I can't believe I hadn't seen this post yet. Anyway....Satisfaction, I Wanna Be Your Man, and Around and Around are my top 3 Stones recordings. It's the sound.

I know this is never a very popular pick when talking about the stones, and I love exile and the rest as much as everyone else, but Miss You will make me dance like a damn fool.

Keith Richards will be on CBS Sunday Morning October 24th. I think It will focus on his new book, which he calls Mick "unbearable".

I liked the early Stones. My favorite is probably, "Get Off of My Cloud" "Gimme Shelter" and "Can't You Hear Me Knockin'" Pretty good too, tho, I have never really been a Stones Fan or even The Who for that matter. Played out.

Just to digress a little I've been told by a member of Derek's Accent that their music style was heavily based on The Who. Makes sense when you think about it!

I'm not the biggest Stones fan in the world but I'm gonna have to go with "Beast of Burden." There is something about the way Mick Jagger says "Pretty, pretty girls..."

The Stones should collaborate with Leonard Cohen for a sequel: "Turd on a Wire" Brother Panti-Christ said:
Turd On The Run was on repeat in my iTunes last night, played it 27 times...

      TURD ON THE RUN
      (M. Jagger/K. Richards)

Grabbed hold of your coat tail but it come off in my hand,
I reached for your lapel but it weren't sewn on so grand.
Begged, promised anything if only you would stay,
Well, I lost a lot of love over you.
Fell down to my knees and I hung onto your pants,
But you just kept on runnin' while they ripped off in my hands.
Di'mond rings, vaseline, you give me disease,
Well, I lost a lot of lover over you.
      I boogied in the ballroom, I boogied in the dark;
Tie you hands, tie you feet, throw you to the sharks.
Make you sweat, make you scream, make you wish you'd never been,
I lost a lot of love over you.

I've always been particularly fond of the songs that Keith sings lead vocals on, like Happy or Before They Make Me Run, but I like just about everything at least through to the Tattoo You album(1981)...Monkey Man is another favorite, but that's Mick.

I really love their outtakes album Metamorphosis, esp. "Sleepy city" and "I'd much rather be with the boys".

"Citadel" for this fierce hammer-on-anvil-sound on one channel.

"Dandelion" for its beauty and its distorted but still sweet guitar.

"She's a rainbow" for this great piano sound that I love since I was a little child.

"Wild horses", because it always gives me chills, no matter how kitschy it may be.

      "Angie", see above.

"Under the boardwalk", because it's supposed to be a summer song, but to me always sounded like something dark and melancholic.

      Man, there's many more...

Brown Sugar! Just because that guitar line combined with the stomping drums always gets me, so classic and full of melody and, and coolness and instantness! But as a kid it was always Doo Doo Doo Doo Heartbreaker because of that chorus! Always stuck with me
