I don't know, but the Dave Davies autobiography isn't very good. I'm thinking of getting the 33 1/3 series book "Village Green Preservation Society" book as it tells a lot about the band's working relationship, plus it catches them during a very cool period in their history.

Would anyone like to recommend a Kinks biography? "All Day and All of the Night", maybe?

The neck pickup of my Vox Bobcat is shafted. I can't even get it rewound as the casing is completely sealed and shrunken! Does anyone have a fucked up Vox lying around for spares? Please see the attached photo for the style of pickup. Please mail me if you can help me locate one...

Years of ear training to stay in tune, and a certain skill that builds up over time has been kinda nullified. The creepy part is the tuner moves the tuning pegs for you. I have very mixed emotions about this (and the air guitar T-shirt too!) Hell I don't even like electronic tuners! (I have a tuning fork!) Also this type of guitar ain't cheap either ($2,500 smackeroos!) Maybe if they made one for a Rickenbacker 12 string I might think about it though (they are such a PITA to tune!) Lemme know whatcha think about this?

Where do you get your inspirations? How do you write your songs? How important are things like originality and skill? Maybe I shouldn't ask that question. Oh well, just curious. I'm not a songwriter, but I wish I was. Maybe someday.

What's your favorite fuzz that you are using?? Right now I'm using the Ashbass fuzzbrite, which is a mosrite fuzz clone. very nice buzz, but lacks a little bass when using a bright guitar or amp.

What services do you recommend that will let me:
1) Create a stream-like player that allows me to just put the songs up like a real jukebox? (In other words, I can choose what I want to play when.)
2) Have it randomize the order of play (like hitting randomize on an iPod), but possibly starting with my song choices?

Psychobilly these days is so boring. Nothing like the excitement of that time! In fact I lost interest in it when the really narrow-minded bands appeared, like the Klingonz or the Torments.

True, but why create a stream when you can create a stream-like player (like the GaragePunk Podcast jukebox) for a podcast? Then all you have to do is create the podcast. Kill two birds with one stone (not two). Seriously, with the options available to podcasters, it's stupid, antiquated, and a waste of time to create streaming audio files anymore. Just my two cents.

My zine http://lowcut.dk had a radioshow most of this year on Christianshavns Kanal 98,9fm (reaching Copenhagen and Malmo - around 1,2 potential million listeners). I just did a gig where the soundman could not leave the PA alone once he got me up and running. The PA kep squeeking and ringing throughout my performance (and the following band) He came up to me expecting praise at the end of the show and I was Honest (but polite) when I said, "It was a bit bright and that distracted me from my performance and the performance of the band following me that I wanted to watch" (translation: Stop Fucking with the Gawdamn PA and unless there is a problem quite bugging folks on stage while they are playing!) I soldiered through my solo set, but I never quite got into my stride. It wasn't the worst set I have done and the guy was nice enough so I didn't say what I was thinking to him. I hoped my honest coments of "if it ain't broke don't fix it in the mix" meant something to him. Probably not, but at least I tried to be constructive.

the next night thing were better with my band. I am so used to balancing my band's stage volume I almost never need to put them through the PA. I just had vocals that night. It went well and my ears aren't ringing too hard today (LOL). I hope this helps you all out in your quest for good stage sound.

I'd say the performance comes from the bands mood and the vibe they get from the crowd.If the crowds up for it, the band usually are.So i believe sound checks have a purpose in that hopefully the sound guy can give you a decent sound out front,for the crowd to get off on.
Lets be honest how many times have we been able to hear our own instrument(apart from the drums) at a gig.I ain't heard my guitar for 20 years.
