    • hi,

I`m orginally from munich and just as mr. Aknostik said, the "59:1" in the "Sonnenstrasse" (that`s the name of the street) is the best place to go.

Also at  "Feierwerk", which is a whole area with several clubs like the "Orange House", the "Sunny Red" and the "Hansa" is a cool location for any kind of alternative music.

The "Backstage" is also cool, but like the Feierwerk it depends what kind of bands are playing.

      hope that helps

      cheers

      Dominik

    • I'm not from Munich, but travelled a few times there to see shows...one of the clubs where sometimes good garage & punk shows happen is "59 to 1"  (www.59to1.net). Maybe they have sth. going on when you are in town.

Record stores I can recommend Schallplattenzentrale (2nd Hand only with no specialization, all the stuff from A-Z, but good prices and I always found some stuff) and Optimal Records (new and 2nd hand). Both stores are not that far away and reachable by foot.

Any more tips by Munich based people?

    • Hi there, specially german folks!

I'm going to Munich at the end of this month. It's a job travel and i'll be there just 4 days, but I hope to have some spare time. Anyone can tell me where to drink a beer and listen good r'n'r or live music venues, record shops and so?

Or if anyone can tell me where to find a City Agenda to check out what's going on up there?

      Thanks in advance!!!

    • I used to love Channel 4's Eurotrash and Mr De Caunes was my fave broadcaster as a kid, along side Magenta De Vine. Here is the worst music you could get on this show, but this is the worst music, full stop. Now, I've always had a love of the surreal and the absurd, as the late Lolo Ferarri's presence doing a banal task for a cheap laugh testifies, but this crosses into the realms of the lowest common denominator.

      presents

      STRANGE HANDS

      ACID BABY JESUS / BAZOOKA

heavy psych'n'roll / garage punk from Greece

      LIVE!!!

      at POP CORNER CLUB

via della Pila 103 Marghera (Venezia)

      WEDNESDAY 21/12/2001

Just months after releasing their massive "Hospitals" e.p. (702-100),
Slovenly Recordings presents the debut full length tidal wave from
Greece's Acid Baby Jesus, simply titled, "LP" (702-110). A
Mediterranean concoction of two of our favorite "Black" bands
(Sabbath/ Lips), ABJ represents the future of heavy psych'n'roll from
an isolated, ancient civilization. Combining the ruthless elements of
American outlaw roots music and celestial glam rock, like fellow
deconstructionists Demon's Claws, "LP" suggests the Rolling Stones at
their wearied best, with the electrifying hi-jinks of Brian Eno
bulldozing the swagger into the darkest corners of the cosmos.

Among this album's thirteen original compositions, the deathly dirge
"Homo Sapiens" claws forth with a twisted, underlying skronk, ending
with the terrifying bacchanalia of a pack of disgruntled flying
monkeys. Elsewhere, trance inducing lullabies crescendo into fully
erupting cacophonies of feedback and distortion. Girl-group icons The
Shangri-Las are channeled in the beaty, dark-pop gallop of "I'm A
Baby." "Tooth To Toe," with its exotic, percussive clank and uplifting
glitter hook juxtaposes brilliantly with its lyrical ode to post-tour
poverty ("I've got to pay the rent, my money's always spent, and I'm
      deep in shit.")

Dynamics play equally as heavy a role as their expert songwriting, and
a flawless production job by John Vulgaris rounds this album out with
a fresh level of psycho-sonic Alex Chilton-esque throb, heavily
peppered with lazy Hazelwood-isms. "LP" presents a long, gooey segue
from rave-up to release with breathtaking results, like the best
      love-making of your life.

Listen to 4 songs on bandcamp

    • Spain's always a good one, Germany, Italy...most of Northern Europe in fact!! South of England is tough...mostly fairly depressing and demoralising!!! North of England used to be more like going into Europe, maybe it still is...haven't done any shows oop North for a while, with the exception of Edinburgh earlier in the year, and Glasgow last year [both great shows by the way].
