Tune your radios to 88.5 FM CJSR Edmonton or tune in on the web at www.cjsr.com for a tribute to the late frontman for the Cramps, Lux Interior – whose “Purple Knif” radio broadcast was the inspiration (read:COMPLETELY RIPPED OFF) for Flying Saucer Rock & Roll and Dan Electreau. I'll be playing lotsa Cramps and a bunch of stuff from the Born Bad series. This will also be the LAST transmission of Flying Saucer Rock 'n' Roll radio so don't miss your final opportunity to tune in. Squares beware. Jeff Papineau on behalf of Dan Electreau

They had me at bikini Girls with Machine Guns, but I admit,I always took em for granted(I have too many bands to obsess over) and the loss totally got me down. Hope Ivy and em are all right.

Damn...Saw the Cramps in 78 and they blew me away. In 1980 he invited The Cudas to support The Cramps in London and Lux was a most gracious host, really went out of his way to make us feel welcome. The Feelies were on the same bill and their management tried to muscle them in to play after us in the prime support, but Lux put his foot down and ensured the order of the bill was respected. He was a real Rock 'N' Roll fan, shaker and mover and a real gentleman to boot.

      Damn, this really sucks.
I saw them twice in the middle '80s in Italy, they were the wildest act I've ever saw in my life. The day after I bought Psychedelic Jungle in my favourite record shop... I went to one of their show a couple of years ago, they still nailed it!
I've been sad the whole day yesterday when I had the news.
      You'll be missed, Lux.

      ...
Like most of us here I suppose, The Cramps were the beginning of it all for me : real cool music, cool movies, cool trash culture and, most of all : a real cool WAY OF LIFE.
Life was suddenly much more fun with The Cramps and all the doors they'd opened...
Aaaaarrgghhh....feels like I've lost someone from own family...my SOUL FATHER or something like that...
All my thoughts go to Ivy ...

      Lux RIP.

To adapt a lyric from my old drunk friend, beat cowboy poet Kell Robertson, "Come on in, Lux, it's cool and dark inside."

He was a great one. All of us in here owe him a lot. Peace be upon you, Mr. Interior. And peace to all my friends in the Hideout.

His physical body can die, but the true essence of what Lux IS cannot die or be destroyed. Ditto for all the great men we have lost so recently.

I will never forget the first time I saw Lux and the Cramps - they opened my eyes to what could be in music. RIP Lux.

I was wishing this was untrue.
      but alas, Lux is gone.

One of my top favorite performers of all time.

I only got a chance to see them once...
      but it blew my mind...

      Love you Lux.

Thank you, Kopper... It's now corrected and uploaded... (if it hasn't changed: clear cache/history in browser) kopper said:
Great poster, but he was born in 1946, though (according to Wikipedia and the Cramps' website).

Shit, crap, damn, bloody hell, what the fuck.
      Just heard the news here.
Nearly all the Ramones are gone and now good old freaky Lux.
I feel a bit down now as everyone can imagine.
Say hello to Elvis from us Lux.

I think one of the best compliments I ever heard paid to Lux (& Ivy) was from Andre Williams at the Viper Room in LA about 10 years ago. Acknowledging Lux & Ivy from the stage he said "We may not be the same color, but we all came from the same pussy".

The Cramps were without a doubt, the biggest musical influence in my life...i hate to think where i'd be today without the music of The Cramps. They influenced my record collection, my musical direction, even my clothing selection back in the day. In fact, we even named our youngest daughter after Ivy... This friday, at 5PM EST, i'm gonna play an hour's worth of The Cramps music on CHRW 94.9 FM in London Ontario as my little tribute to my hero, Lux Interior! You can listen live on the web at: http://chrwradio.com/listen/ The show will be archived for 1 week at: http://chrwradio.com/listen/ There's a facebook event set up at: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/event.php?eid=75399253272&ref=mf Hey Man!......Fourth floor!!!.......Caveman.......Last Door!!!!! http://chrwradio.com/
