Thanks, Crazy -

A lot of time went into that bike.  I rebuilt it from the frame up and even ended up painting it myself (first time with a spray gun).  it is a blast to ride!

Thanks for the compliments. I love these old Triumphs. Someday I'll build up the basket case 55 and 51 Thunderbirds I've got. $$ is super short these days, though. I've also got a pair of Honda CL400's, a 77 and a 74 to chop up for my wife. I've got lots of ideas and too little money right now. I know, the sad song is way too common these days. As you can see I too enjoy to ride them rather than shine them up all pretty. I really appreciate a machine that gets regular use, ridden as the maker intended. I also enjoy the reliability good workmanship and attention to detail offer. That's mostly on the inside, though. I tend to like my bikes a bit road tarred and oily, rather than a garage queen only out to make the scene. Usually if I find a moment to clean them up, that moment quickly turns into a ride around town or up the coast for a pint. 6T Sinner said:

With that in mind, I realize that after 1500 miles on mine since I rebuilt it last winter it now spontaneously leaks oil, just not between the case halves! I seep out my front motor studs now.A simple re-torque of the studs and some refinishing of the stud washers hopefully will return me to spotless running. Cross your fingers for me!

Nope. In fact my buddy's Yamaha XS 650 leaks more oil than my Triumph does. There's just too many British bikes out there that are worked on by those who don't know what they're doing. Me included sometimes! power chord hack said:

Mmmh, nice boiks out here. The beemers are nice - but still they do have the smell of a "Gummikuh" (Rubbercow) Chop 'em harder. ;) I do like the Hon-daah and the XSs as well... nice bikes, even the fishtail Guzzi has its style. Well, for me - and now to something complete different: I learned to ride on a Yam SR500 (see my blog), doing somekind of customjob with my KTM LC4 (no more crosscountry rallye rides) and have a Buell XB12R for the need of a ride. Looked around for a Norton for a year, but became aware that in Switzerland you can't aford 'em. So why not merging new tech into old appearance? At the moment I'm trying this with my KaffKrosser. Pics? Sure ;) First the ugly modern thing with lotsa torque - one for the modern caferacer:
