These new mp3 ipod thingies will never replace the true sound you get from vinyl. If I need a portable music player to listen to tunes on the move I use my Sound Burger :-)

who on here owns an ipod or anything similar like an mp3 player? these things are fun toys, im in the process of importing all my CDs onto my ipod, when its done im gonna make some kickass playlists out of all my back from the grave compilations and other albums. the ipod ive got is able to make a playlist on wothout having to keep plugging it into the computer.

You lucky bastard! I've saw them twice here in LA. The first show was great cuz there were only like 20 people there, you know all the wierdos and kooks came out to see them. Luved it! Guitar wolf ended up in the ally. The second time was a couple years later. They were great again except there was less kooks and the place was packed to the brim with hipsters. Those guys are one the few true asian heros!!

I freakin love Guitar Wolf - and this movie... Never heard of Guitar Wolf when I saw Wild Zero at a bar movie night in Atlanta, and found out they were playing the next day - got tickets - went to the show - was blown away - got pulled on stage by Guitar Wold and handed his guitar - I beat out some noise while he trashed around - Bass Wolf and I flipped this dude off who threw a beer at me... I dropped the sacred pick and played with my finger - which I shredded and literally SPRAYED BLOOD ALL OVER THE GUITAR. Took a nice stage dive... Got back stage and hung out with the band - where I was repeatedly thanked by Guitar Wolf for all the blood.

I saw this movie a few years back and finally got and engrish subtitle version. This movie is awesome! UFO's, Zombies, Japanese peeps and Guitar Wolf! Bass Wolf R.I.P.

We're talking noir, crime and pulp here. What are you reading? I'm currently obsessed with David Goodis. Probably the best hardboiled fiction I've ever read. Shoot the Piano Player was just incredible as was the compilation of short stories titled Black Friday. I might even rate him over Jim Thompson if only for the fact that Goodis's characters are more likeable (yeah, I know that's not really the point in a JT novel). The other absolute masterpiece I read recently was Rendezvous in Black by Cornell Woolrich. I have a low attention span when it comes to fiction; if it's not amazing, I lose interest. This was utterly gripping.

I saw the Tara McPherson book in Forbidden Planet the other day. It was good but a tad to modern looking for my tastes. I got another one of those pin-up compilations on Fantagraphics edited by Alex Chun. Don Flowers this time. He's a lot more economical of line than Dan De Carlo but still good. I can see where Frank Cho (Liberty Meadows) gets his inspiration from now.

It's a little long and not very *visually* interesting, but trust me, it's worth it. If you're not aware of who Larry Lessig is, well, he's a pretty important guy. He's author of Free Culture: How Big Media Uses Technology and the Law to Lock Down Culture (as well as other books on similar subjects). He is a professor of law at Stanford Law School and founder of its Center for Internet and Society. He is founder and CEO of the Creative Commons and a board member of the Electronic Frontier Foundation and of the Software Freedom Law Center, launched in February 2005. He is best known as a proponent of reduced legal restrictions on copyright, trademark and radio frequency spectrum, particularly in technology applications. By the way, Obama's people went directly to Lessig with their technology policy to get his feedback... This strongly suggests that in an Obama administration, Lessig or Lessig-minded people would be in charge of federal technology policy. Us "Internet Culture" people could be *running* federal tech/copyright policy with Obama in office. That's something to hope for! VOTE!! If you think Clinton will be the same in these regards, think again. Support Obama. Thanks!

No Country For Old Men was good, but There Will Be Blood is awesome. Let me know what you concluded when you see it.

I saw No Country For Old Men yesterday and the trailer for There will be Blood screened. It looks awesome, it will be the next movie I see.
No Country For Old Men was great, a return to form for the Coen Bros.
Daniel Day-Lewis doesn't make many movies but when he does they rock, I have to admit to a more than passing fondness for Last of the Mohicans.

"Two Hands" was great, went to see it with my girlfriend of the time - she was groaning for Heath, me for Rose Byrne, both total unknowns even in Australia at the time. The pub he goes into just before he has to make a run for it used to be my lunchtime local (just near Chinatown in Sydney).

It's a drag, no? Although he never seemed a very happy or satisfied person, if you know what I mean. But he was straight up, didn't mince words, which must be pretty stressful in Hollywood. The word I hear is that he was hitting various chemicals pretty hard before the end.

Watchmen is good, very good, but it is also heavily grounded in the 80's. I think for us who grew up in the 80's it is good for some Cold War nostalgia, but I think a lot of kids who were born after that period will miss the point all together.
Another great Allan Moore classic is From Hell. Best Jack the Ripper story ever

Hellboy is another great read. Mignola has captured the pulp feel of some of the Golden Age comics, but has also managed to keep in modern.

i can´t say anything about "watchmen" but it has to be good because you hear so much about it. one of its forerunners was "the one" by rick veitch, and that is outstanding. another mini by rick veitch and alan moore is "1963", and it´s also good fun to read no matter if you like or hate superheroes. it´s kinda homage / persiflage / mockery of all the silver age comics and what they contained, like fanmail and the special kind of advertising you can find in every comic-book from the 1960s.

I just started reading comics so I've started out just reading old goodies. I'm almost through with The Watchmen and I really like old Swamp Thing.
