Love going out to Thee Vicars & Chris's family right now, I'm so shocked. He was one of the most fun, awesome people I ever met. Super nice guy. R.I.P. xxx

One of, if not the best young UK garage bands. Chris will be truly missed.

Just read this on Facebook... Thee Vicars have a page here on the Hideout.
Sad news. Chris Langeland, guitarist and co-songwriter with Thee Vicars (the one on the right in the photo below), was found dead late on Wednesday evening. I'll be attending the funeral in Bury St Edmunds on Tuesday 7th August.

That's off the top of my head... I do a Garage, Surf, and Lofi show but Black Lips are pretty unique not sure if there's much that's real similar to them.

Hey Andrea, of course I "know you from around Boston" haha. Giuda was supposed to be Sun. which is only a hair better than Mon. but I have high hopes that it's worth going out early in the week. Unnatural Axe is on the bill and I'm not sure who else. That record is pretty darn good.

Joanie,
Hey, Andrea here (you know me from around Boston). Thanks for posting about this. I've seen the name Giuda bandied about but hadn't located anything about them yet. This is some great stuff! Shame they are playing on a Monday night, but I still may have to go check it out.
Joanie Lindstrom said:For those of you who want to see someone new sounding like the heyday of upbeat rocking glam, check out Giuda from Italy doing a short tour in Sept.

Should be good.

Cool, thanks for sharing. I saw the Creation the year before (Oct. 2001) at Cavestomp in NYC, a month or so after 9/11. They were fantastic... and, if I remember correctly, they had a member of the Buzzcocks in the band?

I just posted this on my blog and thought some here may be interested. It's a 2002 recording from The Beat Kitchen in Chicago. Not sure how widely circulated it is, but if you don't have, it's a pretty nice artifact.

I used to love Lolita No. 18. The real garage stuff with harsh cartoony vocals screaming out "Hang on Snoopy" (SIC) was great. Benten used to be a real kinda garage girls label. But Lolita, ever since they did a collaboration with Toy Dolls and had a significant line-up change, have become more of an oi punk thing in Japan. Poni-Camp has the guitarist from Lolita No.18 and they have more of a powerpop/punk sound. But all the real great Benten bands from the 90's just don't exist anymore.

it's done.
finally I decided to take just current and active bands (I hope so). And also I made a german/swedish lesson part between the songs. this is love...

Ah, Naz Nomad. Had a few drinks with their number one fan Dave Vanian at an AFI gig in London one night. He was with Pinch and Patricia Morrison and was in a 'full Vanian outfit', never took his white gloves off all night, even when buying drink!

That's too funny. I still think the funniest instance of hot (NOT!!!!!) tidy whitey action on stage was when I saw The Damned , I think , in 1997. Of course , The Cap'n was known for lettin' the ol' boy out , from as far back as the first U.S tour in '77 (With The Dead Boys) . But , at this gig , he was down to his not - so - tidy whities, toward the end of the show ("Make 'em beg"). They were hangin' so low on him , he could have had a hammock - stuffing contest against Felix and his Amazing Underpants , AND WON ! But , WHEN THE SHOW WAS OVER , INSTEAD OF GOING BACKSTAGE (There was'nt really a backstage entrance from the stage , itself.), He just lept off the stage , still in his underwear , until , predictably , a female fan yanked them off. He carried on , smiling , shaking hands , giving people the "Thumbs up" sign , going , "RIGHT , CHEERS! BRILLIANT ! NICE ONE !".
......OH , AND THEY TELL ME OF THIS BAND CALLED NAZ NOMAD AND tHE NIGHTMARES. THEIR REISSUE IN THE 80's OUTSOLD HALF THE EVA CATALOGUE AND "PEBBLES VOL. MCXVIII . Vatican City Lashes Back.". DAMNED if it did'nt.
