23. Graham Parker….Mercury Poisoning….from the Passion Is No Ordinary Word best of compilation CD. Graham and Brinsley Schwarz put on a great show last night in Hamilton! They covered hits from 1976 all the way up to today and Graham’s voice sounds as good as it did 40 years ago!
24. Foreign Objects…Wrestling Is Real…from the Not Too Cool compilation CD and this song was recorded back in 1982. Smash Wrestling is coming to London on Sunday night at London Music Hall.
25. Cheap Trick….California Man….from the Essential Cheap Trick CD and originally from 1978.
26. The Fastbacks….On The Wall….from the Answer The Phone Dummy CD from 1994.
27. Detroit Cobras…..My Baby Loves The Secret Agent….from the Baby Cd that was released by Bloodshot Records.

9. The Creamcheeze Good-Time Band….Milverton….from their early 70’s EP called Perth County Green. Some kinda bluegrass, family band record that looks like it was self released. It’s on the Dominion Record label and came out in the early 70’s. Dunno if the Perth County green is a reference to a herb, or these kids are really naïve as the drummer is only 11 years old! Perth County is north east of London, and the town they are from, Gads Hill is just north of Stratford Ontario.

4. King Khan and the Shrines….The Street Where I Live…from the Mr Supernatural CD from 2004. It was around this time KK played Call The Office to about 12 people….and then there were about 12 people in the band as well!
5. Kumonga…Marmalade….from their self titled debut CD from 2012 and from the Toronto/Oshawa area. Singer/keyboards Danny Walters was in The Brown Hornets that used to play London a fair bit.
6. The Sci-Phonics….All By Myself…from a demo from the mid 80’s and from London Ontario.  Guitarist/vocalist Frank Ridsdale and lead guitarist Jerry Fletcher both play in The Stetson Brothers.
7. Ray Condo and His Hardrock Goners… The Worrying Kind….from the recent re-ish of their 1987 Hot’n’Cold LP.
8. B5 Blue….King Creole….live recording from the Brunswick Hotel. You may know this combo under their more common name of The Boy From Nowhere.
9. Lionel Lodge…Smile… from The Agitator CD from 2014. Lionel is back in London and playing at the Food Festival in London tomorrow and at Fitzrays on Wednesday June 28^th as part of their Indy Wednesdays. Lionel is a former Londoner currently residing and playing music in Austria.

11. Mack MacKenzie….The Devil Likes Me….live to air here on Radio What Wave. For those that don’t know, Mack was the leader of 3 O’Clock Train, a mid 80’s Montreal based country/punk/garage combo who had the hit Train Of Dreams. They released several records at the time and most will be re-issued towards the end of the summer.

17. 3 O’Clock Train….Stupid Little Angel…recorded live at the Key West Café here in London 2/23/1987.  As Mack said, the band was really tight from touring constantly at this time.
18. 3 O’Clock Train….The Devil Likes Me….as above. Both tunes recorded on the What Wave mobile recording unit over 30 years ago!
19. 3 O’Clock Train….Train Of Dreams….from the Wig Wam Beach EP from 1987. Finally got the scoop on the different versions of this song….Mack thinks there are 5 different recordings of this….all explained on the show.
20. The Smugglers….Jailbait….from the cassette compilation called Cat’O’Nine Tales that came with What Wave zine 21 back in 1992.
21. The Smugglers….Don’t Mess With Beez….from the Mutiny In Stereo CD from 2004. Beez was/is the bass player for the band.
22. The Gruesomes….What’s Your Problem….from the same Cat’O’Nine Tales cassette as The Gruesomes were a HUGE influence to The Smugglers (as well as many other combos across Canada)
23. Link Wray….Batman….from the Link Wray self titled LP on Ace Records from the early 80’s. This one goes out to Adam West who passed away last weekend.
24. The Marketts….Batman….from The Batman Theme LP released around the time of the Batman TV show to cash in on the craze. Almost soul like!
25. The Rolling Stones…..Happy…..from the Hot Stuff Volumes 1 and 2 compilation bootleg. This goes out to long time Keith lover Anita Pallenberg who just passed away.

8. Archie and the Bunkers…..You’re My Pacemaker….from their upcoming release, most likely on Dirty Water Records out of the UK. Archie and the Bunkers are 2 teenaged brothers from Cleveland who really have the early punk/proto punk sound and attitude down quite nicely.

2. Oiseaux….See My Face…from the brand new Pentagon Black 2 Compilation put out by The Famines in Montreal.  The compilation is a good cross section of Canuck indy/alternative/whatever kind of music and even has some soul as heard here.
3. Not You….Two Four….another track from the Pentagon Black 2 Compilation.
4. The Heavy….Oh No Not You Again…from the 2009 The House That Dirt Built CD. UK based soul/rock combo that is big there, but not here.
5. Richard Hell and The Voidoids….Destiny Street…from the LP of the same name from 1982. Just finished reading the updated version of From The Velvets To The Voidoids, The Birth Of American Punk Rock by Clinton Heylin and Richard Hell plays a pretty big part in the beginnings of the NYC punk scene. The book is a great read if you’re into the early and pre-punk scene and will surely introduce you to some music you’re overlooked.

Iceland still rocks, there are no fuckin elves. Funk tourists and fuck everybody that plays music in Iceland.

I FOUND ALVIN STARDUST'S FIRST UK ALBUM , RECENTLY. I've always liked what little I'd heard , but , apart from a couple of singles , I've never seen anything turn up. In fact , I already found a Shane Fenton (Stardust's previous hit venture in the 60's , where he assumed the identity of his band's previous frontman , who had died suddenly . ) CD comp, years earlier.  The Stardust LP is surprisingly good , at times ,           T Rex/Slade good. His vocal style owes a lot to Gene Vincent and Vince Taylor.    In fact , so did his stage personna.  So , if you like the Chinnichap/Mike Leander sound , and are at all intrigued by Glam's more than casual flirtations with Rockabilly , seek him out.

Two recent programs of Revolution Rock featured intervew with members of Guided By Voices.  I speak with Doug Gillard (who currenlty plays with the band and originally played with the band from 1997-2004) and Tobin Sprout who played with the band from 1992-1996 and again when they reformed from 2010-2014.  The shows also feature music from Guided By Voices, Gem, Doug Gillard, Tobin Sprout, Brain James, Zoom, Sam Coffey & The Iron Lungs, The Clash, The Evaporators and Iggy & The Stooges and several others.
