• i seen the cramps a few back, old as hell and lux still tore the place up like no other band i ever seen. he was all over the place breakin crap chuggin a bottle of vodka, climbin speakers. supa sleeze bad ass. reverend horton heat, ah not the craziest but one of the sickest guitar players i ever seen. him and his bass player did a solo where they were both had one hand on the guitar and the stand up bass. but dead boys would most definitely put them all to shame. come on who else randomly throws crap out in the middle of their show like "we're only doin it for the money" and "throw your pussies at me" ha that right suckas

• hmm i've been interested in fuzz for awhile though i don't even have a decent amp to put it through as of yet

I've had very little luck in finding out what fuzzes were used for the 80s Fuzztones and Pandoras recordings, i think that's my ideal fuzz

• i know right! but count your blessings. working for a good record store would be like working for in-store credit! haha!

grindcore is a faster, tighter, louder hardcore. noisier than metal. but still low class enough to not be labeled post-rock. but don't quote me.

• Dang, I wished I worked at a record store and had all the records I wanted at my disposal. Pardon my ignorance, but what is "grindcore"? Guess I could look it up.

• recently a young employee of the hip local record store asked me to get him up to speed with 60s garage (he's a local big honcho in the grindcore scene) - i have to say i was pretty taken aback - what a nice compliment! well since he has all the records he wants at his disposal, i told him to start with this: the troggs.

now he's got the fever and we email back and forth on a daily basis. just today he sent an frantic note, incredulous that i hadn't told him about "99th floor" by the moving sidewalks (we are in zz top country, afterall). of course i apologized profusely! ha!

• It'll be interesting to see how the bill rounds out, but I don't know how it'll turn out, seeing as how some of the bigger names are dead (K Cobain) and others are out of the picture (Soundgarden? Hole? Nah). It'll probably end up being third-stringers like Hammerbox playing the show.

• rubbish! subpop's early days were a ton of fun.

• I hear it'll be a good summer in NY

• April 11, 2008 6:23 PM CDT
• Mudhoney is probably the only good band they will have play. Sub Pop put out lots of good records that nobody bought. The Sub Pop bands that will play this festival are the shitty ones for sure like Green River.

• crypt anniversary party? when? where?

• April 11, 2008 11:14 AM CDT
• Don't you like even Mudhoney? I haven't heard any Tad's album though, but the Sub Pop was a good label. @@

• April 10, 2008 12:13 PM CDT
• I'm sure that none of the really good bands that subpop put out will even be remembered.

how's that fucking TAD record holding up? it was shit then...still shit now.

better yet...saint etienne HA!

The Crypt Anniversary Party will rule all over this shit!

• the horrible thing about sound checks is having all that time before you play to get trashed in......that fine balance between being fun and being an onstage drunken jackass can be rather fine, haha

• April 12, 2008 4:37 PM CDT
• it's been pointed out to me the Thee Mummies also did a nice cover of it........

• One of my favorite recent ones is GET IN THE GROOVE from Norton Records. It's a got a recent (2006, I think) concert -- Norton honcho Billy Miller's 50th birthday party --featuring Andre Williams, Nathaniel Mayer, Barrence Whitfield, Bettye LaVette, Lonnie Youngblood and more. Hosted byh Rudy Ray Moore A good soul blog is Funky 16 Corners: http://funky16corners.wordpress.com/ I recently caught Andre Williams at South by Southwest. He's still cool, but seek out his old stuff. The collection RIB TIPS & PIG SNOOTS is wonderful. ANDRE WILLIAMS
