Hello comrades,
I recently (Okay, not that recently--March) moved to Sydney from Brisbane, and though I'd been told it was pretty dead down here in terms of garage music and its many delightful relatives, I kind of shrugged that off as unlikely, given the size of the city and the sheer number of musicians that would have to live here.
Surely some mathematical law must state that within such a fray, a certain number of individuals would be perpetrating my kind of musical crime.
The first few months of my residence here were spent growing accustomed to my first full-time gig out of uni, and all the trappings of being an adult that I'd never faced before. Recently, given that all of it is now under control, I've been trying to figure out the comings and goings of Sydney music.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Bands, venues, even websites similar to this one with a Sydney bent (if that's appropriate)?
Please forgive the n00blet 101 post, but I've failed pretty hard up to this point.
