Radio What Wave Playlist February 9/2018
If you haven’t heard the news, it’s true!! The referendum passed and CHRW will continue on with $10.50 funding from every undergrad student here at Western University!! That means we can carry on, business as normal and keep the music and info flowing out the airwaves of CHRW!!
- The Hook Up….Outside…from the recent Cruel Sounds CD on Transistor 66 Records. And speaking of T66 Records, huge thanx to The Invisible Man from Winnipeg for co-hosting the show last week! We hope to bring him back next year for a follow up show.
- Pacanomad…..Heaven Can Wait…from their Restless EP and they play tonight at 765 Old East as part of a Fuse showcase.
- SoulJazz Orchestra….Holla Holla…from their Under Burning Skies CD and they were in town at Aeolian Hall last night.
- SoulJazz Orchestra….Agoya….from their Inner Fire CD and as above.
- The Temptations….Psychedelic Shack….from the Psychedelic Soul double CD on Motown Records and goes out to vocalist Dennis Edwards who passed away this week. Dennis was on all The Temps psychedelic/soul releases and brought the band into the 70’s.
- Johnny Terrien and the Bad Lieutenants….Only Game In Town….from the recent Half Wits LP on Speed City Records and they played last night at Call The Office.

- The Demics….Nervous Breakdown….from the Slippery’s Club Hits cassette that came with What Wave 24 and a live recording from about 1980.
- Running From Daylight….Mary Jane….from their latest download and from London Ontario.
- Jeremy Porter and the Tucos…..Patty’s Not Impressed….from the brand new Don’t Worry It’s Not Contagious CD and they are from Detroit. They’re coming back to Call The Office in April and we’ll have more details closer to the date.
- Baby Giant…Sky Writer….from the recent Baby Giant 2 download and from London Ontario.
- Swell Maps…Full Moon In My Pocket….from the A Trip To Marineville CD and originally released back in 1979 and features brothers Epic Soundtracks and Nikki Sudden, both of whom passed away but left us with this art/punk masterpiece.
- Swell Maps…Balm!! As above and a continuation of the above song.
- The Sends….The Answer….from a recent download and features some vets of the Toronto area scene from such bands as; Von Drats, Supreme Bagg Team, UIC and many more.
- Ancient Shapes….Public Hymns…from their self titled LP and they are in town at Call The Office tonight.
- The Zellots….Let’s Play House….from their 1979 flexi recordings.
- Mean Motor Scooter….Wavespotting….from the Hindu Flying Machine release on Dirty Water Records and from Austin Texas.
- Kid Mojo….People Prophet….from a recent UK release.
- Empty Hours….Radio….from their It’s About Time LP and from Brantford Ontario, just east of London.
- The Ballantynes….Stay….from a 7” on La Ti Da Records and this soul 6 piece combo is from Vancouver. They just released a video, so hopefully a new record isn’t far behind.
- The Buttshakers….Soul Kitchen….from France and a 7” EP.

- The Delegators…..Nowhere To Run….from a 7” and from the UK.
- Death Drive…..On Death Row….recent download from this Montreal metal trio that goes for the Sabbath jugular.
- George Brigman….Mistress of Desire…..from a 1984 7” on Bona Fide Records and from the east coast of the US. Cult guitarist who has self released a lot of collectible records back in the late 70’s/early 80’s.
- Captain Beyond….Dancing Madly Backwards….from their 1972 debut Lp with the 3D cover. Released on Capricorn Records and features former Deep Purple vocalist Rod Evans.
- Jimmy Castor Bunch….Troglydyte…..from the It’s Just Begun LP from 1972 and ties the funk to the the metal or something like that.
- Sheesham, Lotus and Son….Ida Red…from the recent Clear The Table CD and they were at SOHO a couple weeks back and put on a killer show!
- The Famines….First World War….from their recent download of singles and they were not only live on CHRW right before RadioWW, but they played last night at EVAC here in London….Toronto tonight!
- Sheep Look Up…..Civil Disobedience….from their early 80’s cassette and from London Ontario.
