UntitledYou're kidding yourself if you think cheap 60's stuff was great. I've got a Futurama Sophomore and a Vox Clubman - they're both wall hangers, not gigable guitars.
That Silvertone amp would be about $800 now allowing for inflation. Not really cheap.

Untitlednot true. I have 2 'cheap' korean build guitars and they play great. even the local luthier said they are really well made guitars. overcome your prejudices and give them a try ;-)

Untitledthat was only commercial ones like the 5th estate the really lo-fi BFTG-style bands had cheap gear and anyway the gibsons used would be cheap ones like the lp jr or melody maker.
fair coment for the fenders but compard to gibsons they where affordable

Well first of all, in the 60's it was new – not vintage, but certainly not cheap... and nowadays, equipment from the 80's is considered vintage :)... so the surviving axes/amps (they haven't exactly multiplied) from the 60's are actually halfway antiques. I guess prices will reflect that.
