Bio
Born in 1984, Vanny grows up in the middle of nowhere, down in Sicily, and discovers rock'n'roll at the age of 13. Fallen in love with the early punk rock, he founds his first band, FESTAMALVA, in 2001, inspired by Stooges, Crime and New York Dolls. The band breaks up after six years of chaos, leaving just a bunch of unrecorded songs and the memory of its troubles.
From 2007, Vanny records his solo stuff at home, all by himself, mostly inspired by the attitude of Daniel Johnston's early records. What comes out is a very lo-fi mix of blues, garage and punk rock.
He also founds his own netlabel, KILL MOMMY RECORDS, entirely dedicated to homemade productions from all over the world, and releases his debut solo album, "Love Is A Serial Killer", in the end of 2008. Both his own and his label's productions are available for FREE DOWNLOAD!
By the same time, he starts his new "zombitpop" project DARTH ZERO, which releases two albums in two months, "Evil Is Better" and "Zombit Mafia", for the american netlabel Dancing Is Forbidden. Darth Zero has been recently included in the "8BITes Of Pizza" compilation of Italian micromusic artists, released by Coucou Netlabel, from Rome, with the previously unreleased song "Can't Stand The Musicians".
He plays bass and composes music also for the avant-garde/psychedelic/funk jam-band CAFĂ BAKUNIN and for the dark blues/experimetal duo LIGHTGREEN BLUES CONNECTION.
