UntitledAgreed! I'm glad you put this up. I always just thought (by way of short bios in the back of the HPL books I have) that he was just some socially incompetent weirdo living with his mother all his life. I knew his father died, but I didn't know it was of syphilis (pretty common) and that his father went on about all the same exact weirdness that HP writes about. That's pretty fascinating. Well, I'm glad he managed to make some $ and at least mild recognition and peer respect in his own lifetime, very reassuring.
