Another movie of note is “That Thing You Do!”. It’s not from the 60’s, but from 1996. It’s written-by, directed-by and stars Tom Hanks, about a 60’s one-hit-wonder group called the Wonders. Great music send-ups of various 60's styles - from pop, to Motown/Specter, to lounge, to jazz, to the Tornado’s “Telstar”. It’s well worth seeing.

There’s all those beach movies too, featuring Dick Dale, Jan & Dean, Beach Boys, etc.

First off, I think mass exposure of GARAGEPUNKRAWK is good... BUT NOT IN THAT WAY!! I got one of those too since the only way you can listen to past episodes is to sign up to their mailing list but that's as far as I'm going with that. I'm not signing up for this. I mean, as long as you don't mind getting the occasional e-mail from Renegade Nation, you can listen to the shows for free so who needs a script a double CD?

In Seattle, Singles Going Steady is the most underground you'll get. Easy Street Records in the Queen Anne area is pretty decent as well as their West Seattle store. And so is Sonic Boom in Ballard. That's the only thing that bothers me the new hideout. I don't know if there's anybody willing to help me out with a question about Gary Lewis and the Playboys if I need an answer. I lost my internet access at home for a while and had to go to the library for all my surfing. and I only had an hour each day. But I now have more time here since I got access again. But a lot has changed. Yahoo's launchcast for instance. I preferred that over last.fm and Pandora but they're the closest things right now. But I got off the subject. A lot of those sixties experts aren't particularly interested in joining the Hideout and that's a shame as they were a wealth of info. But that's our only loss really. There's at least some truth to this. Several key contributors from the old Psychotic Reactions board never even signed up here.

After four years, I just finally saw that Johnny Cash thing with that Phoenix guy and that thing is totally inaccurate. They're going more for the story rather than if any of it's true or not. I'll probably watch Cadillac Records in about 4 years when I have nothing better to watch.

I don't tend to break out of the garage mode much (or rock and roll in general) so most jazz records or blues records is always new to me. Even with all the garage stuff I've heard, there's always something new coming to my attention.
