Julien Temple is in production on "Oil City Confidential", a documentary on the amazing kings of 70's pub rock, Dr. Feelgood. Unfortunately Lee Brilleaux is no longer with us, but there should be enough footage of the band to enjoy. I'm looking forward to this one.

Scratch that. it's been resecheduled AGAIN for the 8th instead. What a network.

 I have'nt seen it ( It would seem , living in the US , where The Feelgoods are only virtually unknown , as opposed to completely unknown , there's not a lot of call for it....) , but , I saw the trailer where they spoke of Wilko taking over the small plane they were flying to France in.....Even though he had never flown a plane in his life. The plane went off it's course in a hurry , imagine that...But they all , somehow , stayed out of harm's way until the Pilot GAINED CONTROL OF THE PLANE , once more.   It's cool that the guy in Iron Maiden actually flies the band to their own gigs , but , Wilko Johnson tried to fly the plane himself , and he did'nt even havea license , nor did he have a clue about basic flight maneuvering.... But , that's Rock'n'Roll, that's how we roll.

Awww and I was hoping for the 1st Dr Feelgood (& the Interns)...  which would in my opinion make a better movie?

At the present time there's a Region 2 (UK and Europe) release but no US release yet. Hopefully it'll pop up on The Documentary Channel again.

It's something that's been on my list of must see since reading the above review.

You don't happen to know if there's a DVD release of this?

I happened to catch about 2/3's of the movie on The Documentary Channel. It's quite a band bio, going into details about Wilco Johnson's hippie background, morphing into being a highly unorthodox schoolteacher, following through with the Dr. Feelgood being the first unsigned band to make the cover of the NME.

There's a quite a bit about Wilco's meth problems and the consequences of said addiction on the rest of the band, creating a chasm in particular between him and Lee Brilleaux. This film is essential viewing.

Can't go wrong with Julien Temple on the steering wheel ;)

Definitely cool, one of those great 70's bands that tends to get forgotten in the aftermath of the punk melee.
