There's loads of rock happening here!  The Bottom of the Hill, The Independent, Slim's, the Warfield and the Eagle Tavern, just to name a few.  Be certain to check the calendar for each bar (especially The Eagle Tavern), so you know who is comin' through town or playing to suit yer mood.  I believe the Eagle Tavern can be quite good on Thursday nights, but again, double check in advance each club's calendar/schedule.
