I found a record called 'Real Cool Time' which is a comp of great Swedish garage punk bands some of which sounds like the music the kid is playing on his cassette playing in 'Let the Right One In'

i know they were already mentioned, but everything the Heartattacks put out rules. By far one of my favourite Garage Punk bands of the 00's.
Did anyone say Puffball? The Rockets?
Ha!
How about Henry Fiat's Open Sore they kick ass.
here are my first lovely results of my research:
Mind Traps
Black Bug (Synth-Garage)
Deliverance Brothers
Ho Chi Minh Howlers
Wet Bags
Bäddat För Trubbel
Moralens Väktare
... and now I'm looking for some Sweden-Surf! Feel free to add something.
Skurkarna are a great instro band from Gothenberg. They have a track on one of the Hideout comps. Check out their hilarious profile here on the Hideout: http://garagepunk.ning.com/profile/SKURKARNA
Let's keep this topic about Sweden, guys. Not Norway, Finland, Denmark, etc. Thanks!

Also, the Kissettes's back band is the Nomads. "The Kissettes A' Go-Go" is a pretty good single. (but it's pricey now!!!)
And Robert Johnson And Punchdrunks is(was) a rockin' inst band. They have some good tunes!

You're right. The Nomads did a single , included in Next Big Thing Magazine , in the Late 80's , as The Screaming Dizbusters. Of course , they covered "Next Big Thing" . "Yeh , I knocked 'em dead in Dallas. They did'nt know we were Swedes.".

whatwave dave said:Here's a few more......The Creeps (1st 2 LP's only), Union Carbide Productions, Backdoor Men, Wilmer X, Shoutless, Wayward Souls, Bottle Ups, Cornflake Zoo, Livingstones, HighSpeed V, Screaming Dizbusters...and there's lots more.
Wow, I totally forgot about the Manikins. Agreed. Great band!

The Manikins, 1st album is really good. later stuff is pretty much the same as the hives
Thee Gravemen - good trashy two-man band.
Can't talk Swedish garage without mentioning The Hellacopters and The Hives.
Hey, that's well cool! I'll give it a good listen in a while.

Always good to hear Dungen... heard them on BBC Radio 6 today - 'Gjort Bort Sig', on Stuart Maconie's Freakzone and then later (not so freaky though!) Life On Earth! 'Summer Lover' on the Lauren Laverne Show. On the subject of Swedish psych, there's a good article / interview with The Nomads in the latest issue of Vive Le Rock! magazine, and whilst I'm at it, I'll get some gratuitous self-plugging in, check out the 'Everythang's Groovy Baby!' grebo article - also in the same issue!

It's a Guardian interview with the singer of the Hives.
I picked up something by The Texas Motherfuckers. Sounded pretty OK, and it was cute as it had a little note explaining that they had been playing all over Sweden and Denmark at the time of putting the CD out.
The Tundra Fucks !!!

One band I played on my most recent episode of "40 Oz. Nonsense" are the Gravel Guts. Over on their Bandcamp page, they've got 3 albums available for download, and all free. Here's the link: http://gravelguts.bandcamp.com/
The Hives, Dee Rangers, Backyard Babies, The Stomachmouths, The Nomads, The Locomotions, The Strollers, The Maharajas, The Satans, The Hellacopters, Sons of Cyrus, The Sewergrooves, Henry Fïats Open Sore, The Wylde Mammoths, Crimson Shadows, The Maggots, The Blacks (Savage Records), The Heartattacks... that's all I can think of right now! As you can see, there are tons of great bands from Sweden. Good luck!
