You can't have good rock'n'roll without an ice cold frosty far away.

So tell me fellow garagepunkers, whats your favourite local beer. Don't tell me Asahi unless you live in Tokyo, Steinlager is out unless you are a two headed Kiwi sheep shagger and all you Italians get to keep your Peroni's.

To get the ball rolling, my two favourite Aussie brews are both from the state of Tasmania and are from the Boag's brewery - Boag's Strong Arm, once made at a lovely 5.7% alcohol, now just a mild 5%, but still a tasty, malty king of a beer.
If I'm feeling a tad more classy a Casacade Premium lager will wet the old laughing gear. A crisp, dry honeyish drop that Mrs Yates and I will happily drink until the fridge is empty.

My hobby this winter was sampling various porters. The hands down winner was the Long Trail Imperial Porter. Too bad it's a seasonal brew. It started this whole process because I had to come up with a suitable substitute. Coming in second was the Rock Art Double Porter Smoked. Good enough to get me through to next winter. Both of these are from Vermont breweries.

Pumphouse Blueberry Ale is a great little micro brew out of New Brunswick, Canada, and I'll always love my Moosehead Lager; the best beer comes in green bottles! I know we're supposed to stay local, but I really must give credit to the Belgians as well; after spending some time in Bruges this past summer, I agree that they really do brew some of the greatest beer in the world. Tasty, tasty!!

OK dog fondlers, the state of Tasmania has leaned too far to the right (politically speaking) so my heart has to swing to that great South Australia beverage Coopers Pale Ale.
In fact any beer from the Coopers Brewery will rate an instant 9.5 out of 10. I even drank one out of a can when I was at the Golden Plains festival, I think it was called Dr Tim and it rocked.

Ahhhh...the wonderful, glorious beer topic! I love North Coast Brewery "Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout"...such a tasty hearty stout...my goodness!! It's a great winter beer! They also have a really good red ale, "Red Seal Ale"...so clean it knocks your socks off!!
Fortunately in Cali, we have many microbreweries scattered about. I try to hit up as many as possible when traveling through areas that have 'em. I mean really...need I say more-lol!
As for my shwag beer of choice...PBR or Naughty Ice ;D

I am a huge huge fan of Schneider Aventinus. it's 8.2% and a good size. I am a fan of Belgian beers in general. This winter I was getting into some stouts, such as Young's chocolate. So fucking tasty. Did really enjoy the new combo coming from Brooklyn Brewery called Brooklyn-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse. Give me a tasty high alcohol beer, and I am a happy woman!

PRIMO - No Kai Oi, brah! That's our number one choice, so stoked that they brought it back. Second is Steinlager. Sheep are people too...at least in our neck of the woods.

HOEGAARDEN from Belgium ... "It all started in Hoegaarden around 1445 with monks who divided their time between prayers, devotion, and the manufacture of wine and beer." ... guess the praying fell kinda short pretty quick, hahaha.

... for local beer's from Switzerland it is "Vollmond-Bier", which only gets brewed on fullmoon nights. sounds terribly esoteric, but tastes great and comes from an old brewery called "Apenzeller Bier" ...
