Most of bands from Serbia/Croatia (Yugoslavia) in mid 60's, started as copy USA and UK bands. They just took original music and singed in Serbian/Croatian. It sounds very naively for me (maybe I'm wrong, probable it's exotic for other people). I recommend you bands from late 80's, like Partibrejkers, Kazna za usi (Serbia) or The Spoons, Messerschmit, Majke (Croatia). But if you interested in old music from Yugoslavia, I can send you some links. Se ya! ... Roberto!  less

I find that listening to Texas bands like Lemon Fog and the Nomads between cuts or sides by Red Crayola and Silver Apples keeps me clued into what the psych teensters were really trying to create. I have trouble keeping The Deep on for more that one or two cuts, Groep 1850 too. I'm going to be moving to Ann Arbor soon; that may effect what I listen to. ---Randal

The owner of one used to go to Eastern Europe two or three times a year. He mostly bought jazz but would bring back some 60s and 70s rock records too. I bought EPs of Iskre and Elipse. I think you could call them "surf." The Iskre especially, with its crazy bass part and nifty Farfisa Matador organ part, I dug. The Elipse less so, but I found info on-line including an interview with the Ellipse keyboard player translated into English and another interview with the singer of Siluete. .Here's the site: http://www.jugobeat.com/jugobeat.htm I don't suppose you really need to find out about this stuff in English. There's also a comp, called Jugobeat, that came out over ten years ago. It's most garagy; all the songs have singing. I like Kameleoni alot. My favorite East Eropean Surf band though is Sincron from Romania. It's nice communicating with you. No one in Pennsylvania knows any...    less
