Since they invented cd's, I've been getting into different styles of music.
Don't know if you'd call it obscure, but the Goodbye Babylon 6-cd boxset of fire & brimstone pre-war gospel is amazing - especially the sermons (over the songs).
Sublime Frequencies releases are on my list too, especially the Middle Eastern and African ones, and the frog song on the Singapore-A-Go-Go cd sounds like some Jamaican dub thing.
Speaking of Africa, for some reason, I really like Pekos/Yoro Diallo (which reminds me of Capt Beefheart) and Tinariwen, although some people say this stuff sounds like Santana.
I'm not a fan of "Tak Tak punk" or "myspace crust" which is where someone in Malaysia, or somewhere else on myspace, has heard Agnostic Front or whatever, and does a straight up imitation with nothing to add. Probably the internet's fault, right?
