and Europe between 1987 and 1991, recording an LP - Could You Walk On Water? - an EP and a 45 for Screaming Apple records, based in Cologne, Germany, along the way. All these recordings were produced by the legendary Billy Childish. They reformed in 2013, and released the “I’m Walkin’” 45 on State Records to much acclaim.

      THE TEAMSTERS
Welcome back lads. After their explosive start and a sensational four track EP unanimously welcomed earlier this year, the eagerly awaited debut album has just come out. Shindig! says they have “an innate ability to passionately recreate the bashing sounds of the early beat boom”. For fans of The Masonics, Headcoats, Kaisers, Milkshakes and Hamburg-era Beatles..
      https://www.facebook.com/TeamstersMusic

      THE HOWLING FIENDS
Hackney three-piece garage rock’n’roll trio, who soon will be known by new name The Beat Inn Spirit. Their second Deviation Street appearance, such did we enjoy the first.
      https://www.facebook.com/TheHowlingfiends

      THE REMNANTS
The Remnants were left over from disbanded acts The Kleek, The Higharts & Hooligan Choir. The love of The Beatles and 1960's music brought them smashing together to create a band that tried to produce classic 60's music as it should be. They have a great songwriting base too and have some really good danceable tracks that would fit snuggly in-between the classics of yesteryear.

      Slice Of Life

      ‘Love And A Lamp-post’

      Overground Records

      OVER141CD: 689492155926

OVER141LP: 689492155919 (Black vinyl with bonus CD)

      Release date: 27th October 2014

On the way home from the Australian & New Zealand Last Supper Tour in 2011; Carol, Pete and Steve Ignorant found themselves stranded due to the Chile ash cloud. During the long night gazing at the lights of Sydney reflecting on life while drinking beers, Slice Of Life was born. They performed their first gig in The Horseshoe Inn at Wellingborough on the 25th October 2013 and never looked back.

Slice Of Life is an opportunity for Steve to explore the more contemplative side to his songwriting. A far cry from the aggression of Crass maybe, with the songs in an acoustic setting of: piano, acoustic guitar and upright bass, but nonetheless compelling as Steve opens both heart and soul when reflecting on life and then reminds us just why we should never give up on this world or on each other with his poems and songs that make us think about the world around us and reminds us just why we should still care.

Impossible to categorise, Slice Of Life’s first album is up-front and soul-baringly personal. It’s a mixture of songs and spoken word that draws you in and stays with you long after the final note has been played.

Steve: ‘Years ago I read a book called Brighton Rock, for days the atmosphere of that story stayed with me and I’ve always wanted to create an album that would have that same effect on people.’

Steve Ignorant is a singer/songwriter and co-founded the anarcho-punk band Crass with Penny Rimbaud in 1977. Apart from doing spoken word performances as a solo artist, he also performed with Conflict, Schwartzenegger and Stratford Mercenaries. In 2007 he performed Crass’s entire Feeding of the 5000 album live at the Shepherds Bush Empire and throughout 2010-2011 presented The Last Supper, touring/celebrating the songs of Crass around the globe, ending with a farewell gig at Shepherds Bush Empire in November 2011.

In 2013 Steve and Paranoid Visions decided to record an album. The result ‘When …?’, a hybrid of styles, all with a nod to early 80s anarcho-punk. They now perform live on special occasions.

Carol Hodge provided the female vocals in Steve’s Last Supper band from January 2011. She has been fronting rock bands since the age of 15, including current project Wrecks, Bad Taste Barbies and plays piano and sings in her solo project Crystal Grenade.

Pete Wilson joined The Last Supper band when he took over on bass in 2011. He has played guitar and bass in several bands, including Wrecks, Andy T and Lies, All Lies.

Lucas Martin started as a guest bass player but after only one performance with Slice Of Life became a permanent member of the band. Previous projects include Spanish trip hoppers Monoh and sound teching for world renowned jazz and classical ensembles in his ‘day job’.

      Track listing:

Love And A Lamp-post / Killing Time / Happy Hour / You / Here I Stand / Eleven Chimneys / The Way Things Are / The Home Coming / Slice Of Life

    • .....And , I'm not ruling out "Beat on The Brat" and "Two Headed Dog" as possibly still existing on tape , either.

    • September 21, 2014 3:53 AM CDT
    • ....Darren , I could be mistaken. But , I'm giad you picked up on my Tempest theory. I only learned , recently , that she's still alive. I saw her obituary about 10 years ago. Woooooo ooooooo.

It's possible that Ivy does'nt want to release any unseen girlie photos of herself , as those pics were all taken by Lux. I don't know.  In reality , that's her decision , either way , and I respect that. I could be dead wrong about that , too , but , somehow , that picture does'nt seem to be her.

Yeah , a "How To Make a Monster" LP set would be the bomb. Slap some covers on there that never turn up , like "My Flash On You" , "Hungry", "You're Gonna Miss Me", etc.

Wow , a complete , expanded "Gravest Hits" , MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come what may , I'm glad this stuff is coming out , that which we know is coming out , and it can't hurt to hope for the rest.......
