      Playlist Feb2/2012

On this show we had special guests The Oily Birds playing an electric/acoustic set in the onair studio plus a short trib to our fallen hero, Lux Interior who left us 3 years ago Feb 4th.

      1. The Dustaphonics...Eat My Dustaphonic...from The Party Girl CD on Dirty Water Records. Great way to start the show with an instro with lots of motorcycle and car noises!

      2. The Cramps...The Way I Walk....from the Munster Box Set, File Under Sacred Music, Early Singles 1978-1981. Just got this brand new Cramps boxset and it's a beautiful package of 10 singles, all in picture sleeves, an envelope of postcards, LOTC members card and LOTC head honcho Lindsay Hutton does the notes on the back that summarize it all so perfectly! A must have for us Cramps freaks!

Above is a pic of the sleeves and box with an amazing picture of Bryan in the center!!!

      3. The Cramps...Domino....as above

      4. The Cramps...Lonesome Town...as above

      5. The Cramps...Fever...as above. Picked some slow songs for this trib as the dynamic range of Lux's voice comes across so well on these pressings.

      6. The Diodes...Catwalked...from the Action/Reaction CD that seems to be charting on lots of radio stations, but for some odd reason, not CHRW.

      7. The Oily Birds....Falling In Love....live over the airwaves. Bryan and Jon of The Oily Birds play in the onair studio and i try to mix on the fly with only headphones in the onair studio. As always we push the limits and come through for all of you dedicated listeners out in radioland. Big thanx to Jon and Bryan for coming in and they will be doing an evening show at Brennan's Bistro on saturday night (that's tomorrow).

      8. The Oily Birds...Little Things...as above. Somehow the title of this one summed it up perfectly as Jon's battery in his little amp died part way through the song...lol...We're used to technical difficulties so a CD was quickly tossed on while Jon went searching for a replacement 9V battery.

Jonny Needle and Big Mac Daddy playing live to air on Radio What Wave!!!

      9. The Hook Up...A Happening For Many...from the Call Up The Devil CD. The Hook Up and Oily Birds have shared the stage on many an occasion here in London.

      10. The Hypnotics...Here She Comes Now...from Windsor and the title is apt as a 9V battery was quickly located.

      11. The Oily Birds...Girl Don't Tell....live over the airwaves.

      12. The Oily Birds...Love Is Lies...as above.

      13. The Oily Birds...All Kindsa Girls...as above but Bryan adds some backup vocals.

      14. The Oily Birds...Heart Of The City....as above and that's where The Oily Birds will be playing tomorrow eve.

      15. The Bloody 5...New York City...official release of this song is today and we were one of the first to air this Demics cover a coupla weeks back.

      16. Elk...Sheldon....from the Balm Beach 7" and Elk will be at The APK tonight in London Ontario.

      17. Radio Birdman...What Gives?...from the Radios Appear LP from 1978 and a request for Mike.

      18. Sonic Avenues...Givin' Up On You...from their brand new CD Television Youth and they will be in town the end of March at Call The Office.

      19. Deadly Hearts...Handshake...from their self titled debut CD which features our pal Myles Deck who is coming to London next week to visit Western University.

      20. Joy Division...Warsaw...from the Substance LP...Dead Souls (JD tribute band) is playing with The Oily Birds on saturday night at Brennan's.

      21. The Ballantynes...Railtown Abbey...brand new 7" on La Ti Da Records outta Victoria BC.

      22. Sphnixs...Time Above Me...from their split 12" with Miesha and The Spanks.

Wanda Jackson at the London Music Hall, summer 2010...it was a really hot and intimate show!

      23. Wanda Jackson...This Gun Don't Care...from the Country Trash compilation and Wanda explains why you don't mess around with her.

Big Thanx to The Oily Birds for coming onair to play live. Thanx for all the phone-ins, requests and emails.
Next week we'll be spinning a lot of records as the London Record show is coming up on Sunday Feb 12th at Centennial Hall. I'll be at the CHRW table so come say Hey!

Here's the playlist from Jan 26/2012

This is part 2 of an all London Ontario show playing only cassettes by hometown bands....this is only the tip of the iceberg. Keeping the cassette technology alive in sleepy London Ontario from Western University (as it is officially now called) radio station CHRW!!

      1. Crash 80's...2 + 2...from the Animals Fight Back, the first official compilation cassette of London bands in which the bands were aware of, and had a say in the song on the tape. Crash 80's also released an excellent 7" called Waiting For The Heat/Thrills.

      2. Dead Rabbits....Tell That Girl To Shutup...recorded at the Cedar Lounge 2/9/82. This one goes out to Wanda Dead Rabbit who happened to be celebrating a birthday during the day this show aired.

      3. Groove Things...We Get High...recorded live at Notes 6/5/91. At one point Notes was a disco and later started having live bands. The Grooves Things featured Rob Munro on guitar/vocals who had been in The Frankenstein 5 and is about to unleash a new garagepunk combo in Hamilton Ontario.

      4. The Woodmen...Bring My Baby Back...demo...Singer Tom Dunphy is now in country combo The Rizdales who backed up Wanda Jackson last time she toured this area.

      5. Thin Line...White On Black...from a self titled cassette and features the bass playing of Peter Gripp who is currently in the Vancouver based Living Deadbeats.

      6. Nosmo King Jr...City Of Faith...from their cassette called What A World Eh Doggy? from around 1985 and the band morphed into The Corn Dogs who released several more cassettes and at least one LP.

      7. The Zellots...Let's Play House...recorded at The Cedar Lounge 9/21/81 for Rose and Doug's wedding. The Zellots will be reuniting with all original members on Oct 26th...more details soon.

      8. The Zellots...On The Dole...recorded live at The York Hotel (now called Call The Office) 5/10/80.

      9. The Zellots...Blades...1981 demo recorded at EMAC studios.

      10. Radio 4...PTL...from the first London band compilation called Domestic Animals that was done by Peter Moore and Gerry Collins. Some of the bands were unaware that they were on this tape until it was out...hence the second cassette, Animals Fight Back as mentioned on track one of this show.

      11. Sheep Look Up....Jumper...from their only cassette and was produced by Peter Moore. They started as VD Teens, then Raw Dogs, then Radio 4 and finally settled on Sheep Look Up. The press called them Joy Division rip offs which was a quick short sighted comparision. Live, Sheep Look Up could be ferocious!! They combined art school sensibilities with raw punk anger to create their own sound! A band that coulda and shoulda....

      12. Sheep Look Up...Civil Disobedience...as above. A song that should havebeen played at the rally for the unemployed EMD workers this past saturday.

      13. NFG...Cowboy Rock...recorded somewhere sometime, probably late 70's. Thanx to Bob Glidden for this one. NFG will be reuniting for a show Oct 26th.

      14. 63 Monroe....Give 'Em Up...recorded at The Cedar Lounge Easter 81. 63 Monroe were a later incarnation of NFG and later they became First Date (Fall 1981) and then went back to 63 Monroe, the name they still use...make sense...if i wasn't there, it wouldn't make any sense to me either.

      15. 63 Monroe...Cyanide...from their self titled cassette from the early 80's.

      16. Legend Killers....Strychnine...from a demo May 1986. Legend Killers were a fave of What Wave zine and appeared on all 10 cassettes, as well as a 7" compilation and a compilation on OG/What Wave Records called Mr Garager's Neighbourhood. And we released a 7" EP by them as well...and a few years back a CD....

      17. Legend Killers...99th Floor...as above.

      18. Legend Killers...C'Mon Everybody...recorded live at Hard Times 9/22/88. Legend Killers shows were always lively entertaining shows that would get people up dancing and drinking. Hard Times was also known as Kellys, Bullwinkles and many other names....but calling a club Hard Times has to be one of the stupidest names for a clubs ever!!

      19. Flying Squad...I'm So Cool...from a cassette and dedicated to a certain obnoxious DJ at CHRW who has long gone....the golden girl as we used to refer to her after she claims she was given a golden shower while leaving the Victoria Tavern one evening. That event made the London Free Press....the evil punk rocker urinates on the head of an innocent or something like that. Punks have fun too!!

      20. Flying Squad...Think For Yourself...from a cassette and this goes out to guitarist Larry and his wife Cathy who are going through some really tough times at the moment.

      21. Flying Squad...Fie On You...demo version of the song that appeared on Four Whom The Bell Tolls, a 7" that came free with What Wave 16.

      22. Crawling Kingsnakes...Rock Like Jerry Lee...from their self titled cassette. A later version of this band was based in Hamilton Ontario and released at least 2 CD's.

      23. The Finks...I Think We're Alone Now...from a demo 4/29/87 and features bassist PeterGripp who later moved to Vancouver and is still playing.

      24. Spiny Anteaters...Tonic...from the Live and Live cassette....composed of 2 couples...an all in the family band.

That's it for the cassette shows for now,we'll bring the decks back in a few weeks to play some more cassettes.
Next week we've got The Oily Birds onair to do an acoustic set as they play Sat Feb 4th at Brennan's Beer Bistro with The Curious (new combo with Tom from The Cut Outs) and a Joy Division cover band.
Thanx for all the calls, emails, facebook messages, etc....and thanx to everybody that tuned in.

      Playlist Jan 19/2012

This is part 1 of an all cassette show featuring some of London Ontario's coolest bands from about 1978 up to today....

      1. The Demics...New York City....from the Domestic Animals cassette that was released back in 1983 and was 2 individuals idea of what the London indy music scene was all about. None of the band on this tape were aware that it was coming out. This song was recorded at The Cedar Lounge 12/21/79.

      2. Uranus...Back To School Days....live at Buskerfest 7/25/93. Uranus reunited for this show and played on a truck trailer in what was a parking lot and is now the JLC (big ass arena where hockey is played).

      3. Uranus...5 Bucks...recorded at The Embassy Hotel 3/22/82 and was broadcast live over the airwaves of CHRW.

      4. The Sci-Phonics...Uranium Rock....recorded at the Book Brothers Christmas Party 12/23/89. Members of Uranus went on to The Sci-phonics and were aptly named London's coolest band many years ago.

      5. The Sci-Phonics....Round and Round...from their self titled cassette and was also on a What Wave cassette many years ago.

      6. Frank Ridsdale....Shake Some Action...recorded live at the Radio What Wave studio 10/16/10 and broadcast over the airwaves. One of my all time fave songs done by our good pal Frank! Thanx Frank!

      7. UIC...Cheap Generation...from their very first demos 1986. They started out in Exeter Ontario and by way of London, ended up in Toronto where they all lived in the same house for a short while. The greatest band to ever come out of Exeter Ontario!!

      8. UIC...I Got Nerve...from the Accusonic demos....1986?

      9. UIC...What I Want...live at Call The Office 3/16/85. Most of this show was recorded live on video by Wayne Fisher/Danny Napalm and some songs have appeared on youtube including this song...
      http://youtu.be/0BHb0ocm_1g

That jerk dancing at the front of the stage in the black leather jacket looks kinda familiar....

      10. Positively Stompin'...Ain't I'm A Dog....demo recorded in the early 90's and was on a What Wave cassette. Positively Stompin' had a couple of former UIC members and a former Legend Killer as well as a present day Stuntdouble. Country rock at the wrong time for the masses.

      11. Arco Di Scarico....Miss Pearl...1995 demo. Some of the finest rockabilly to ever come out of London as this band name changed to:

      12. Viv Sun and The Black Holes...Love Me....1996 demo. Presently known as The Black Holes and still the finest rockabilly combo in town.

      13. Hank and Frank...Nancy Sinatra....Hank the Bookman and Frank Ridsdale recorded several tunes, all killer, with bizarre lyrics/subjects but some of the best almost unheard music from London. This particular song was on a What Wave cassette and when Hank formed Teurto Loco this song went to the band and they still play it live....usually when i'm in the crowd!!

      14. The Hippies...Neat Neat Neat...recorded live at Fryfogles 1/16/84. The Hippies released one 7" and shoulda done so much more....but...

      15. Tenement 13...Can Teens... demo from 7/22/83. The Hippies with a new name...why, i dunno.

      16. Boy From Nowhere...Hot Smoke and Sasafrass...recorded live at The Langarth Bar And Grill 11/1/86 for a Halloween party. Boy From Nowhere were 3 of the Hippies with a new lead singer and a different take on the music as they were the first band in London to do the 60's garage thing here in London. Bless them for doing that!! The Langarth was our basement as we hosted a few parties down there....think our neighbours were glad when we moved as there were always scary looking people from out of town bands staying over...some, like The Gruesomes, had to be almost tossed out...fun times!!

      17. Young Fast And Scientific...You Told Me...a demo from the late 80's. Kelly Mulvey, The Hippies vocalist is the singer in this Dictator blessed band.

      18. Evil Hoodoos...Back In The USA....members of Boy From Nowhere and Frankenstein V and Legend Killers merged into this drunken mess...listen carefully to the end of this song, if you're Canadian it'll probably make you smile.

      19. Slacker...New Song...early 90's demo from this Diane McPherson combo.

      20. Morganfields...I Ain't Flippin' Burgers No More...from the Scribblehead cassette from 1992 and features Alan Pigguns who has gone on to bigger things.

      21. Smack Daddy...Ring My Bell??...from a demo that has absolutely no info on it. Brunswick band.

      22. Frankenstein V...Midnight Hour....recorded live at Call The Office...7/19/90. The first real snarly garagepunk combo who totally embraced the 60's to come out of London....in fact the only!

      23. Frankenstein V...Kill And Go Hide...a demo that appeared on a What Wave cassette...now if they could have written more originals like this, they mighta become legends!

      24. Hi-Tones....tried to play a live song for the last minute of the show, but for some reason couldn't get any volume...ya, there were lots of screwups in this show, but it's all cassettes and was a ton of fun doing it!

If you want to know more about the London Ontario punk music scene, check out the documentary Stinkin' Out The Joint by Mario Circelli (he was general manager at CHRW for many years). It's in 4 parts on youtube, here's a link to the first part:

      http://youtu.be/FgSlxrfjYFE

Next week, the saga continues with tunes by Flying Squad, Zellots, 63 Monroe, NFG, Crawling Kingsnakes, Finks and a TON more.....Thursday January 26th at 7PM.

And here's a link to the archived show so you can hear all of the mistakes and some really cool music:

      1. Osterberg....London Eats Its Own...from the 10" approx mid 90's maybe. Title is so perfect for London and coincidentally, London's theme song was released the same day...total coincidence. BTW, London's theme song sounds like castrato male warbling ala Styx/Rush or any of those other high pitched male vocal holdouts from the dinosaur age. Osterberg is the real deal jack!

      2. NRBQ...Me and the Boys...from the Tiddly Winks LP and goes out to drummer Tom Ardolino who passed away earlier this week.

      3. NRBQ...12 Bar Blues...from the Grooves In Orbit LP. Is it a parody of the 12 bar blues, or just a really cool rock'n'roll tune?

      4. Deadly Hearts... The Wobble...from their self titled debut CD and from Halifax.

      5. The Cozyrs...Alone In A Crowd of 1000's...from the Get Real Amigo CD which you can download for free.

      6. UIC...Bomb Boys...from the Our Garage LP and goes out to guitarist Ted who has finally joined facebook.

      7. UIC...New Race...from the Live Like 90 LP on OG Records.

      8. UIC...Cure The War...from the Our Garage LP.

      9. UIC...Pushed Into The Hole...from the Wiseman Sessions unreleased CD....after playing 4 UIC songs in a row, i feel much better and hope you do too!

      10. Hi-Tones...Rocco Perri...from a demo CD that was at CHRW. Local combo that is playing tonight at the Spoke here in town.

      11. Greasemarks...Greasemark Boogie...from a demo CD from about 2 years ago and they will be playing at The Victoria Tavern tonight.

      12. The Blasters...Marie Marie...from the Teenage Cruisers LP from 1980. The soundtrack for a rockabilly porno movie from about 1980....love them greasy pompadoured dicks!!!

      13. The Hypnotics...Here She Comes Now...from the Static Fuzz Radio CD and from Windsor Ontario as is the next band.

      14. High Mother...Dead City...from the Gotta Get Love CD.

      15. Blue Cheer...Summertime Blues...from the Vincebus Eruptum LP and a request.

      16. The Hook Up...A Happening For Many...from the Call Up The Devil CD which is about to be released.

      17. The Dustaphonics...When You Gonna Learn...from the Party Girl LP which has just been released by Dirty Water Records.

      18. The Ballantynes...The Rail Town Abbey...a 7" on La Ti Da Records that just came out and features former Tranzmitor Jarrod on keys/vocals/etc.

      19. The Bloody 5...New York City...not yet released, this is obviously a cover of The Demics anthem from 1979. Only the 2nd time ever to be given radio play, these youngsters speed it up and belt it out.

      20. The Maxines...Sweet Nothins...from a 7" on La Ti Da Records and a 2 piece outta Olympia Washington.

      21. The Marshmallow Overcoat...ESP...from The Complete Sound 6 CD box set.

      22. The Diodes...Time Damage...recorded live at Call The Office here in London Ontario 11/18/11.

      23. NFG...Hyjack Victim....live somewhere in 79 or 80. Thanx to bass player Bob Glidden for this recording.

      24. The Animals...Shake...from the Animalism LP and in glorious mono.

      25. The Animals...Baby Let Me Take You Home...from the double Animals Anthology LP, a stereo version released in the early 80's.

      26. The Animals...Rock Me Baby...from the Animalism LP. Had to cut this one short as the other host wasn't quite ready to start their show.

      27. Edgar Breau...Dandelion Kingdom...from the just released Patches Of Blue CD. Edgar is the vocalist/guitarist/songwriter for Simply Saucer and this is his 2nd solo CD. It arrived in the post just as i was heading  to the station to do this show.

Here's a link to the download for this show:

Next week, we're going to bring in the cassette decks and play all local music....ie demos, live, unreleased etc as January is local music month at CHRW...you might just hear some Legend Killers, Zellots, 63 Monroe, Sheep Look Up, Sci-Phonics, Boy From Nowhere, B5 Blue, Lonesome Ghost, The Fine Print and a pile of other cool local combos spanning 1977 and onwards!

The first show of the new year, called "London Ontario Is Once Again In The News....EMD Workers Locked Out" and here's the facebook link for this show's event:

      https://www.facebook.com/events/340476152629331/

The quick rundown, company gets millions from the federal government in tax breaks approx 2 years ago and one of the deals is they can't close/move the plant. Caterpillar (which just recently bought the company) decides to cut all workers wages and benefits by 50% during union contract renewals. Union and workers refuse the pay cut, the company locks the workers out and looks like it will move the equipment to another plant, in Muncie Indiana. London has almost the highest unemployment in Canada and recently lost a Ford plant putting many others out of work. The federal government won't step in because it says it's not in the business to settle labour disputes, yet recently got involved when Canada Post and Air Canada were in contract negotiations. The media is watching this story as it could set precedents in future union negotiations.

So this show, is songs about working, labour, jobs, bosses etc....we had TONS of phone-ins during the show with lots of great requests and support for the workers!

      1. Ray Condo and His Hardrock Goners...Greenback Dollar...from their first LP, Crazy Date from the late 80's.

      2. The Demics...Factories...from the New York City CD on OPM. Played this song last week and a regular listener who was employed at Ford called in to talk about how many of the Ford employess got screwed when the plant closed down. He talked about guys that had been there for years, but weren't old enough to retire, hence have to find income to pay their mortgages, feed the family, and pay the bills. This got me thinking,  hence this week's show.

      3. Subhumans...Big Picture...from the Incorrect Thoughts LP from 1980. The Subhumans are a highly political punk band, listen to just about any of their songs and you'll get an honest look at a situation that you may not even know exists. These guys put a lot of thought and effort into their songs and they've been among my fave bands for many years. They were the last band that i saw at legendary Toronto club The Edge, days before it closed in 1981. They also played London on that same tour and the Ford worker mentioned above, happened to make an audio tape of that show which occasionally gets some airplay here on Radio WW. The Subhumans have done 2 reunion tours, in 2006 and 2010, both times playing at Call The Office here in London and they haven't lost any of the anger/energy/intelligence they've always had!

      4. Blue Peter...Factory Living....from the Test Patterns For Living EP on Ready Records 1980.

      5. Johnny Cash...One Piece At A Time...had to play this from a crappy mp3 download...just couldn't find a decent vinyl or CD copy...sorry for the poor sound quality, but this is a song that just had to be played. The ultimate rip off of the company whilst working at an auto plant!

      6. Washington Squares...D Train...from their self titled debut LP from 1987. This song drips with anger about working the 9 to 5 thing....Washington Squares played at a place called Kiplings here in London 4/24/88 and it was a CHRW presentation. We did an interview with the band after the show for What Wave zine and that was published. In the same issue we did an interview with Teenage Head's Dave Rave. Coincidentally Lauren Agnelli from the Washington Squares (based in NYC) and Dave Rave (based in Hamilton Ontario) who didn't know each other when the issue was published, ended up in a band together called The Dave Rave Conspiracy (later Dave Rave Group) and whenever we saw them after that issue was published, would say it was us that brought them together....weird coincidence or something.

      7. The Vogues...5 O'clock World...from the LP of the same name.

      8. The Subhumans...Modern Business... from the New Dark Age Parade CD.

      9. The Ramones...The Job That Ate My Brain...from the Mondo Bizarro CD from 1992.

      10. DOA...Liar For Hire...from the War On 45 EP from 1982. Another politically charged punk band and like The Subhumans (who they've traded members with over the years) call Vancouver home. A couple months back, prior to DOA playing at Call The Office here in London, lead singer/guitarist Joe Shithead gave a talk/solo performance at Grooves Records and talked about his days listening to protest songs prior to submerging into the punk scene.

      11. Flying Squad...Brian Mulroney....local combo recorded this as a demo in the early 80's and the above mentioned Ford employee just might be doing the vocals on this one. For those that don't know, Brian Mulroney was the Prime Minister of Canada several years back...he was a 2 faced fucking liar as this song points out.

      12. Jimmy Reed....Big Boss Man...from the 1980 LP Upside Your Head...probably recorded in about 1962.

      13. New Bomb Turks...Mr Suit...from the Destroy-Oh-Boy Lp on Crypt Records from 1993. NBT's played London a couple of times in the mid 90's at Call The Office.

      14. Woody Guthrie...Talking Dust Bowl Blues...from 1940 and one of the first white protest singers. An outspoken, ahead of his time, intelligent person that we could really use right about now.

      15. Porter Wagoner....11 Cent Cotton...from his 2007 CD Wagonmaster.

      16. Deja Voodoo....16 Tons...from the 1985 LP Cemetery.

      17. The Zellots...On The Dole...late 70's demo recorded in Vancouver. The Zellots story is told in the latest issue of Mongrel Zine available locally at Grooves and Hot Dog.

      18. John Lee Hooker...Want Ad Blues...from one of his many Greatest Hits LP's,

      19. Leadbelly...Nation Defense Blues...from a Smithsonian Folkways CD.

      20. Wayne Kramer...Something Broken In The Promised Land...from the Dangerous Madness CD from 1996...'some motherfucker is pissing on my grave, how much irrigation can  i stand" opens the song and you KNOW that Brother Wayne is FUCKING  PISSED OFF!!! Easily my fave Wayne Kramer CD and blows me away every listen!

      21. CRASS... System....from The Stations Of The Crass double LP.

      22. Dead Kennedys...California Uber Alles...from the Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegtables LP from 1980 LP.

      23. Leadbelly...There's A Man Going Round Taking Names....some calm before the next punk assault.

      24. Sex Pistols...Anarchy In The UK....from the Never Mind The Bollocks LP.

      25. Steve Earle...Time Has Come Today...from the Side Tracks CD. Steve's been politically motivated for years, and this one brings out some anger.

      26. DOA....General Strike...from the Let's Wreck The Party LP...a great way to end the show as this may be what it comes down to....remember to excercise your right to vote in the next election.

Hope you dug this show and big thanx to all of the call-ins and listeners who sent emails about this one! We might play a few more songs in this vein next week so tune in to find out.

Last show for 2011, but certainly not a best of 2011 show as we'll leave that for someone else who is more connected with current music...probably some faux hipster dude with a beard who hasn't bathed for awhile...shades of 1968 as history always repeats itself.

      1.  Gruesomes...What Wave...from Mr Garager's Neighbourhood LP from 1989 on OG Records.

      2. The Cynics...Cry Cry Cry...live at Call The Office 10/29/11. These guys have been around since the mid 80's and been to London 3 times in total. This was THE BEST EVER!!! They were on fucking fire that night and i'd just wished i'd done a proper recording of this show. This was recorded at Gregg's side of the stage, right near his amp, hence the heavy guitar emphasis in the mix. I thought it would be a go through the motions show...i was dead fucking wrong!!  The Cynics were supposed to play here back in Dec 89 with The Legend Killers...it was one of those heavy snowfall days and The Cynics got stuck in Buffalo and the LK's had to do a full night to a packed house. The 10/29 show more than made up for the cancelled show!

      3. 63 Monroe...Bad Bad Rock'n'Roll....from their latest 7". Supposedly an LP coming in the new year.

      4. NFG...Weekend Punx...recorded live, possibly at the York Hotel back in the late 70's. Pure punk rock anger!! NFG devolved into 63 Monroe.

      5. High Mother...New Hero...from the brand new Gotta Get Love CD. Windsor Ontario hard rock'n'rollers!

      6. Etta James...Tell Mama....from her Greatest Sides LP. Etta is not doing well..

      7. King Khan and His Shrines...Saba Lou..from the Three Hairs and You're Mine CD on Voodoo Rhythm Records. King Khan and the boys were in London a coupla years back as the first date of their North American tour....there were just as many people in the band as in the audience. What the fuck is wrong with London?!? And the band were absolute killers that night!!!

      8. Real Kids...Do The Boob...this song could easily be about London...listen to the lyrics closely.

      9. The Barracudas...Next Time Around...from the Garbage Dump Tapes LP. Jeremy brought his young Barracudas to The Black Shire  here in London and were just amazing!! All 40 people in attendance would agree!!

      10. The Demics....Talk Talk... from the New York City CD and the start of our tribute to Sean Bonniwell of The Music Machine who passed away last week.

      11. Music Machine...Trouble.

      12. Music Machine...Masculine Intuition.

      13. Music Machine...Talk Talk...all of these songs were taken from the Rhino Greatest Hits and the Big Beat re-ish of the first LP. Talk Talk was/is  possibly one of the angriest of the 60's garage punk tunes and rated by many as THE best song of that era. No disagreement here as the energy/anger in that song is just so perfect!!
Music Machine would hit the stage clad from head to toe in black...black turtle necks, tight black trousers, and each member would wear one black leather glove! Certainly ominous for the mid 60's and set the precendent for such 80's combos as The Fuzztones and Gruesomes, both borrowed the imagery, with The Fuzztones emulating the music and making a career out of it. Certainly nothing wrong with that...borrow from the best!!

      14. Dave Rave...Anne Marie...from the Live With What You Know CD on Bongobeat Records. Major airplay in the US for Dave with this powerpop gem and Radio WW was the first to air this tune as label honcho Ralph Alfonso handed us the CD hot off the presses!! And Ralph says he'll be at the next London record show coming up in a few weeks.

      15. Robin Lane and The Chartbusters...When Things Go Wrong...from the Rhino CD Mass Ave, a collection of Boston combos from 75 to 83. Great emotional powerpop!

      16. Party Lights...Before You Came Here...new 7" from this NYC based combo.

      17. The Hook Up....Tantrum Girls Deserve To Die...from the brand new Call Up The Devil CD from this ultra hardworking combo from Montreal. In 2011 they released 2 CD's and a cassette! And played a shitload of shows in Ontario and Quebec....and appeared on one of the garagepunk hideout CD's!

      18. Marshmallow Overcoat...Tears...from the brand new 6 CD box set called The Complete Sound. All of this combo's output in one box set!!

      19. Marshmallow Overcoat...Won't Go Away...as above.

      20. The Diodes...Catwalked...from the just released CD issue of Action/Reaction. The Diodes were here in London last month and were just amazing!!

      21. The Finks...Don't Bring Me Down...local combo from the 80's who released a 7" and this is one of the unreleased demos. Peter Gripp played bass in this combo and he's presently in Vancouver in the Living Deadbeats.

      22. Thee Hypnotics...Preachin' and Ramblin'...from a 12" from the late80's. Was reading the latest Shindig and there is a huge indepth article on this combo. This song was listed as one of their best, hence the radio play. Jim Jones was vocalist and he has his own combo called The Jim Jones Revue who put on Killer live shows!

      23. Immortal Lee County Killers....Boom Boom...from their 3rd and last CD. Saw this combo just before they broke up and i became an instant fan for life!! This particular CD, These Bones Will Rise To Love You Again is the perfect mix of gospel, blues, punk and Detroit guitar noises that never fails to blow me away every listen!

      24. Bon...Hey Suzette...from the Static Electricity CD that came out this year. This one just gets better every listen as the pop, psyche and guitar sounds meld together so nicely.

      25. The Pack AD...8...from their Unpersons LP on Mint Records. When they were in town a week  or 2 ago, drummer Maya dedicated this one to me! Right back at ya Maya!!!

      26. The Demics...Factories...from  the New York City CD. This song will be next show's theme as another factory is about to close here in London putting another 700 people out of work.

      27. Deja Voodoo...Monsters In My Garage Got Married...from the Big Pile Of Mud LP from 1988. Gerard from Deja Voodoo made a rare appearance here in London this past summer and did a short set with a mystery drumber!!! Sometimes things work out really well in life!!!

      28. Deadly Hearts...As The Night Ends...from their self titled debut CD. From Halifax and Myles Deck is the drummer.

And so ends the last show for 2011.....Huge Thanx for all of the phone-ins tonite!!! Missed a couple of phone calls as there was just too much going on!!
Happy New Year and see ya next week!

Playlist Dec 22/2011....Annual Radio What Wave Christmess Show

      1. Paul James Band...Run Run Rudolph...from a 7" he released back in 1986. Toronto guitarist who has shared the stage with everyone from Bob Dylan to Lightnin' Hopkins to Bo Diddley...or so the bio goes. Think i remember seeing him at Fryfogles here in London around 1980 as part of a trio doing the rock'n'roll thing.

      2. Mach Bell...C'mon Santa...from the Xmas Snerts Gulcher download CD...Mach was in Thundertrain, a mid 70's protopunk combo from the Boston area.

      3. Johnny Rabb...Christmas Dance...from the Midnight Christmess LP from 1984. Midnight Records was the NYC based label that documented a lot of the NYC mid 80's garage revival..ie Fuzztones, Tryfles, Cheepskates, Vipers, Outta Place and many others. It was also a really cool mail order and store back in those days...we'd take a suitcase full of What Wave zines down to Midnight and trade them for tons of cool records!

      4. Razorbacks...All The Girls Look Prettier at Christmas Time...from a 1987 7" on Tradition Records. Razorbacks were a rockabilly trio, later a 4 piece based outta Toronto who did quite well for themselves in Canada back then. They always put on a highly energetic show.

      5. Youngsters...Christmas In Jail...from the Black Christmas download and listed as a Cramps Christmas wantlist or something along those lines. Dedicated this one to Bandaloop Radio that plays fridays from 6 to 8PM here on CHRW as those guys are probably doing just what the song suggests.

      6. Kenne Highland...Can I Crawl Down Your Chimney...from the Xmas Snerts Gulcher download CD. Kenne was an original punker as he was in The Gizmos, one of the first punk combos in North America. He also has relatives just west of London Ontario and has threatened to come up this way at some time.

      7. 63 Monroe...White Christmas...from a 7" from 1984, London Ontario combo that is somehow still alive and released a 7" in 2011....and supposedly they have an LP coming out soon.

      8. Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet...Santa Ho Ho Ho...from the Savvy Show Stoppers II CD that we somehow got from the official Shadowy Men website...there's also lots of pics of them playing here in London on that site.

      9. Jack Scott...Trouble Brewin'...from the Black Christmas Download...from the man who wrote The Way I Walk which The Cramps have covered. Many years ago, Jack Scott played at the Victoria Park Bandshell here in London Ontario....

      10. The Ramones...Merry Christmas I Don't Want To Fight Anymore...from the Brain Drain LP.

      11. Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet...Winterfresh...from the Savvy Show Stoppers II CD.

      12. Plan 9...Merry Christmas...from the Midnight Christmess LP. Plan 9 played here in London several times in the mid to late 80's and always put on great shows! They are still around today in a slightly different form.

      13. MX 80 Sound...Christmas With The Devil...from the Xmas Snerts Gulcher download. MX 80 Sound were one of those bands that couldn't fit into any category in their early years...they weren't really metal, sorta hard rock, had some artrock tendencies, had 2 drummers at one point and released some of their early stuff on Ralph Records which was home to The Residents and other way out art bands.

      14. Annual Christmas message from The Legendary Stardust Cowboy...the one and only who appeared on Laugh In playing his hit, Paralyzed back in the late 60's.

      15. The Gruesomes...Santa Claus...from the Unchained EP on Primitive Records.

      16. Marshmallow Overcoat...Santa Fuzz...from the 6 CD, The Complete Sound boxset that just came out. All of this Tucson based combo's output in one little box!

      17. Annette and Frankie with The Ventures...The Night Before Christmas...from the LP All Year Party Volume 1 on Martian Records from 1984. This is a Rodney Bingenheimer production.

      18. Bob Seger...Sock It To Me Santa...from the double LP Michigan Brand Nuggets...

      19. Deja Voodoo...Bugs For Christmas...from the Too Cool To Live, Too Smart To Die EP on Midnight Records, 1985.

      20. Sky Saxon...Christmas In The Court Room....from the LP Stuff This In Your Stocking! on Skyclad Records from 1990. Sky was in the legendary Seeds and had the misfortune of passing away on the same day as Michael Jackson.

      21. Das Furlines...O Tannenbaum Now...from the LP Midnight Christmess Again!! NYC based all female combo who were a Monks tribute band and actually played here in London Ontario in the late 80's...it was a phenomenal show that involved a large conch, dancing on the stage with the band, maybe a dance contest and a TON of fun!!!

      22. The Tryfles...Gloria (In Excelsis Deo)...from the Midnight Christmess LP. Remember seeing this combo opening up for The Fuzztones and someone yelled out for guitarist John Fay to put his fist in his mouth...John made his hand into a fist and fit it into his own mouth!! Try it...can't do it, can you! John went on to play for metal bands after his garagerock days.

      23. Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet...Christmas Message...from the Brave New Waves show on CBC.

      24. Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet...Xmas Medley...as above.

      25. Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet...Deck The Halls...as above.

      26. Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet...Silver Bells...as above.

      27. Slickee Boys...Hazy Shades Of Winter...from the Midnight Christmess Again!! LP. Washington DC based combo, who were one of the very first of the mid 70's band to delve into the 60's to help create this garagepunk that we all love to this day. I was a card carrying member of their fan club and we got to see them in about 1984 playing at Irving Plaza in NYC.

      28. Phil Spector...Silent Night...from the Phil Spector Christmas LP. Great way to end a Christmas special with a convicted murderer doing a semi rap over Christmas music. Kinda creepy in a way, but if you look at any recent picture of Phil, he sure does look creepy!

Happy Holidays to all of our loyal listeners and we'll be back next week with more noise to annoy!

Ok, this show was supposed to be a live to air with Weirdonia, a real cool 2 piece combo from Wheatley Ontario. Things started off great, the band showed up right on time, the 2 sound engineers (Dennis and Casey) were both here on time and it looked like everything was going to go great! Weirdonia had a set list all planned out and were getting all psyched up to blow down the walls. Then Preston's synthesizer decided not to work, no big deal, just change the setlist a bit and we'll carry on. Soundcheck sounded really good and everything was ready to go by around 7:30. Weirdonia kicked it in for their first song and it sounded amazing in the control booth. Then suddenly CHRW Manager Grant comes flying in and says 'you've gotta stop them, there's an exam going on directly below us and they've complained about the noise.' At first i figured he was just kidding, but then he said 'they were supposed to send us a schedule of any exams going on downstairs and they didn't but we've gotta stop it anyways.' Well, that put an end to that live to air, just about 1 and a half songs into it....lots of apologies from Grant and myself to the band. Luckily it was Professor Mike Atkinson who was running the exam and he actually came upstairs to say sorry that we had to stop as he was digging it!! Shit happens!
So we did a way longer than usual interview with Weirdonia and played several of their songs...all available when you do a search for Weirdonia as they are the only band with that name! And i also forgot to ask them about their appearances in the last 2 issues of Bananas zine outta NYC which is available locally at Grooves Records.

      1. Black Holes...Miss Pearl...from the live at The Brunswick CD as guitarist Tom Hilborn has an art show at Call The Office on saturday night and the Black Holes will be playing.

      2. Pack AD....Cobra Matte...recorded live at Call The Office 10/7/11 and they are in town tonight at APK.

      3. Pack AD...Hear Me Out...from their latest LP Unpersons.

      4. The Standstills...Blues Radio...from The Human Element CD and they are opening for Pack AD tonight. And they are releasing their first 7" tonight as well!

      5. Osterberg...WIthout You...from their L'Osterberg CD and they are playing with The Black Holes on Saturday night at Call The Office.

      6. Lost Patrol...Blues Theme...from their only LP and the beginning of our Windsor Ontario set as Weirdonia are from outside Windsor and they play there a fair bit. Lost Patrol were featured in many issues of What Wave as well as appearing on several of the cassette compilations and even on Mr Garager's Neighbourhood, the LP we released on OG Records.

      7. Dry Heaves...Portable...from their Rave Up LP Shoot Yourself!. Late 70's Windsor area combo who played at least once here in London at The Cedar Lounge.

      8. The Spys...Underground...from their only 7" and also from The Windsor area. Late 70's/early 80's combo who later became The Nelsons and played at The Cedar Lounge here in London many times.

      9. Weirdonia...How About I Slap Your....beginning of the live to air show.

      10. Weirdonia...Dutchman On The Wall...ending of the live to air show.

      11. The Hook Up...65 Has No Blues...from the Call Up The Devil CD. And, The Hook Up are playing in Windsor Ontario on saturday night.

      12. Weirdonia...1960's Antique Clock...from a download.

      13. Weirdonia...I Walk The Line...from a download.

      14. The Leather Uppers...She Digs Death...from the Pantsuit Party 7". 2 piece from Toronto who remind me of Weirdonia for some bizarre reason.

      15. Leather Uppers...Plastic Hassle...as above.

      16. Leather Uppers...Carne Mysterioso...from the split 7" with Icky Boyfriends.

      17. Leather Uppers...Senorita...as above.

      18. Weirdonia...Masked Boys Choir...from a download.

      19. Bobby Barnett...Drink Canada Dry...from the Country Trash CD and there's a line about seeing Detroit in the rear view mirror while driving out of Windsor. Pure country trash.

      21. Weirdonia...Green Tables...from a download.

      22. The Diodes...Catwalker...from the Action/Reaction CD on Bongobeat Records.

      23. The Diodes...Time Damage...recorded live at Call The Office 11/18/11. I may have played more than one song from this live show as i was scrambling as the next DJ didn't show up....first time this has ever happened to me in over 8 years onair!!!

HUGE thanx to Weirdonia for coming onair and next time we'll do it proper! Check them out if you get a chance as they are a lot of fun live and recorded.

Next week we'll be spinning all Christmas songs....not your usual Christmas fare as long time listeners will know and we'll have The Legendary Stardust Cowboy calling in with his annual Christmas message.

      Playlist Dec 8/2011

On this show, we commemerate the Montreal Massacre of 1989 by playing all women's voices.

      1. Holly And The Italians...Tell That Girl To Shutup....from The Right To Be Italian LP from 1981.

      2. Dead Rabbits...Your Ego...from the Boot To The Head reunion CD recorded at Call The Office here in London 7/5/2002. This goes out to bassist Dave Lightfoot who passed away last week. Dave was in a few of the very first punk bands to come out of London, The Regulators, The Sinners and as heard, The Dead Rabbits.

      3. Dead Rabbits...No Way...as above. Dead Rabbits didn't do any recording when they existed in the late 70's/early 80's although a couple of live shows from the Cedar Lounge have been preserved on cassette...we've played snippets of these over the years.

      4. Thrills...Hey...from the Dionysus compilation LP Shielded By Death compiled by our pal Keith Grave. Boston based, Thrills were a late 70's combo that shoulda been better known.

      5. The Living Deadbeats...Time...from the garagepunk. com download CD Songs The Hideout Taught Us. Features Londoner Pete Fink on bass.

      6. Cordcalling...When I Scream...from their first CD, London based couple who play out fairly regularly.

      7. Dishrags...I Don't Love You...from their Love/Hate CD on OPM that came out in 1997. Victoria all girl punk combo from the late 70's.

      8. Red Aunts...Sleeping In The Wet Spot...from their Drag CD on SFTRI.

      9. Sphinxs...Time Above Me...from their split 12" with Miesha and The Spanks.

      10. Nikki And The Corvettes...Back Seat Love...from their 1980 debut LP on Bomp Records.

      11. Nikki Corvette and The Stingrays...Back To Detroit...from the CD of the same name from 2008...Cousin Johnny is on the drums on this one.

      12. Party Lights...Before You Came Here...from their new 7" and based in NYC.

      13. Shanker and Romps...Get Lucky With Me...from their Pancakin' CD. 2 piece outta Ottawa that features Patrick Shanks on guitar and Romps on drumbs and vocals. One of the funnest bands to see live as they put a smile on everyone's face.

      14. Amy Rigby...Dancing With Joey Ramone...from the Little Fugitive CD. Amy now tours with her husband Wreckless Eric and are an amazing live act if you get a chance to catch them.

      15. Vibrating Beds...What You Do To Me....from their 7" and outta Winnipeg.

      16. Photoroman...Faux Depart...from their 7" and outta Quebec.

      17. Hook Up...Fin...from their soon to be release CD, Call Up The Devil.

      18. Big Maybelle...New Kind Of Mambo...1954 Okeh sessions. Maybelle was the first to record Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On that Elvis made into a standard.

      19. Sister Rosetta Tharpe...He's The Lily Of The Valley...from the Spirituals In Rhythm LP. Love the way she puts the repetitive emphasis on Lily....almost rockabilly like.  One of the wildest female guitarists ever!

      20. Sister Rosetta Tharpe...Jericho...from the Gospel Train LP. Picked this LP up for almost nothing at the last London Record show and it's a goodun!

      21. Dustaphonics...Burlesque Queen...from the just released Party Girl on Dirty Water Records. Tura Satana wrote the lyrics for this one just before she passed on.

      22. Zellots...Soldiers...from the Emac 1981 demos and from London Ontario. You can read all about The Zellots in Mongrel Zine #10 outta Vancouver.

      23. Demolition Doll Rods...Queen Bee Drag Racin'...from the Tasty LP. 2 gals and a Gory transvestite talk about drag racing....

      24. Nona Rae...Real Cool Kitty...from the Rockarolla Ahillabilly WIng Ding Do LP that came out in the late 80's when there were tons of crazy rockabilly comps coming out.

      25. Satan's Cheerleaders...I'm Damned...from the Infinity CD on SFRTRI. Originally released as a 7' and features Vampira, the Z movie actress who appeared in many trashy flicks in the late 50's/early 60's.

      26. Miss Delois...Daddy Was A Preacher and Mamma Was A Go Go Girl...from the Country Trash CD.

      27. Stolen Minks...Batman...from the Family Boycott CD. Love song to Batman from this Halifax all girl trash combo.

We started this last minute show (originally we were pre-empted by UWO Hockey and then Mustang Nation host, Dan Soden asked if we wanted to start at 6PM...definite no brainer as we've got so much new music to get out there) as we started at 6PM, hence the 3 parts to the podcast.

      1. Uranus....Gilligan's Island...from the You're So Square LP from 1980. This is the band that started it all here in London Ontario. These guys were playing Johnny Burnette, Nick Lowe, Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, John Hiatt, Ricky Nelson and tons more while most of us were still listening to bad 70's arena rock! Check out singer/guitarist Frank Ridsdales shows around town.

      2. 3D Invisibles...Monster DJ...from the Jump Off The Screen LP from the mid 80's. These guys only played London once...at our wedding party back in 19.......

      3. Jim Ashby....Speed City....the best 7" to ever come out of London Ontario!

      4. Bobby Barnett....Drink Canada Dry....from the Country Trash CD that JR Williams recently compiled.

      5. Porter Wagonner....Rubber Room....from Lux and Ivey's Faves Volume 3.

      6. The Black Holes...Super Freak...recorded live at The Brunswick Hotel in beautiful downtown London Ontario. A little different from their usual rockabilly noise, this just shows how demented these guys really are. The Black Holes make a rare live appearance at Call The Office on Sat Dec 17th and guitarist Tom Hilborn will have some of his art on display.

      7. Jack Kittel...Psycho....from Country Trash. I remember hearing this tune on AM radio when i was a kid and it still has the same effect on me to this day! Pure insanity!

      8. 101 Strings...Flame Out....from Lux and Ivey's Faves Volume 16. 101 Strings were a studio conglomerate that pumped out putrid orchestral type covers of popular songs back in the 60's and released them on LP. Usually the LP cover was WAY better than the crap packaged inside. For some reason, parents of us kids would buy this crap. This particular song is the exception to the ruler....just listen to that FUZZ kids! This woulda caused Dad to run over to the hifi to try and figure out what all the fuzz was about!

      9. Osterberg...London Eat's It's Own....from a 10" with Legend Killer Earle Rutherford on vocals. Osterberg are playing with The Black Holes on Sat Dec 17th.

      10. The Hook Up....A Happening For Many...from the soon to be released CD Call Up The Devil. The Hook Up played last weekend at The Spoke right here in London....put on a great show for both fans in attendance!!

      11. The Dustaphonics...Tura Faster Pussycat...from the soon to be releaseed CD Party Girl on Dirty Water Records. Killer UK combo you're gonna be hearing lots more from on this show. Tura Satana contributed some lyrics for one of the songs on this CD and unfortunatly she passed away not long after this recording.

      12. The Honeycombs...Have I The Right...from the Meek And Honey 10".

      13. True Confessions....Passion...from their only LP from 1980 on Bomb Records. Outta Toronto and feature at least one former member of The Curse.

      14. The Diodes...Cat Walker...from the CD re-issue of Action Reaction on Bongobeat Records.

      15. Bishops....Somebody's Gonna Get Their Head Kicked In...from the Live 10"...Recorded in 1978 at The Roundhouse in London UK.

      16. Frankenstein....Sonic Reducer...from the 10" on Hell Yeah Records, this is the 1975 demo that Frankenstein recorded before renaming themselves The Dead Boys....yep, it's the classic lineup from the very first Dead Boys LP.

      17. The Damned...I'm So Bored...from the 10" Lively Arts on Big Beat Records. I hope you weren't bored by this show as we were spinning a lot of 10" records.

      18. The Nomads....I Wanna Come Back From The World Of LSD....from the Raw and Rare 10" on Estrus Records.

      19. The Turn Ups...Question Of Temperature...from the Turn Up LP from 1980 and goes out to The Flying Squad as they covered this song many years ago.

      20. Nomads...ESP...from the Raw and Rare 10" and this is the song i wanted to play above. It's LSD (as written by The Pretty Things) but the lyrics are changed to ESP (Pounds, Shillings, Pence or something like that) that Beaver Patrol recorded in the mid 60's and tried to take the songwriting credits for....Pretty Things recorded it first and The Nomads give the songwriting credits to The Pretty Things as they should!

      21. The Deadly Hearts...Moonwalk...from their debut CD and they are from Halifax.

      22. The Sadies...Lay Down Your Arms...from The Stories Often Told CD from 2002. The Sadies will be at Call The Office here in London Ontario tomorrow, Sat Dec 3rd.

      23. The Sadies...Side Track...from the Rat Fink Soundtrack CD.

      24. The Sadies...Leave Me Alone...from In Concert Volume 1 double CD.

      25. The Sadies...Black Sheep...from the Rat Fink Soundtrack CD.

      26. The Sadies...Lucifer Sam...from In Concert Volume 1 double CD.

      27. The Sadies...The North Star...from the Rat Fink Soundtrack CD. A set of Sadies for ya....Canada's greatest unknown musical combo!!

      28. The Dark Rags...Such A Little Girl...from their self titled CD...from Greece.

That's a wrap and thanx for all of the phone-ins, emails, facebook messages etc. Back again next week with an all female combo show to commemerate the Montreal Massacre of 1989...CHRW dedicates a full day to this on Tuesday Dec 8th.

Here's the archived show in 3 chunks as we started 1 hour earlier than usual.

      1. Dr. Feelgood...Lights Out...from the Sneakin' Suspicion LP from 1977 with Wilko Johnson on guitar. Played this as there's a documentary out on the Feelgoods called Oil City Confidential which is supposed to be really good!

      2. Deadly Hearts...Hand Shake...from their brand new self titled CD...from Halifax and features Myles Deck on the tubs.

      3. Myles Deck and The Fuzz...Halifax Is Burning...from the Beware! The Fuzz LP from 2007.

      4. Weirdonia...Green Tables...Windsor duo whom we're trying to get on Radio WW for a live to air.

      5. The Diodes...City Of The Dead...from their just released Action/Reaction CD on Bongobeat Records. This song was probably written with London Ontario in mind, but don't quote me on that.

      6. The Diodes...Time Damage....recorded live at Call The Office here in London, Ontario 11/18/11.

      7. The Diodes...Child Star...as above.

      8. The Diodes...Tennis Again...as above. Recorded by the WW mobile unit. There's also video of this one on The Diodes Toronto facebook page.

      10. The Sadies...Another Day Again...from their 2010 LP Darker Circles. Ugly Things honcho did the liner notes so you know these guys are cool. And they're coming back to Call The Office here in London Ontario Dec 3rd.

      11. The Sadies...The First Inquisition Part IV...from the 2007 LP New Seasons. Live these guys always toss in some obscure killer cover as their show ender...anything from The Chocolate Watchbands version of Milkcow Blues to The Birds Leaving Here. Jawdroppers that'll blow your mind!

      12. Reigning Sound...Lyin' Girl...from the Abdication For Your Love CD. Remember when leader Greg Cartwright came to Call The Office with The Deadly Snakes a few years back? Didn't think so as there weren't many at that show.

      13. Eddie Marshall...Moblin' Baby Of Mine...from the 1989 Detour Records compilation called Hillbilly Houn'Dawgs and Honky Tonk Angels. Pure trashy hillbilly hick music that inspired combos like The Cramps...anyone that can make winking sound like wanking and get away with it is fine by me!

      14. Ran-Dells...Martian Hop...speaking of The Cramps, this is from Lux and Ivy's Faves Volume 6. Surf doo wop from Mars!

      15. Alex Chilton...Bangkok...from the double LP Decade...or is it Decayed, oh no, that's the Neil Young triple LP. For all of the flood victims in Thailand and it ties into The Cramps theme of the above 2 tunes.

      16. The Sphinxs...Asia Miner...from the split 12" with Miesha and The Spanks.

      17. Legend Killers...Gonna Snap...from the We're Workin' On It CD from 2006.

      22. The Hook Up...65 Has No Blues...recorded live at Brennan's Beer Bistro here in London 11/5/11 when they put on a killer show with The Reply and The Fine Print (who's name i could not remember....brain farts).

      23. The Hook Up...The Man Who Called Up The Devil...from their soon to be released CD of the same name.

      24. The Hook Up...Silver Kiss...from the CD Tomorrow and Today on Ricochet Sound. This song was stuck in my noggin' so i had to play it!

      25. The Hook Up...Minstrel Boy...from the garagepunk hideout CD Noises From The Hideout with artwork by our pal Darren Merinuk.

      26. Rock'n'Roll Monkey and The Robots...Put A Record On...from their Spooky Kooky Attic Static CD.

      27. Party Lights...Before You Came Here...from their only 7"....had to fade this one as we ran outta time once again.

Thanx for all the call-ins, requests, facebook comments and general HEYs!!!

      1. The Diodes....Shape Of Things To Come...from the Time/Damage LP from last year. Recorded live in 1978 and broadcast over the airwaves of CHUM FM. Great way to start the show as there is a scheduled phone interview with The Diodes prior to their show at Call The Office Nov 18th.

      2. The Cyrkle...Red Rubber Ball...from the 1984 Nuggets series on Rhino Records. Original song that The Diodes covered back in 1977.

      3. The Higher State...These Things Take Time...from the Freakout At The Gallery CD on 13 O'Clock Records out of Austin.

      4. The Falcons...Belair...from the CD Atomic Guitar. New arrival at CHRW of a Vancouver based surf combo's CD....i have several of their cassettes from the early 90's that i'll have to dig out.

      5. The Cynics...I Need More...from their latest LP Spinning Wheel Motel on Get Hip Records. This one is half red and half black...so it looks pretty cool spinning at 33.3 on the turntable.

      6. Bush Tetras...Cowboys In Africa...from their Rituals 12" EP from 1981 and for bassist Laura Kennedy who passed away earlier this week.

      7. The Sphinxs...Time Above Me...from a brand new split 12" with Miesha and The Spanks...we had both bands here in London this past summer and they both put on great shows!

      12. Light Bulb Alley...Pepper Spray..from the Sound Of Things CD>

      13. Frankenstein V...It's A Cryin' Shame...from a CHRW CD compilation called Dig Deeper from 1994.

      14. Katrina And The Waves...Walking On Sunshine...from The Original Recordings CD on Bongobeat Records. BongoBeat Records is run by Diodes manager/Canadian music expert Ralph Alfonso and these next 2 tunes are part of our Bongobeat highlight. For those that don't know, Katrina and The Waves first broke out in Canada back in the early 80's and played here in London many times during that era. This is probably their most well known song and it's a good one!

      15. Kimberly Rew...English Road...from his Great Central Revisited CD. Former Soft Boy and Katrina and The Waves, Kimberly knows how to get the pop out of whatever he's playing!

      16. Ralph...Gene Vincent Died In My Arms Last Night...from the Sophisticated Boom Boom CD. Ralph of course is, Ralph Alfonso during his beatnik stage.

      21. The Fine Print....Haunt You No More...recorded live at Brennan's Beer Bistro 11/5/11.

      24. The Brood...Why Girls Cry...from their Estrus CD Vendetta.

      26. Photorman...La Ronde Des Garcon....demo from this Quebec combo and we had to fade it out as the time ran out.

Thanx for all the requests and phone-ins.....The Diodes manager Ralph Alfonso called in just as we went off air to apologize for not being able to do the interview. Sound check at The Horseshoe lasted way longer than anticipated...we've had all of The Diodes onair before, and it'll happen again some day.

And The Diodes are at Call The Office tonight...see ya there!!

      1. Cramps....Weekend On Mars....from The Band That Time Forgot LP from Trash Is Neat. Limited to 250 copies and available to Cramps fanatics only, hence i have a copy. It's all live stuff, but the best of the boots, and this track featured Bryan Gregory from Club 57 in NYC, 8/18/79.

      2. The Cynics...Baby What's Wrong...recorded live at Call The Office, London, Ontario 10/29/11. Best show i've seen The Cynics do since the 1990 tour with The Monomen. The Cynics were absolutely on fire here in London and we were lucky enough to be there to see the fury! Catch these guys live at all costs!

Micheal giving the evil face at Call The Office, London Ontario Canada 10/29/11!!

      3. The Cynics...Rock Club...from the latest LP Spinning Wheel Motel on Get Hip.

      4. Paul Revere and The Raiders...Kicks...from a Greatest Hits LP. Last week we were playing bands that played here in London 30 years ago and Paul and the boys certainly qualify. Remember catching them at the Western Fair (10 day fair held annually here in London) and they were just amazing live! Lots of comedy, stories and those amazing songs that made these guys legends.

      5. Higher State...It's Not Up To You...from the Freakout At The Gallery CD on 13 O'Clock Records. Brand new, just got it in the mail minutes before the show and had to play it! UK combo who have released many records, all with very authentic 60's sounds!

      6. Cordcalling...When I Scream...from their debut CD and they are playing the Brunswick in St Thomas tonight.

      7. Party Lights...Before You Came...from a brand new 7" from this trio of ladies from NYC. Features Anna Anabolic on guitar and vocals.

      8. Photoroman...Faux Depart....from their only 7" and they are from Quebec.

      9. Pack ad...Hear Me Out...from their latest LP Unpersons on Mint Records which is still #1 on the Exclaim chart!! And they are coming back to town Dec 16th with The Standstills at APK club.

      10. Velvet Underground....promo from 1969 that may have aired on the radio once or twice. It's one of the 7" records in the VU singles 1966-1969 Boxset.

      11. The Sphinxs...Time Above Me...from the split CD with Miesha and The Spanks. We had both of these bands (along with Pelt) for a show at The Black Shire Pub back in June...you shoulda been there!

      12. The Pack ad...Cobra Matte...recorded live at Call The Office 10/7/11.

      13. The Fine Print...Haunt You No More...from their cassette from earlier this year. The Fine Print play tomorrow night at Brennan's Beer Bistro.

      14. The Fine Print...Hanging Over Me...from their CD Standing Out.

      15. The Fine Print...Tonight...as above.

      16. The Hook Up...'65 Has No Blues...brand new and from the upcoming CD. First time aired anywhere. The Hook Up play tomorrow night at Brennan's Beer Bistro. And it's also their cassette release party tomorrow as we release our 3rd cassette of this year.

      17. The Hook Up...Minstrel Man...from the Noises From The Hideout compilation from the garagepunk hideout.

      18. The Hook Up...Quinine...another from the soon to be released CD.

      19. The Hook Up...I Am The Letter Writer...from the Tomorrow And Today CD on Ricochet Sound.

      20. Owl Farm...45 Sex...from their brand new CD...Kingston Ontario based combo.

      21. 63 Monroe...Bad Bad Rock'n'Roll....from their latest 7" on red vinyl. A band that was played on our last show as they've been around for 30 years.

      22. Freddy Cannon...Talahassie Lassie...from his Explosive! LP. Freddy played The Western Fair here in London, probably about 30 years ago and he was amazing! Played all of the hits and made me smile! Then Chubby Checker came on and he wasn't very good so we left.

      23. Arthur Alexander...Girl That Radiates That Charm....from his A Shot Of Rhythm and Soul LP on Ace Records that came out in the early 80's. Some of you may recognize this song as one that was covered by Teenage Head, original version came out in 1962. This whole LP is as good or better than the one track we played. Great early 60's soul sounds!

      24. Gene Simmons....Goin' Back To Memphis...from the LP of the same name. 1962 recordings that still sound good and menacing all these years later.

      25. Hipbone Slim and The Knee Tremblers...Square Guitar...from the CD of the same name from Dirty Water Records in the UK.

      26. Light Bulb Alley....Long Time Coming...from The Sound OF Things LP on Ricochet Sound...had to fade this one out as we ran outta time.

Thanx for all of the phone-ins, emails, facebook comments etc!! And thanx for reading this far! Next week, more new stuff and probably some catl, Speaking Tongues and Soup Cans as all 3 bands are in town next weekend.

And don't forget about our big bash on Saturday Nov 5th at Brennan's Beer Bistro....The Hook Up, The Fine Print and The Reply...starts at 9:30PM and only $5 for 3 killer combos!!! Hope to see some of you out there!

This is the final edition of The Fryfogles Years specials...for those that don't know, Fryfogles a club here in London Ontario up until the early 80's. Literally TONS of cool and not so cool bands played there over the years. We concentrated on bands that played there approximately 30 years ago, as this is CHRW's 30th anniversary.

      1. UIC...Crop Dusting...from the Our Garage LP that came out in 1986. UIC were THE BEST band to ever come out of Exeter Ontario!! Fuck the rest, these guys were The Best from Exeter!! They wisely left Exeter and moved to Toronto where they became fixtures on the scene.

      2. UIC...Green Lady...from the Wiseman Sessions....the BEST sessions these guys ever did!! We're still trying to get this one released on vinyl. Fred, are you reading this?!?

Some contact sheets of Ted of UIC in action.....from the archives.

      3. Durango 95...Sandra Sez...from the Lose Control LP on Star Records. Way cool Oshawa combo who merged into The Purple Toads a few years later and played many shows at the Key West here in London Ontario.

      4. Durango 95...Guitar Guitar Guitar...from the Mother's Day LP on Star Records, released in 1990, long after these guys had packed it in.

      5. Flipper...Way Of The World...from the Album LP. Flipper only played once here, and they somehow had members of the opening band up on stage with them for part of their show at Fryfogles.

      6. Forgotten Rebels...This Ain't Hollywood...from the OPM CD. This song title is presently used by the coolest venue this side of Toronto. The Forgotten Rebels played just about everywhere here in London, starting in the summer of 1980 and just played this past summer at Call The Office. That's over 30 years of obnoxiousness!!

      7. Battered Wives...Angry Young Man....from the first LP as drummer Cleave Anderson pointed out to me that they played Fryfogles and members of The Romantics were in the crowd watching them!! And the Battered Wives opened for Elvis Costello at Alumni Hall here in London in the fall of 1978. I'm still kicking my ass for not going to that show! My logic at the time, was that it wasn't punk enough for me! Call me stupid!!

      8. 63 Monroe...Weekend Punx...from the Rumbleskunk compilation CD as there's a feature on their previous namesake, NFG in the fanzine that came with the CD. These guys are from London Ontario and recently released a 7"....but they wanted 12"

      9. Magazine....A Song From Under The Floorboards...from An Alternative Use Of Soap LP. It was a Howard Devoto show at Fryfogles and he did play some Magazine songs i've been told.

      10. Robbie Rox...Reeming Me...from the Construction Site LP. Toronto musician who had a shaved head back in the late 70's before it was trendy and sang in a very high voice, yet he looked like a wrestler! Oxymorons to the max with this guy and most of his jazz tinged tunes dealt with putdowns of people he didn't like, which seemed to be just about everybody! My fave song by him is "I'll Be Fucked" where he almost sounds like Blood Sweat And Tears until you realize he's repeating I'll Be Fucked If I Do!!! Priceless!! I was a big fan and made a drunken fool of myself when he played at Fryfogles, screaming out for songs that he hadn't played in years. Yep, i got the evil stink eye from Robbie that night! And Rena ended up dragging my drunken ass home before the bouncers could escort me out!

      11. Mettle...5/4...from the Domestic Animals cassette of London Ontario bands. And recorded live at Fryfogles 10/23/81. Former Demic Robert Brent goes artrock.

      12. The Hippies....Nuclear Disaster...from their one and only 7"...Many years later, this band, minus singer Kelly Mulvey morphed into The Boy From Nowhere with Jon Traut on vocals.

      13. Dead Rabbits...No Way...local combo who released nothing back in the day, but reformed in 2002 for a Boot To The Head (reference to the Blue Boot, original name of The Cedar Lounge which was the punk mecca back in the day)..recorded at Call The Office.

      14. Dead Rabbits...Your Ego...as above. Should mention regular listener Kerry Piper drummed for this outfit of criminals.

      15. The Diodes...Time Damage...from their first LP from 1978. First punk band in Canada to release a record, first punk band in Canada to be on a major label and first punk band to play here in London Ontario!! And they're coming back to London on Friday Nov 18th at Call The Office...all 4 original members!

      16. The Diodes...Noise...from the Sony Best of CD.

The Diodes at Call The Office June 2010...

      17. The Diodes...Tired Of Waking Up Tired...from their 1978 LP Released.

      18. The Rattlers...Little Black Egg...from the Rattled! CD on Dionysus. These guys opened for 999 6/12/81 at Fryfogles...another show that i missed.

      19. Goddo...Hard Years....from their first LP from 1978. Not sure if Goddo played Fryfogles, but they definitely played at Ye Olde City Hall just up the street back in 1978. They did a 3 night stint there, and me and my buddy Derek (RIP) were right up front for all 3 nights. One night, right in the middle of a song, Greg Godovitz jumped on top of our table while doing a guitar solo and we both had to hold the table to prevent it from tipping over dumping Greg and our beers!! ANd Goddo is coming back to London on Nov 17 to Downtown Kathy Browns.

      20. Rough Trade...It's A Jungle...from their Avoid Freud LP. Rough Trade also played The Spoke here at the University and she made a comment playing in the rec room of the country club at the University. I've got a live tape of that show somewhere and it'll get played on this radio show some day.

      21. The Mods...Step Out Tonite....from the 22 MOnths CD on OPM. They played The Cedar Lounge 2 times and drummer David Steinberg went on to play with Stiv Bators and in a late version of The Dead Boys. He's now a bigwig lawyer in Toronto but still gets behind the kit every once in awhile!

That's a wrap on The Fryfogle Years. It was a lot of fun digging out records for this one and we got some pretty cool comments about it, so we may do specials on other venues from days gone by as we preserve London's musical history here at Radio What Wave.
Thanx to everyone who contributed to CHRW's Fundraising drive during our show....Kerry, Dan, Rena, Ashley and Cory!!! Kudos to you guys!!

Next week we'll be spinning a bunch of new stuff and maybe a coupla things that didn't get played on this show.

The London Record show is this sunday at Centennial Hall here in London....come say HEY at the CHRW table!!

And we've got another big show coming up on Sat Nov 5th...The Hook Up, The Fine Print and The Reply at Brennan's Beer Bistro on Clarence St in Downtown London...9:30PM showtime!!!  Here's the facebook event page:

Playlist Thursday Oct 20/2010....The Fryfogle Years Part 2

It's fundraising time here at CHRW, so feel free to call in at 519-661-3600 to pledge your support. The money is used to purchase much needed new equipment at the station to make this, and every other show on CHRW that much better. Where else are you going to hear music, sports and talk shows like what gets played on CHRW? That's right, so pledge away...

      1. Howlin' WOlf...Do The Do...from the Change My Way LP...Muddy Waters also played at Fryfogles, which was located on the south side of Dundas St in downtown London, approx where the entrance to the public library is presently located.

      2. Martha and The Muffins...Cheesies and Gum...from the Metro Music LP. This whole LP received TONS of airplay on CHRW back in 1980 when it was released.

      3. Joe King Carrasco...Let's Go...from the Party Weekend LP from 1983. Joe played at The Cedar Lounge in about 1979 and for his second appearance in London played at Frys.

      4. Joe King Carrasco...Houston El Mover...from the self titled LP.

      5. The Stranglers...No More Heroes...which sums up the whole punk movement back then. Stranglers played late May early June 1981 at Frys.

      6. Stranglers...5 Minutes...from IV and one of my fave Strangler tunes with it's relentless unforgiving anger!!!

      7. The Stranglers...Peaches...from Rattus Norvegicus LP.

      8. Nach Dem Tode...a live track, dunno the name but we got that one from Bob Glidden who played bass in the band. NDT played at the pre-Stranglers show according to bassist Brian Lambert. Yep, 2 bass players!

      9. Rezillos...Bad Guy Reaction...from the Can't Stand The Rezillos LP from 1978. It was actually The Revillos who played at Frys Sept 1981, a slight re-name, personel change in the band but still the frenzied pop music!

      10. The Rezillos...Top Of The Pops...as above.

11.999...Homicide...from the 1978 LP High Energy Plan. Another great UK combo who played at Frys sometime in 1981...missed this show.

      12. John Cale...Honi Soit...from the LP of the same name. Another summer 1981 show where John brought his band to Frys and put on a Killer show! I took pics that night, some of which are on facebook. This was a really packed and intense show, but as usual i was up near the front trying to absorb it all!

      13. John Cale...Chicken Shit...from the 1979 Animal Justice 12". John made at least 2 more trips to Fryfogles as a solo act.

      14. Zellots...Empty Victories....from You Only Get One Shot At The Big Time from Wizzard in Vinyl from Japan. One of my fave local combos from the era and they opened for John Cale and many others. John was so impressed by the band, he wanted them to open all of his European shows. Unfortunatly the band couldn't get it together financially to get over and do the honours. The full story of The Zellots is in the latest ish of Mongrel Zine, #10 available at Grooves Records here in town. And there's pictures that i took of the band at Fryfogles in the booklet that comes with this CD.

      15. The Zellots...Soldiers...from a 1981 EMAC demo. Rumours are that The Zellots will soon have an LP out on Rave Up Records out of Italy.

      16. Certain General...The Shang....from November's Heat LP. Certain General were an NYC pop/surf/psych/new wave combo that featured local drummer Marcy Saddy. They came to London in Aug 1981 to do some practicing and hanging out and ended up doing several shows at The Cedar, Fryfogles and maybe the Embassy (that could have been in 1984). Check out the Certain General facebook group for a bunch of pictures that i took of them at the Embassy in Jan 1984.

      17. Certain General...Leader Out...from their 1982 EP Holiday Of Love which was a big seller here in London. I distinctly remember singer Parker bringing out a candelabra filled with burning candles to the stage of Frys to open their first set...they had that late 60's psych vibe ala Jim Morrison at times and were quite hypnotic!

      18. Sheep Look Up...Civil Disobedience...from their cassette. Local combo who started as The VD Teens, Raw Dogs, Radio 4 and settled on Sheep Look Up. Some pretty intense stuff when they first started out. And this song is certainly timely for us 99%.

      19. Black Flag...6 Pack....oh ya, the big announcement. Raymond Pettibon, the artist responsible for all of Black Flag's imagery is going to be exhibiting at the Macintosh Gallery here in London in September 2012! He's a huge artist now, exhibiting worldwide! And Jason McLean will also be exhibiting at the same time. And in conjunction with these 2 will be an exhibit at a downtown gallery (not finalized yet) featuring the imagery of London from about 1978 to 1988 including posters, pictures, the zines of the era etc...This is going to be a huge display of all of that epherma and curator Brian Lambert is looking for that kind of material from that era. What Wave will be represented at this show for sure!
And getting back to Black Flag, they played at Frys in about 1982 and then later at the Embassy. At the end of the Frys show, well after the band had stopped playing, bassist Chuck Dukowski somehow slipped getting off the stage, twisted his leg or knee and ended up lying on the dance floor in agony. Dave Napalm and myself both looked at him, each other and walked up to him. Dave and myself kneeled down to ask him if he was OK and Dave got SMACKED in the head by Chuck for his effort!! We both stood up, Dave was holding his jaw and we looked at each other stupidly...like what the fuck!! Needless to say we left him lying there...fucking asshole!!

      20. DOA...Liar For Hire...from the War On 45 LP. We were sitting right near the stage when DOA made their first appearance at Frys (winter 81?? or 82) and these guys came in with their lumberjack coats, hydro parkas and looked like these HUGE rednecks that you wouldn't mess with no matter what! These guys were enormous and scared the shit out of some of us as that's not what we were expecting. You can't tell much about someone's size from pictures on records! This was the era of Joe, Dave Gregg, Dimwit and Wimpy Roy, who i immediatley recognized from The Subhumans. They put on a great show that night...really intense punk'n'roll! I took pictures at their next Frys appearance, some of which are on facebook.

      21. DOA...Royal Police...DOA must have played London a dozen or more times in the last 30 years and they ALWAYS deliver a killer show!!

      22. Napalm Babys....Mental Block...from a live in Ottawa CD. These guys opened for many bands at Frys and were always entertaining!

That's it for part 2, next week is part 3 plus some other bands that played London approx 30 years ago. Thanx for all the phoneins, emails, facebook messages etc!!!

And thanx to Kerry Piper for calling in to pledge $5 for every member of The Dead Rabbits and Flying Squad that appeared on the stage of Fryfogles!!

The London Record show is on Sat Oct 30th....CHRW will have a table there so come on up and say HEY!
And the night before, our pals The Cynics play at Call The Office here in London!

And we've got a big show at Brennan's Beer Bistro on Sat Nov 5th with The Hook Up, The Fine Print and The Reply...it's gonna be a KILLER.

ANd here's the link to the archived show:

      Playlist for Oct 13/2011

This is part 1 of our special on The Fryfogle Years (has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?). Bands that played at Fryfogles Tavern here in London approx 30 years ago to help celebrate CHRW's 30th birthday this month. A TON of cool bands played Fry's (as we used to call it) and this is just a small sampling.

      1. The Ramones...I Just Wanna Have Something To Do...from their Ramones Mania LP on Sire. The Ramones did NOT play Frys, they played at Centennial Hall on May 5/80 with The Demics opening. Probably the last show i attended at Centennial Hall.

      2. Mitch Ryder and The Detroit Wheels...Rock'n'Roll....the single (and shorter) version from the Rhino Greatest Hits LP. OK, so my buddies and i were HUGE Mitch Ryder fans back in the 70's and we just had to venture into Frys to catch this guy. His Rock'n'Roll was a pretty big hit on the AM radios back then (early 70's) and none of us had been to Frys. It was a legendary venue even back then as people like Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters had both played shows here. We got as dressed up as we could (back then venues had dress codes...ie no jeans, no shorts, no running shoes etc and ya, it sounds archaic by today's standards but that's the way it was back then) meaning cords and dress shirts (just have a look at That 70's Show and see how those characters dress) and it was SOOO amazing to see this guy doing his drop kicks and kicking it out like a REAL rock'n'roll show. Not like those boring cover bands we'd see at The Ridout and Ye Olde City Hall. Ya, Mitch was the real deal and i'm just so glad we went to see this guy that even The Cramps held in high esteem as our intro into Frys.

      3. Mitch Ryder and The Detroit Wheels...Sock It To Me...from the LP of the same name.

      4. Eddie And The Hot Rods...Teenage Depression...from the LP of the same name. Eddie and the Hot Rods have the honour of being the first of the so called punk bands from the UK to come to London Ontario on Nov6/7 1977. I had NO idea who this band was at the time and did not go to see them. Yes, i'm still kicking my ass 34 years later, but i do have a live tape of one night's show as consolation.

      5. Eddie and The Hot Rods...Quit This Town...from the 1977 LP Life On The Line. Fitting tribute to the many who have quit this town over the years...

      6. Teenage Head...Picture My Face...recorded live at The Spoke the fall of 1980 and broadcast over CHRW's airwaves and i stayed home and taped it. Still remember seeing Teenage Head when they first played Frys, it was a wed night in the summer, probably 78 or 79 and one of my buddies got booted out for puking his guts out in the downstairs can of Frys. The one club in London that it was REAL easy to get kicked out of...can't say i've ever had the 'honour' but know many that were.

      7. Teenage Head...You're Tearing Me Apart....Frankie we miss you!

      8. The Bopcats...Lose My Cool...from a 7" and this band had Londoner Cam Marshman (son of Judge GG Marshman) on bass. Cam is still playing to this day and did a few songs at the Uranus/Sci-Phonics reunion show (Press CLub here in London) back in May of this year. Bopcats always put on a great show when they had original guitarist Duane Wayne shredding up the strings and grinning so stupidly at his guitar. Then he was replaced and the band was never as good.

      9. The Bopcats...Bop A Lena...from the same 7" as above and this song always made me go nuts when they played it live! Thanks to Kicks magazine for letting me know about the original by Ronnie Self.

      10. The Bopcats...I Can't Help It...another 7' again with Duane Wayne on the strings.

      11. Shakin' Pyramids...Let's Go...from the Skin 'Em Up LP from 1981...yep, Rena and i went on one of our very first dates to see The Shakin' Pyramids at Frys. Just a coupla years back and we're still together to this day. Rockin' Rob who was the rockabilly DJ at the time on CHRW said he got kicked out of this show because he wouldn't stop dancing on stage with the band! Rob's calmed down a bit and he retired earlier this year.

      12. Shakin' Pyramids...Wash Machine Boogie...from the Reeferbilly Blowout CD.

      13. Shakin' Jake and the Rattlesnake Jakes...Ice Cream Man...from the Domestic Animals cassette of local bands. This was Perry Pucket's rockabilly combo who opened for many of these bands at Fryfoges. Perry is currently in the Pink Cadillac Scat Cats.

      14. Panther Burns....She's The One Whos Got It...from the Behind The Magnolia Curtain LP from 1981. Now this is the REAL deal as far as rockabilly goes. This band got played a lot on the show Young Fast and Scientific here on CHRW, that Al Cole did (he's the originator of What Wave zine). After hearing them on the radio, we HAD to see Panther Burns. Their name was getting tossed around with The Cramps in zines like NY Rocker and Trouser Press so this was a must see!! And Panther Burns did not disappoint...stand up bass, simple drum set up, and Tav Falco looking OH SO COOL!!!! And he still does to this day! This LP has just been re-released and it's one of those LP's that you can play over and over and still hear something new each time! Former Boxtop Alex Chilton guested on guitar under the name L. X. Chilton.

      15. Panther Burns...Train Kept A Rollin'...from a live 7".

      16. Panther Burns...Bertha Lou...from the Blow Your Top EP. Legend Killers recorded this song as part of their first or 2nd demo session. We got to interview Tav Falco a couple of times when they used to play the Silver Dollar in Toronto somewhat regularly. He used to send us a Christmas card each year after that...

      17. Carl Perkins...Her Love Rubbed Off...from the Greatest Hits LP. Carl played in the summer of 82, same night The Forgotten Rebels played at The Cedar Lounge. I went to see the Rebels and was talking to lead singer Mike and he gave me shit for going to see his band when Carl Perkins was just up the street! And i'm still kicking myself to this day for missing Carl as he never came back to London.

      18. Carl Perkins...Boppin' The Blues.

      19. Demics...Talk's Cheap...from the Animals Fight Back cassette of local bands and recorded live in 1979. Once saw The Demics play on the same bill as Our Daughter's Wedding, an electro pop combo at Frys. It was a week night and there weren't many people there.

      20. The Demics...Factories...from the NYC CD.

      21. Blue Peter...Factory Living...from the Test Patterns For Living EP on Ready Records from 1979. Blue Peter came from Toronto and started playing pretty regularly at The Cedar and once they started to really draw, went over to Frys. I still remember seeing them sound check at The Cedar on their first visit here, and the band was playing while singer Paul jumped off the stage and started dancing all over the dance floor while the band was playing and then jumped back on stage to sing! The things we remember.

      22. Blue Peter...Neon Girls...from the Radio Silence LP. Mana once grabbed me at Fry's and said you're coming with me to Toronto tomorrow to see Blue Peter open for The Jam. So she drove us to Toronto and we went to The Edge to see The Boyfriends and Blue Peter play and the next night we saw Blue Peter open for The Jam and the Concert Hall! 2 great shows!!

23, Nash The Slash...Moon Curse...from the Dreams and Nightmares LP on Cut Throat Records. Saw Nash at Frys and somewhere i have pictures from that show.

      24. Nash The Slash...Dead Man's Curve...from the 1981 LP Children Of The Night. Nash played London fairly regularly as his brother owned The Madrigal Record shop here in town. Last time we saw Nash, was when he played a few songs with DOA at Call The Office. Randy Rampage was back on bass and Nash jumped on stage in full costume (rolls of white tape covering all visible skin, ancient suit, top hat and dark glasses) and he jumped around like a madman while playing with DOA...shoulda had my camera that night.

That's it for part 1 of The Fryfogle Years. Come on back next week for part 2 where you just might hear The Stranglers, 999, Joe King Carrasco, The Zellots, John Cale, Certain General, DOA and who knows  what else.
And all of this is to help celebrate CHRW's 30th Birthday.
And, next week give us a call (519 661 3600) and you can donate to our annual fund raiser! The money is used to purchase new equipment and to keep CHRW onair. Where else are you going to hear music like this???????? Remember, every little bit helps.

And thanx to The Pack AD for playing London last friday night and then coming onair with me on saturday at 12:30 for an impromptu interview....it was fun and we talked about all of the venues here in London that they've played at! And who knows what else...i had no idea i was doing the interview, but it was fun.

And thanx to Lou Molinaro of Lose Control on indi 101 at Mohawk College for having me onair this past wednesday to talk about CHRW's birthday and all things What Wave. Thanx Lou, it was a blast!

And thanx to Beat Magazine (and especially Robert Pegg) for profiling me in the latest, October edition that is available free here in London Ontario.

This was an abbreviated show, due to election coverage on CHRW starting at 8PM.

      1.  Osterberg....Sickness...from their dark red 10" LP from quite a few years back...actually meant to play London Eats Its Own but had the record down side up.

      2. Joe Shithead...The Enemy...Joe solo at Grooves Records on Oct 5/11 as he was hawking his latest book, DOA, prior to the evening's DOA festivities at Call The Office.

      3. The Mystics...Metamorphosis...from their only CD and this song is a rip-off of The Pretty Things LSD. But who cares, this is a great song no matter what you call it!

      4. Idol Lips...Down By LUV...from the latest garagepunk.com download called Noises From The Hideout and these guys come from Italy.

      5. Light Bulb Alley...Pepper Spray...from their only CD, The Sound Of Things on Ricochet Sound.

      6. Pack AD....Goldrush...from their first LP Tintype. The Pack AD are playing tonite at Call The Office here in London Ontario.

      7. Pack AD...Blackout...from the Funeral Mixtape LP.

      8. Pack AD...K Stomp...from the We Kill Computers LP.

      9. Pack AD...Sirens...from their brand new LP Unpersons which is presently at number 1 on CHRW and number 1 on the National College Charts, Earshot for Canada. Couldn't happen to 2 nicer gals!!

      10. The Cramps...O Ma Liddy...from the brand new Trash Is Neat Volume 5 LP that just happened to arrive via mail as i was leaving to do this show. Limited edition of 250 on dark red vinyl and is ONLY available to members of the Stay Sick group...Cramps hardcore fans!! It's a computer version of Lindsay Hutton's Legion Of The Cramped from the late 70's/early 80's. You'll be hearing lots more of this sucker in shows to come.

      11. catl...Church On Time...recorded live at Call The Office 9/29/11. This was only the 2nd show for drummer Andrew who used to be in The Deadly Snakes. It was a killer show and this live excerpt really doesn't do the band proper justice!

      12. Teenanger...So Agitated...recorded live at Call The Office 9/29/11 and dedicated to a certain DJ at CHRW.

      13. The Routes...Brick Wall...from their LP on Dirty Water Records. UK via Japan garagepunk noise that just blows me away with all of those crazy guitar noises.

      14. Photoroman...Pourquoi..brand new 7" from some crazy Quebecois and again, this one arrived in the mail just as i was leaving to do this show. Oddly, a certain Alistair Light Bulb Alley requested this song before i even had the record!!

      15. Rock'n'Roll Monkey and The Robots...Static...from their latest CD, Spooky Kooky Attic Static that just gets better and better every listen!

      16. The Hook Up...Come Down With Us...from their latest CD, Tomorrow and Today. They are in town on Nov 5th at Brennan's Beer Bistro.

      17. Elected....Alice Cooper...an appropriate way to end the show and to segue into the election coverage on CHRW...

Since CHRW is celebrating 30 years on the airwaves this month, we'll be playing ONLY BANDS THAT PLAYED HERE IN LONDON ONTARIO 30 YEARS AGO for the next 3 shows...there might be some surprises in there, so tune in for some memories for some of us and some brand new music for some of you youngsters.

      1. The Fleshtones....Bigger and Better...from the 2005 CD, Beachhead. The Fleshtones proved this on monday evening at This Ain't Hollywood in Hamiton, Ontario, Canada delivering another jaw dropping performance! Where does Keith Streng get his energy? How can they do so many spins on stage and not get dizzy and fall down? How many pushups can Peter Zaremba do? How low can The Fleshtones get on stage and why did everyone in the crowd get down on the floor when Peter told us to? Are The Fleshtones really Roman Gods? So many unanswered questions and there was only 1 Canadian show this year. You missed it and those that were there will never forget!

      2. The Fleshtones...God Damn It...from the More Than Skin Deep LP 1997 LP. Listen to those lyrics...God Damn It!!!

      3. The Mystics...Play Your Game...from their debut CD. This combo opened for The Fleshtones and they were fucking amazing! Matt from Rocket Reducers is on guitar and vocals.

      4. The Mystics...Last Time...recorded live 9/26/11 at This Ain't Hollywood on the new WW mobile recorder. Yep, it's the Stones tune with an energized psych vibe to it.

      5. The Nomads...She Ain't No Use To Me...from the 10" The Cold Hard Facts Of Life on Lance Rock Records 1996. Sweden's The Nomads cover Cangaragepunk classics from the likes of The Ugly Ducklings, The Northwest Company, The Jury and even Teenage Head! Fucking Swedes have better appreciation for Cangaragepunk than most Canucks!!

      6. The Bon...Hey Suzette...from the latest garagepunk. com download called Noises From The Hideout. Ya, we've played this song a few times on Radio WW...that's cause it's SO good!

      7. The Count V....Psychotic Reaction...from the LP of the same name and a request from a guy who is retiring today! Congrats to Kerry P!!!

      8. Shakey Aches....Junk Island....from their only 7".

      9. The Polymorphines...Anna Lee...from The Slip CD...and these guys are presently on their way back home after a cross Canada tour!

Right around this time, Sarah K from catl called in to talk about catl's big show last night at Call The Office. Brand new drummer Andrew Gunn made his 2nd ever appearance as a member of catl. He was last at Call The Office with Greg Cartwright and The Deadly Snakes 6/19/00. And catl were fucking fantastic last night at Call The Office!!

      10. catl...A Pickup Killed My Ford...from the Adonde Vas? LP

      11. catl...Working Man's Soul...With The Lord For Cowards You Will Find No Place LP. The set closer last night.

      12. catl...Hey Hey...from the Adonde Vas? LP.

      13. Bob Log III....One Man Band Boom....from the Log Bomb LP and Bob comes to Call The Office Sat Oct 1st.

      14. Joe Shithead and Cub... Pencil Neck Geek...from Johnny Hanson Presents Puck Rock Vol 1 CD....Joe and Cub take liberties with Fred Blassie's Pencil Neck Geek. Joe is going acoustic on Wed Oct 5th, 5PM at Grooves Records here in London. He'll be telling stories, playing acoustic and hawking the brand new book on DOA.

      15. DOA...Communication Breakdown...from Hardcore 81 LP. DOA do a real show on Wed Oct 5th at Call The Office...doors at 7PM as this will be an early one.

      16. Teenanger...Rats...from the Give Me Pink LP. Teenanger opened up for catl last night at Call The Office and put on another great show! Thanx for playing Agitated for me!

      17. The Shanks...Coyotes...from their latest CD Skordalia and they will be at The Spoke on the University campus on Friday Oct 14th!

      18. The Vicious Cycles...I Got A Girl...from the latest Garagepunk Hideout download. From Vancouver and NOT to be confused with the hardcore band Vicious Cycle also from Canada. Confused? I was, bought an LP by Vicious Cycle and was quite disappointed.

      19. The Deadly Snakes...Graveyard Shake...from I'm Not Your Soldier Anymore LP from 2001.

      20. Skip Jensen...Done Tried...from the June Garagepunk Hideout download, You Got Your Punk In My Garage. Skip is an active member of the Montreal scene.

      23. The Sporting Bachelors...Lovers But Not Friends...from Mr Garager's Neighbourhood LP on OG Records from 1989.

Thanx for all of the phone-ins, emails, facebook comments and messages AND, all of the bands that keep dedicating songs to me whenever they play live!!! You know who you are!! Next week we'll be doing a set of Pack AD tunes as they hit London on Friday Oct 7th at Call The Office. Rory, our pooch is already excited about this show as The Pack AD are his fave band!!

And we'll be spinning some tunes recorded on the new WW mobile recorder....stuff you WON'T hear anywhere else! Tune in to find out, thursdays from 7 to 8:30PM on CHRW 94.9.

      1. LIght Bulb Alley...Who Do You Love?...from The Sound Of Things CD on Ricochet Sound. A kickass way to start the show as this is easily one of THE best versions of this Bo Diddley tune.

      2. The Polymorphines...The Clean And The Dirty...from The Slip CD. These guys were late arrival guests last week on Radio WW but we made up for it with a speedy interview prior to the live show at The Black Shire Pub that evening. The few who braved the rain (WTF, do Londoners not go out when it rains???) know that The Polymorphines can rock with the best! And BIG thanx to The Oily Birds and Wormwood Scrubs for playing as well.

      3. Teenanger...Red Eye Station...from the Give Me Pink LP. Teenanger will be playing next thursday at Call The Office, along with catl.

      4. Sloan...Give Me That...from their Action Pact CD and Sloan are in London while i'm typing this. Good radio friendly powerpop combo from Toronto.

      5. Sloan...The Good In Everyone...from the One Chord To Another CD. If they were from the UK or US, they'd probably be big stars, but we like to keep our Canadian music to ourselves, unless it's Justin Beaver or Ceylon Dionne which you can have...please.

      6. Bob Logg III...Boob Scotch...from the Log Bomb LP from 2003 and Bob comes to Call The Office on Oct 2nd.

      7. Bradleyboy...Backdoor Man...from the Salt Gun CD. No, this isn't the Howlin' Wolf song, it's an original.

      8. catl...Cards...from the With The Lord For Cowards You Will Find No Place LP. catl are coming to Call The Office next thursday night and catl will be checking in on Radio WW prior to the show. Lots of catl news to report, but you'll have to tune in to get the scoop from the source.

      9. The Fleshtones...The Dreg...from the Roman Gods LP from 1981. Still remember the first time i heard this song 30 years ago and it still rings true! These guys really are Roman Gods and they will prove it at This Ain't Hollywood in Hamilton Ontario on Monday Sept 26th. I'll be the jackass at the front of the stage jumping up and down!

      10. The Fleshtones...The Leather Kings...from The Fleshtones vs Reality LP...played the shit out of this record when it first came out and it still sounds great 24 years later!

      11. The Fleshtones...Bite Of My Soul...from the latest LP, Brooklyn Sound Solution with Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith Group, Nuggets, etc).

      12. The Fleshtones...Girl From Baltimore...from the Up Front 12" EP from 1980. You can never have too much Fleshtones...give this clip a look see as this is The Fleshtones the last time they came to Hamilton last year....jackass at the front jumping up and down!!

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jySWdfiKZQs

Thanx to Aldo Edric for the great video and putting it up on Youtube!! To Be Scene!!

      13. The Hook Up...Minstel Boy...from the brand new Garagepunk Hideout compilation CD, Noises From The Hideout! with cover art by our good pal Darren Merinuk. The Hook Up will return to London Ontario Nov 5th, Brennan's Beer Bistro.

      14. Sunday Sinners...It So Lonely...from the Sweet Jam CD from a couple of years back. Montreal based combo who came to The Black Shire Pub back in the early summer of 2009.

      15. Lene Lovich...Lucky Number...from the Stateless LP from 1979 and a request.

      16. The Zellots...Soldiers...1981 demo and The Zellots story is in the latest edition of Mongrel Zine which you can pick up locally at Grooves Records.

      http://www.mongrelzine.ca/

      17. Phil Ochs...Pretty Smart On My Part...from the Rehearsals For Retirement LP and goes out to John K who gave me a stack of his old records, of which this was one. Great sarcasm/satire on this tune.

      18. Lords Of London...Time Waits For No One...7" on Apex and as above. No connection with London Ontario as The Lords were from Toronto.

      19. The Paupers...Magic People...from the LP of the same name and Skip Prokop drummed on this one prior to his fame in Canadian classic rockers Lighthouse. And now Skip resides in London Ontario, or at least that's the rumour.

      20. Scott Drake...Your Secret Face...from the latest Garagepunk Hideout, Noises From The Hideout CD. Scott's voice may sound familiar as he was in The Humpers for many years.

      21. 63 Monroe....Bad Bad Rock'n'Roll...7" from London Ontario veterans.

      22. The Regulators...That's Right, Nothing's Left...7" from 1979 from London Ontario.

      23. The Boojies...Maddy...from the August Garagepunk Hideout Download called Hidden Tracks. Toronto combo, some of which are in a brand new band who will be joining The Hook Up and The Fine Print on Nov 5th at Brennan's Beer Bistro.

      24. Wormwood Scrubs....Too Late To Go Home...from their self titled CD and from Guelph Ontario. They played with The Polymorphines last week in London and were quite good!

      25. Midnite Snaxxx...A Guy Like That....brand new 7" on Total Punk Records.

That's it, thanks for all the call-ins, and all those people asking weird questions. Had several weird calls, that i had no clue about. And thanx for all the email, facebook, garagepunk hideout requests!

Next week we've got an interview with catl scheduled...prior to their show at Call The Office that evening.

And finally, here's the link to listen to the show...one week only and then it's gone for good:

      1. John Schooley....Drive You Faster...from the Voodoo Rhythm LP John Schooley and His One Man Band. A real stomper to get the show started as i was yammering with BradleyBoy at his well attended (ya, right, let's be fucking honest, i was the only one there to see this guy play live last friday night) gig about Voodoo Rhythm Records and how Fucking great this label is. Best record label in Switzerland, probably all of Europe! Maybe the world. Likely the universe! But all who attended the John Schooley show at The Victoria Tavern 2 years back already know that.

      2. The Standstills...Blues Radio from their Human Element CD and they will be at The Spoke on the campus of the University Of Western Ontario today at 11PM.

      3. catl....Working Man's Soul....from their With The Lord For Cowards You Will Find No Place LP from last year. catl will be in town Thursday Sept 29th at Call The Office. Catl promises he'll phone in during that week's edition of Radio WW to yammer about their brand new drummer. Yep, Johnny Larue has left catl and been replaced by a Deadly Snake. Not literally, but the drummer from In The Red Recording artists The Deadly Snakes.

      4. Bradleyboy...Callin' Your Name...from his Salt Gun CD. One man band who has been on many labels, including Transistor 66 and now EMI. He was here last friday at The Brass...you shoulda been there too!

      5. Boy From Nowhere...Heart Full Of Soul...from Thee Cave Comes Alive LP on Action Records. Singer Jon Traut is presently in The Oily Birds who were playing with The Polymorphines that evening.

      6. Sloan...Underwhelmed...from the Smeared CD from 1992. Sloan are playing at The London Music Hall next friday.

      7. The Bon...Hey Suzette...from their Static Electricity CD on Boppa Do Down Records.

      8. Midnite Snaxxx...Jackie...from their 7" on Total Punk Records. Finally got this one in the mail and the jury is still out on whether it was worth the long wait. Ya, it's really good, but it's not as good as some of the former bands these young ladies have been in. Tina Luchessi was in the Godlike Trashwomen, Bobbyteens and Tina and The Total Babes; Dulcinea was in The Loudmouths and i dunno what band Renee came from and i'm too lazy to go looking. Ok, maybe i've gotta spin it a couple more times as it does have that early girl group meets 77 punk rock sound...we'll let the jury decide...what did you think of this one?

      9. The Beat Killers...Church Of Rock'n'Roll...from the latest garagepunk hideout download called Hidden Tracks.  A genuine asskicker from start to finish. Speedy John plays bass in this combo from LA.

      10. The Hook Up...Bad Summer...from their Tomorrow and Today CD. Ya, i keep playing this song as it's sooo good! The Hook Up come back to London on Nov 5th, Brennan's Beer Bistro.

      11. Teenanger...Carole Pope...from the Give Me Pink LP and they open for catl on Sept 29th at Call The Office.

      12. B5 Blue...Borderline....recorded live somewhere in London. Coupla these guys are in The Oily Birds who played with The Polymorphines at The Black Shire last night.

      13. Stupidity...Move...from the Move CD and they are from Sweden.

      14. Lord High Fixers...18...from the Is Your Club A Secret Weapon LP on Estrus Records from 1999. Features Tim Kerr on guitar, as i was planning on doing a whole Tim Kerr set as The Polymorphines had Tim produce their latest recordings at Sweatbox Studios down in Austin. Like most bands, The Polymorphines arrived way late and we had to do a quick end of show interview. Luckily, Jeremy Polymorphine and i both talk really fast, so we did a 1 hour interview in 20m flat! Enthusiasm and a love of rock'n'roll will conquer all!

      15. The Polymorphines...Anna Lee...from their latest CD, The Slip.

      16. The Polymorphines...Constant Reminder...from their Transistor Sister CD...they didn't play this one live last night at the Black Shire...i shoulda yelled out for it, as this is such a great song!!

      17. The Polymorphines...Poor Sicko...from The Slip CD.

      18. The Polymorphines...Dirty Cop...from their Transistor Sister CD.

      19. The Polymorphines...The Clean and The Dirty...from The Slip CD.

      20. Invasions...Jewel...from their lateset 7".

      21. Teenage Head...Brand New Cadillac...from a live show at The Spoke from the fall of 1980.

Somewhere around here, The Polymorphines arrived...lost on the vast campus of The University Of Western Ontario. Not the first, certainly not the last to get lost here...but i've been told it was a great, yet speedy interview...Maybe next time we'll get to do the acoustic set that we were hoping to do.

      22. The Polymorphines...Let Love Fly...from the Transistor Sistor CD.

Big thanx to The Polymorphines for taking the time to come on air prior to their big show at The Black Shire Pub. And it was a great show that evening as some of you know.

And thanx for all of the crazies that called in with requests! Back next week with more noise.

      Playlist Sept 8/2011

On this week's show, we had Jeff Mittelholtz of The Stuntdoubles and CEO of Splattered Frog Records as a special guest. Splattered Frog Records are celebrating their 25th year with a big bash at Brennan's Beer Bistro on Sat Sept 10th with a ton of bands including The Stuntdoubles, Giggleswitch, Carnies and literally tons more. Jeff was also in the legendary Positively Stompin...', a cool combo that was way ahead of it's time, playing country influenced rock when people couldn't give a shit. Timing is everything. But shit is always on time, or whatever the fuck that's supposed to mean. Enough yammering...

      1. Dave Edmunds...Back To School Days...from the Get It LP from 1977. Local combo Uranus did their thesis on this LP and made a career out of it. This goes out to everyone going back to school.

      2. The Carnies....Lo and Behold...local combo who mixed horns and rock'n'roll and are reuniting on Sat night.

      3. Boozehounds...She Says....another local combo reuniting on saturday night.

      4. The Stunt Doubles...Dough Head...another local combo who are playing Sat night, but are not reuniting cause they still play around town.

      5. Giggleswitch...How Good You Look...from their VII CD and they are reuniting this saturday night. Sounds like a broken record, but all of these bands will be at the big Splattered Frog Records show on Saturday night at Brennan's Beer Bistro.

      6. Positively Stompin'...Nashville Dreamin'...from their Junk Drawer CD from 1993. Nope, no reunion on Saturday night. Astute listeners will remember UIC did this song back in the 80's and even more astute listeners/trivia freaks will know that some of Positively Stompin' were in UIC...Ted and Murray.

      7. 63 Monroe...Bad Bad Rawk'n'Roll...from their brand new 7" and they will be playing at Call The Office on Saturday night, which just happens to be next door to Brennan's Beer Bistro.

      8. Bradleyboy...2:15...from his The Farm CD. One man blues band who will be playing tonight (friday Sept 9) at The Brass in London Ontario.

      9. Bradleyboy...If You Left Me...from the Rock/Wood CD.

      10. Dead Beat....Whet Beat....from the Warning CD. Hamilton surf combo.

      11. MC5...High School...from the Back In The USA LP from 1970 and goes out to those lucky kids going back to highschool.

      12. Electric Prunes...Too Much To Dream Last Night...a request and a really cool one. Saw these guys at Wooly Weekend in Montreal in 2009 and they are REALLY FUCKING LOUD!! 16. Iggy Pop....Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell....recorded live at Kiplings, London Ontario 8/14/88 and the last time Iggy played here.

Big shout out to Cory Shipp......A Lucky Guy!!! This guy won our Dave Rave CD pack for answering a skill testing question AND.....he got to hang out with Iggy while he was at Pizza Pizza in Toronto at the show this past weekend!!

      18. Agnelli and Rave...Company Man....from the above CD.

      28. Presence...Concrete/Metal....from a 7" from 1981. Alberta combo who played at The Embassy back in Sept 1981. On the Cedar Lounge Facebook page, someone thought a member of this band was in a picture in question. We still don't know the answer, hence i played this song to stir up the pot.

      29. Presence...Move On Stranger....recorded live from the Embassy Sept 1981 by CHRW DJ Simon Less (now a big time producer of the name Peter Moore). He would use a styrofoam head with mics shoved in the ears to record bands.

      34. The Seatbelts....Callin' Out...from the brand new Joy Ride CD. Seatbelts were a late 70's Detroit combo who did a bit of recording back then, but this is all newly recorded. 35. 3D Invisibles....Love On Mars...from a 1982 7" from this Detroit combo who just happen to have 2 members that were/are in Seatbelts. And this combo played a wedding celebration right here in London on June 15th 1985 to an invite only crowd. St Stephans Hall (now demolished) in old Wortley Village....i think it was a lot of fun!!
