I thought Wesley Snipes fit well in the roll of Blade but being as he's not really a horror suspense actor, probably Samuel Jackson would have been good (at the time) and they could have indeed made it more gothic. But pretty much, they'd have to start over and find a new actor (maybe an unknown this time?).

It was sort of done with the "Blade" films and TV series, but honestly, there really can't be much of a comparison. The comics were very gothic in tone, and "Blade" was high-energy/action (if you didn't see it). The Blade franchise wasn't horrible (I never watched the series), but the comics were only used as source material for character names. If a director had the vision to bring the original comics to the big screen, I think it would work, especially incorporating other Marvel horror comics characters into it over a course of several films. It would be interesting to have Blade, the Nightstalkers, Deacon Frost, and of course Dracula brought together into a well written, gothic piece. Maybe even have one of the films be a lead-in to a "Werewolf By Night" film, and possibly "Frankenstein Unleashed".
