Hi, I've looked at all that before. I even own the soundtrack on vinyl, but it's not on it. Everywhere on the web I find soundtrack details, it never lists that song I'm trying to find. Was the movie producers ashamed of the song and didn't want to credit it or sdmething? It's pretty fuckin' boss, I couldn't see that being the reason. luscevious drummer said:

Hi, Mal. It starts exactly 10 minutes and 50 seconds into the film. The chick in the red dress puts on the record and then everyone gets up and dances. Listen for the lyrics I posted above in the song. The song only plays for about 30 seconds.

Oh, I actually played a gig with my friends band where one band -PRSMS- covered "1970" and they - Passive Aggressor - covered "Fun House." That was my first gig with a saxophone. The bands are kind of intense psychedelic noisy hc punk devo beefheartcore whateverness. BackdoorStan said:

I love a lot of that guy's playing -- Funhouse is one of my favorite albums of all time. More due to Ron, Scott Asheton and Dave Alexander tho. Yeah, I mean I grew up getting into Steve McKay's sax playing. Iggy told him to play like Maceo Parker (J.B.'s main alto man) on acid! It's kinda how he plays. ratoonie said:

Am listening to a podcast right now from 2006 (One Cup of Coffee and a Cigarette) and it had a pretty killer tune called Dog Fight by a group called the Hitchhikers and had some great sax on it. Sounded like it came out between 1963-1965.

Yeah, man, saxophone started to disappear coz you could get the honk and scream out of a voice or a fuzz box and guitar distortion. I forgot about that Gentry's tune! And it indeed wild. Saxaphone kind of started to disappear after 1966. Even Rob LInd didn't do too much on the third and final Sonics album. Which is why he sang a few numbers. Probably not considered garage proper but the Las Vegas Grind albums have tons of Saxaphone related tunes.

'A funny thing happened to me on the way to the forum', as the old movie title once said. This is a great wee place as we are all here not by accident but because of our love for all things punk, past and future. Facebook et al are worldwide platforms for the wonderful and the sad, this site i think is a wee bit more sublime than that. Theres no one-upmanship or point gaining, and yes i think we are all a bit 'Anorak', but only because we have a real passion for this kinda thing, to the extent that it transcends the music and art and then becomes a lifestyle choice. 'Art for Arts Sake' as one shitty Brittish band once lauded. Like the Muppets, we welcome all people here coz we know you live and love the same air we do. Zoe yer an absolute star. As King Jello Biafra once said, 'Keep it real, and be prepared!!!

I'm gonna say all the obvious ones like: Ramones, Saints, Damned, Heartbreakers, Buzzcocks.... But I would also add in Mink Deville's first album Cabretta. I feel like Willy Deville added an aspect of New York to the scene that wasn't really present in the other artists. His songs were more in line with the early 60's and later 50's tunes than say the Ramones. The song Venus of Avenue D is such a good song. Also, The Adverts - Crossing The Red Sea is a great piece of early British punk.

Don't forget the Animosity era Corrossion of Conformity is back with Mike, Woody, and Reed.

that's exactly what I was looking for, thanks! I've heard a few of those names already, Harvey Milk, Boris and Baroness for example. But now I'll go a-hunting for more.

Another pretty good band are the Young Widows, but I don't know if they can be called Metal, or rather just Noise(core). Anyway, I like the way they work with a kind of loopy, repetitive riffing.

Does anyone like Carcass? I think that "Necroticism" is one of the best grindcore records ever made, so full of good ideas, with a superb sound and cool humor. After that, they became too soft, too "indie", and before that album they were amusing but kind of bad. But this one album, wow.

Reign In Blood is the greatest metal album ever. I also have a soft spot for South of Heaven But does anyone know any recent metal bands that are cool? One of my favourites is Sunn O))), but they can hardly be called metal in the classic sense. Mastodon definitely rock, and if you want, the Melvins never made one bad record. I'm looking for more of the sound Mastodon are playing. Any suggestions? I guess my taste goes rather into the sludge direction, but I don't know the genre too well... Harvey Milk -Like early MELVINS and The Swans, slow, dark (but darkly humorous), noisy (they also did a ZZ Top inspired album) Baroness - considered by metalheads to have too much indie rock influence, but that's only because they mix hooks and good production with the sludge) Kylesa - somewhat similar to Baroness, but more hardcore influenced with insane double drumming and male.female vocals BORIS - experimental Japanese metal, named for a MELVINS song, recent albums have had a MY Bloody Valentine/ psychedelic influence. Made an album with Sunn0))). EYEHATEGOD/Outlaw Order - classic southern sludge. Weedeater - Sludge with a southern rock influence Blutch - slow, sludgy , noisy Torche - similar to Baroness, with a more stoner rock influence Electric Wizard - noisy, sludgy, british band Earthride - classic doom Acid Bath - NOLA sludge with more range than normal for this type of band. Dax Riggs of Deadboy and The Elephantmen and Fat Possum records started with them Jucifer - early on they crossed Breeders type alternative rock and MELVINS type sludge. as time has gone on they've amped up the sludge and downplayed the alt rock, but added some Americana influence. They do an especially over the top live show. Municipal Waste - kings of the Crossover Thrash revival Pig Destroyer - grindcore with some interesting twists High On Fire - like Motorhead with Tony Iommi on guitar Om - hypnotic bass/drums duo Black Mountain - more hard rock than metal. Deep Purple heaviness, Pink Floyd psyche, Stonesy boogie and male/female vocals that remind me of X and Royal Trux Fatso Jetson - dudes who've played with Queens of the Stone Age. Kinda like a stoner rock Minutemen anything Scott "Wino" Wienrich ("the American Lemmy") has ever done - Saint Vitus, The Obsessed, Spirit Caravan, The Hidden Hand, Place of Skulls, Probot, Shrinebuilder, and a solo album. Due loves his Sabbath, in a very good way.

It can't be much worse than that shitty film with Joe Strummer in. The guy made some great music but should never tried acting. 24 Hour Party People ruled, have it on DVD and before that I never thought that there was any link between punk and rave.

You should start by downloading anything by Kogar the Swinging Ape. He makes a ton of great tapes. Best known are the Lux & Ivy's Favorites series.
