Is "budget rock" still a thing? Not exactly talking about the annual Budget Rock Fest that still(?) happens every year in SF... I mean the GENRE. Are there any current budget rock bands, scenes, or labels anywhere? I'm talkin' about bands like the Mummies, Supercharger, the Rip Offs, Teengenerate, the Trashwomen, Phantom Surfers, the Statics, etc. It seems like this fun, lo-fi, noisy, trashy, and inept subgenre of garage that was pretty big for a while in the early-to-mid '90s has completely dried up and blown away... ever since Jesse Lortz's label BOOM BOOM RECORDS OF RENTON disappeared offa the map.

So are there any bands like this still around? Labels? 'zines? ANYTHING besides that festival? If so, name 'em. Post videos. Feed me BUDGET ROCK. It's what I crave.

Nothing comes to my mind as current. Fe Fi Fo Fums seems to be the last sort of modern band of that genre I can think of. I do miss it!
