But be careful, too much of this retarded exotic wailin' and shakin' podcast may drives you insane !!!
      At least I hope so...
Back to the Twistin' Rumble comps : go, get 'em all and organize a twist contest down in your crappy street ! Square neighbors will probably hate you, they already do anyway, but you and your twistin' friends will have a really great time...before the cops arrive !

    • Use the new blue fuzz face, its silicon transistors, much darker and a very bassy tone, you dont lose the bottom end, in fact it gives you more. Wipeout! said:

Thanx Branded and EEGAH fer the advice...

Never used a Fuzz Face on a bass...intriguin', may try

Never gotta a chance to drive a Maestro FuzzTone (an original would be my cherry creme, baby)...

Both would lose the direct bass signal I need to maintain I imagine ...so keep 'em suggestions comin', kids

    • I use a Maestro FuzzTone for bass. The only negative is that you may need to compensate and add some additional bass tone.

    • bass sounds good with a fuzz face

    • Hey hey hey GP gang!

I'm gearin' up (literally) fer the start of my new band which will entail sax, bass and drums only...

As the bass player, I really wanna killer fuzz sound ...something gnarly yet not makin' my bass sound too treble-ly...ya dig?

Also, if I go the pedal route, I needs something that will allow direct (aka un-effected) signal through in addition to the fuzzed out signal to my amp...gots to maintain a true-blue bass thump!

Any and all help/talk appreciated, 'natch

    • Thanks definately a great song, I'll try to get a feeling for that riff on the organ. Are there any organ players here in the group who started without any teacher/mentor?

    • April 12, 2009 4:04 PM CDT
    • start with your basic three finger C chord and move it up and down the keyboard for different notes as your starting note and that should suffice for most of the classic garage rock organ songs you'll want to play. learn classic riffs like 96 Tears and you'll definitely be set.

    • Hey Ho,

I am listening to Psychedelic Rock and Garage Punk since the beginning of my conscious life (at least it seems like it) but sadly never learnt to play an instrument properly. But that should change now. I am able to play basic chords on the guitar and on the keys and got my hands on a nice combo organ and want to start playing all my fav. Nuggets/Pebbles out there, but how to start??? I'm really bad in hearing notes/chords from records and I haven't found anything on the net yet. Are there any Organ players out here who can give some helpful tips about how to get going? Especially playing technique explanations typical for garage rock would be great.

      Aloha

Thanks fer the suggestion...it was the first track on my first Poker nite mix...actually the entire mix was dug by those in attendance (I was super-shocked, but then again garagepunk does have a primal charm that all punks can get into) Now it's time fer volume 2 so keep suggestions comin'!!!

...startin' to believe garagepunkers on the whole don't like social networks (at least usin' 'em fer real...not just lurkin')
There's at least some truth to this. Several key contributors from the old Psychotic Reactions board never even signed up here.

I agree this place isn't a patch on the old forums for info. In fact, there's absolutely no debate about it. That's the one thing I really miss. I mean, I like being able to come here and add songs to my jukebox and look around a bit but the amount of discourse, sharing of info and music was far greater on the old board.

This site has been around for what, about two years now? I just don't think the amount of participation here is gonna get much greater than it is right now. Sad but true.
Now I'm wonderin' again if the ol' forum info (aka threads that had real info of use) could be brought back from the dead (this is definitely Kopper's area of knowledge)...even if possible I bet it'd be a herculian task to host all that shit somewhere on this site. ...startin' to believe garagepunkers on the whole don't like social networks (at least usin' 'em fer real...not just lurkin')

    • Well, what do you guys think? A certain eighties version is at the top of my list, though a sixties instrumental by a great band is not far off!
