Personal Details

  • Bio i used to play in punk/post-punk bands back in the early eighties in london, and black rockers were quite rare in those days! i was a maverick even before i knew the meaning of the term. anyway, i played or jammed with some pretty good musicians back in those days including jazz musicians, funk musicians, blues musicians, soul musicians, reggae guys, folk artists. not that i considered myself a good musician, but i was surrounded by them. in the late 80's my band "welfare heroine" were signed to non-fiction, and we recorded a couple of crappy singles. at the time, i was studying politics at the "school of oriental and african studies", and as soon as my band signed a deal, i dropped out of university. i hated it anyway! to cut a long story short, in the late 90's i joined a fabulous soul singer called WINSTON ROBERTS, replacing a guitarist called TODD SHARPVILLE. shortly afterwards, winston signed a management deal, and i made the bizarre decision to follow a girl i was in love with to France rather than stay and work with winston in the studio. i guess i'd become cynical about the music business. for the next 10 years, i taught myself photography, taught english, taught myself graphic design, learnt french, and forgot about music, although i did photograph a lot of reggae artists that passed through Tours, and i did briefly have a radio programme called "stranger than paradise" on a local community radio station. anyway, how did i start playing again? i discovered "fruity loops", and messing around with that made me realise that i missed making music. WASTED CONVERSATION was created to be a vehicle for anti-conformist music, art and poetry, by ex-punks who are old enough to know better. the aim of WASTED CONVERSATION is to eventually have 7 die-hard fans in JAPAN, and to appear on the soundtrack of a JIM JARMUSCH film. after which we will disband. JIM JARMUSCH IS GOD, AMEN!
  • Favorite Music link wray, guitarwolf, johnny thunders, screaming jay hawkins, suicide, flat duo jets, bo diddley, dan sartain, last poets, pil, tom waits, 101ers, hamell on trial, slits. lo-fi, post-punk, rwanda-billy, garage.
  • Favorite Movies repo man, stranger than paradise, ghostworld, drunken master, les vacances de monsieur hulot

here's an anecdote for you! back in 199? in London i was roadying for a fabulous guitarist/songwriter/singer/producer from memphis called "JEROD", who had played with AL GREEN, and had played with the british band DEXY'S MIDNIGHT RUNNERS(of "COME ON EILEEN" fame). he was a friend of Bustah Jones, w...
