  Does anyone else on this site enjoy any music like this? The early ska music (AKA bluebeat), its offshoot, rocksteady, which later morphed into skinhead- and mod-centric reggae music? Guys like Prince Buster, Derrick Morgan, The Maytals, the Wailing Wailers? I figured there was a chance some of the soul fans here would at least dig these sounds.

  Love the older stuff mainly. Huge old soul fan. Stormy, Marion Black, Dyke & The Blazers, just to name a few. I am a drummer in a garage rock band, but have a side Funk Soul Project. I love the garage vibe, but there is nothing like layin it down with a funk riff. Puts you in a good mood instantly!

  Definitely. Toots & The Maytals were always my favorites. Toots Hibbert is a great soul vocalist -- always reminded me of a Jamaican Otis Redding. A lot of the Trojan Records artists were terrific.
