      HoZac Records BLACKOUT FEST ~ Chicago ~ May 15-17

      It's the 10th year for the annual HoZac Records festival of light and we couldn't be more excited to bring two more legends of punk to the stage atThe Empty Bottle, along with another bludgeoning crop of today's best so be sure to clear your schedules for May 15th-16th!

      We're also kicking off the art show earlier than usual so it will take place on SUNDAY May 10th and run until the Sunday after the festivities.

      FRIDAY May 15th:
      The Real Kids: Legendary 70s Boston Punk/Power Pop band featuring John Felice from the original lineup of the Modern Lovers

      COZY: Minneapolis by way of UK Glam pop sensations (who normally only play stadiums, lucky YOU)

      Platinum Boys: Milwaukee's newest hard rock pop fuckheads are ready to make a bong out of your skull.

      MAMA: Chicago's ballistic bare-knuckle pop punishers

      SATURDAY May 16th:
      The Avengers: Legendary 70s San Francisco Punk band andDANGERHOUSE RECORDS alumni

      Sweet Knives: Memphis supergroup featuring Alicja Trout & Rich Crook performing the Lost Sounds material with original members

      Nervosas: Columbus, OH dark-wave delinquents

      THING: members of The REATARDS and Cheap Time!

      Gross Pointe: Chicago's steam-rolling punk lacerators, in the tradition of The Brides, Devil Dogs and Real Kids.

      THEY'VE GONE FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH ON THIS ONE. IN THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS , I'VE SEEN ROKY ERICKSON , THE DICTATORS , AND THE BOYS. THIS MAY BE ONE OF TEH ONLY SHOWS , OUTSIDE OF THE EAST COAST , THAT THE REAL KIDS ARE DOING FOR A WHILE , BUT , WHO KNOWS ?

      All those of you visiting Chicago for The Weekend , The Empty Bottle is close to the legendary Margie's CANDIES , POSSIBLY THE COOLEST ICE CREAM PARLOR IN AMERICA.

      When asked about his experience , playing Lollapalooza , Roky Erickson told Goldmine , "We went to Margie's. It's an ice cream place. The Beatles ate there , y'know.''.
