Am I the only one who thought this was too artsy-fartsy and abstract?  Whne it comes to Warren Oates I gotta go for Race with the Devil.  THAT was a great flick!

Warren Oates is the greatest actor ever -- we watched Two Lane Blacktop and Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia consecutively with a day inbetween - neither myself or my wife, who can spot any Z grade actors walkon part, figured out it was Oates in both films. Either I was drunk or the man is a genius. I'm voting genius.

Good piece over at the Examiner. I recently picked up the fancy pants Criterion edition of Two-Lane Blacktop to replace our long gone VHS copy. While not as essential as Vanishing Point or Two-Lane Blacktop, Dirty Mary Crazy Larry is a good car flick, too.

I love "Two-Lane Blacktop", one of my favorites too.
Warren Oates is wonderful as usual, the non-professional actors are great and Monte Hellman is one of my favorites director. By the way, I'd highly recommend to watch "The Shooting" and "Ride the whirlwind" where he treats the western movies quite the same way he treats here the race movies.
And if you love low budget sci-fi movies (and I know do), I guess you'd probably already watched the cool "Beast from the Haunted Cave", his first movie, produced by Roger Corman.
