I just got me that Boss FRV-1 'tank' pedal ... I really dig how it sounds and it's really cheap. It'll probably take me years to get around to saving/building a real tank and this'll definately tide me over.

In the punk world, they never went away. Also it's the same impulse that kept vinyl going during the lean years. Plus they are dirt cheap. I prefer vinyl, but I still think there is something to cassettes. I can give a bunch of good reasons for using them. I started making them as a kid, and just never stopped. I drive an old car with a cassette player, so it makes sense for me to have some. They are great for people in poorer countries where not everybody has a computer or CD burner. Especially if you're in a band in a place like this, and need a really cheap way to distribute your songs. I'm always gonna support people listening and buying music in a physical way (cassette, vinyl, CD) over mp3s. Mp3s definitely have their place and are useful in a lot of ways, but I much prefer actually owning something and being able to hold the cover in the hand while I listen to it. Yeah it's kind of obnoxious to think about people being nostalgic about CDs someday once that format finally dies. But it's gonna happen, that's the way of the world. People usually feel that way about whatever they were doing/listening to as a kid or teenager. kopper said:

You should start by downloading anything by Kogar the Swinging Ape. He makes a ton of great tapes. Best known are the Lux & Ivy's Favorites series.

Man, keep them!!! I've got records I haven't listened to in twenty years, and just last night I became nostalgic, pulled out some old LPs I would have sold long ago if I would sell my old records and had such a great time. I could've listened to all the songs on youtube or whatever, but hell, the old dog-ears on the innersleeve! The worn-out cover! And I have only twelve square meters in my living room, and have been in financial trouble more than once. It's worth keeping your collection!

I did...all my records are already on MP3 and Homeserver...and of course the most precious ones on my iPhone... my problem is the space...they cover almost a full cupboard in my cellar and as already mentioned, I don´t listen to them anymore, since I have them all on MP3... gene sculatti said:

You should hang on to them!

The Sire edition was actually a reissue witha new cover, the original was on Elektra. I've seen the Sire one go for $20-50 on Ebay, depending on how many bidders get going.

I have quite a big collection of rare 60´s Garage collections (Pebbles, Mindrockers, Garage Punk Unknows, Back from the Grave,...most remarkably that I collected all of them from Austria) most of them on records, some on CD...and most of my favorite songs converted to MP3. I must admit I haven´t listened to this records for years and I considerably start now to think of selling them. I wouldn´t just sell them to anybody...only somebody who really knows what´s the whole thing´s about. I could do it via eBay but I am sure somebody here knows a better place to sell these records. When I went through them the other, brought back lots of old memories and it makes me sad to let them go, but place wise it would help us a great deal. In any case can somebody also tell me what 1965–1968"">Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era, 1965–1968 (the original edition from 1976 from Sire) is worth today.

Yeah, I've got that one. In fact, I think it was the first of theirs that I bought on CD. It's a good album, but not my favorite by them by a long shot.

I just bought a used copy on amazon, and I really like it. Once again, I have Little Steven to thank for turning me onto this album, albeit in an indirect manner. The Chesterfield Kings performed several songs from this album on their live Wicked Cool release, and I thought they were new songs that had not been recorded yet. I found out later on that they were on this album, so I tracked it down and bought it. I especially like "Rock'n'Roll Murder" and "Johnny Volume" (A very cool tribute to the late, great Johnny Thunders).

There's an after party-- and a before-party, and a during party... Lots of local garage acts playing ongoing free shows all day long. The Replay Lounge is hosting a few: FAG COP, SPOOK LIGHTS, WEIRD WOUNDS, and more... And after the fest gets out, we've got some houses on standby for even more bands. Just trying to keep the town as packed with music as possible so there's something for everyone, everywhere. Ruby Soleil said:
