Sadly, Estelle of the Ronettes passed away few days ago. She was sister to Veronica (Ronnie Spector).

The Jaynetts are pretty damn cool "Sally go round the Roses", although they tend to do alot of versions of the same tune with different lyrics, cause it was a big hit for em... Like their christmas song "Snowman, Snowman, Sweet potato nose"... I also dig the bobbettes "I Shot Mr.Lee"... (1957 tho) Rosie and the Originals "Angel Baby"... Which Roky Erickson covered on "Don't knock the rok"...

For main stream stuff, there are a lot of good girl groups comps that you can normally find digging through the buck bins. They usually chock full of groups like the Shangri-Las, Shirrelles, Ronettes, Crystals and Angels.... All of whom are in the same vein, but the Shirrelles and the Ronettes are my personal favorite. A lot of the motown stuff is pretty great too... The Supremes (Before Diana Ross became the vocal point), Marvelletes and Martha and The VAndellas are can't miss records.
good suggestions. One comp in particular you might be interested in if you have the $ or you're on a file sharing site: One Kiss... Also, the Girls in The Garage series is worth checking out. Both sides of the Pleasure Seekers available 45 are on Norton's "Hideout" comp of Michigan bands and the 7" has also been reissued. Anyone ever heard anything about their "Light Of Love" / "Shame" (Mercury) 1967 single? Man, i'd love to hear that!
