    • Thanks for that, this looks great, I would have missed this otherwise. The day was gonna come when Sacco sets his merciless eyes on American Eyes ...again. I haven't gotten to read any really recent volume of LOEG yet, but I have a stash to go thru now!

Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt

Here's a meaty graphic novel collecting pieces by journalist Chris Hedges, illustrated by (Portland native!) Joe Sacco (you probably know his classic PALESTINE). It chronicles America's downfall, and the last chapter is written about the Occupy movement.

One of the best comics of the year!

The newest LOVE & ROCKETS collection is pretty good, w/ the highlight for me being a short story about Doyle's past. Hell, it's the Hernandez Bros., you're gonna buy this anyway, right?

    • Hey,  IDON MINE, are you gonna do a best-of for the year (or the past 12 years, I'll bite!)

    • Milk & Cheese are swell! So is gin, any style.

Whiskey, however, does make a man mean!

Rum simply makes a man dead drunk...

    • "the comic "Milk & Cheese" and their saying: "Gin makes a man mean"?"

I had a M&C t-shirt: "Gin makes a man mean.  Everybody booze up and riot!"

    • It seems everyone in big Gov. has a stake in something, or an ulterior motive rather than governing a country effectively. The Bush tax cuts need to be flushed down the toilet. The super rich are 50% of the countries wealth. At least that's what I read someplace online. Can't verify the accuracy. Their money does this country no good locked up in a vault someplace. They brag about creating work, but it doesn't do the states a lot of good if it is overseas someplace.

And I am no political expert. I am only a concerned citizen for better government. Every single day of my life when I pull my money out to buy something I am paying taxes. So is everyone else. That is an enormous amount of daily paid taxes. I was at the Occupy Austin rally here for a week. Slept over all night a couple nights to experience it firsthand. I know this is a garage punk community, but this is a political forum so I am posting this video even though it is not. It pretty much says how me, and many others feel about the shape our country is in.

Excuse typos, misuse of the English language, its a family tradition.

    • Ha! Yeah, let's face it, until we scrap our form of government, the Beltway isn't doin' Diddley to fix our country, just line their pockets...

      Thanks for the link.

RIP to a great willful woman. That's the only Russ Meyer film I've seen all the way through ( not to mention the only rock and roll flick he did).

      And then Vampira, too!

All of the lights seem to be going out. I'd be hard-pressed to name any new(ish) people who will live on in Pop Kultcha infamy.

    • Well , I'd definitely call "Beyond The Valley of The Dolls" a Rock'n'Roll movie - displaying the corrupt , seamy side of the Rock industry. You had an all Female Rock trio with great songs (The Carrie Nations , rumored to be partly the inspiration for Josie and The Pussycats.) , a Kim Fowley -ish egomaniac band manager , Z - Man ( Tho' Kim , to woman's great dismay , is Straight , and , to his own , not fabulously wealthy.), and The Strawberry Alarm Clock , performing their heaviest non - hit "I'm Coming Home"......Plus , if you wink , you'll miss Haji AND Pam Grier , and if they're not Rock'n'Roll ...... Kid Rock IS.

    • Hey people, don't let us get old(er) than we already are because if we're here talking about Tura's antics....well, ya know what I mean?!:):):):):):)

    • But , here ?      ..........You would think there'd be hundreds of people who would equate Tura's Take - No - Shit - From  - Any - Man P.O.V. with Garage Rock the same way many people(Erroneously) equate James Dean with Rockabilly. Sal Mineo was more Rockabilly than James Dean , besides , Elvis asked Tura to marry him ! The mind STILL reels at the thought of the beautiful children they could have had. Simply Put "Faster , Pusycat  -Kill ! Kill !" is one of Thee most Rock'n'Roll movies with virtually no Rock'n'Roll music (Barring the great No - Fi Garage Rock theme by the Bosstweeds.).

    • I'M JUST NOW SEEING THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME.....IT'S WRITTEN WITH A LOT OF HEART.

Nurmi/Vampira also appeared in "The Beat Generation" and "The Magic Sword" , as a withered old hag , alas. A short clip of Nurmi from that same film was used , if you can believe this , in the Turkish "Star Wars" movie (Turkey has no copyright laws , which is how they got away with also lifting footage  from the original "Star Wars".).

She also recorded a 45 with Satan's Sattelites.

    • Spicy German Mustard

      Ingredients:

      1/4 cup yellow mustard seed
2 Tbsp. black or brown mustard seed, heaping
      1/4 cup dry mustard powder
      1/2 cup water
      1 1/2 cups cider vinegar
      1 small onion chopped
2 Tbsp. firmly packed brown sugar
      1 tsp. salt
2 garlic gloves, minced or pressed
      1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
      1/4 tsp. ground allspice
      1/4 tsp. dried tarragon leaves
      1/8 tsp. turmeric

      Preparation:
In a small bowl, combine mustard seed and dry mustard. In a 1- to 2-quart stainless steel or nonreactive saucepan, combine remaining ingredients. Simmer, uncovered, on medium heat until reduced by half, 10-15 minutes. Pour the mixture into the mustard mixture. Let mixture stand, covered, at room temperature for 24 hours, adding additional vinegar if necessary in order to maintain enough liquid to cover seeds. Process the seeds and mixture in a blender or food processor until pureed to the texture you like --this can take at least 3 or 4 minutes. Some prefer whole seeds remaining, others a smooth paste. The mixture will continue to thicken. If it gets too thick after a few days, stir in additional vinegar. Scrape mustard into clean, dry jars; cover tightly and age at least 3 days in the refrigerator before using.
      Makes about 1 1/2 -2 cups.
