    • Oh, i didn´t know she died! Shot down by cancer, terrible!
I think she was a beautiful lioness, and liked a lot her intriguing eyes with a slight squint.

beside from the classical i still remember how i got impressed with Trilogy of Terror as a kid!.
      rest in peace, Karen.

      Karen Black

    • THAT! is very weird, I just watched Trilogy of Terror last Saturday (Aug 3) and was intrigued by her, so I watched a ton of other Karen Black movies the rest of last week.  I got into a Karen Black kick actually. What a strange coincidence?!

    • OK , maybe you all knew this , but , I had'nt heard much about it , myself.

Karen Black , who starred or co - starred in everything from Cult Classics , "Five Easy Pieces" and "Easy Rider" , Mainstream hits like"The Great Gatsby",and Hitchcock's swansong , "Family Plot" to 70's Horror like the reviled "Burnt Offerings" and the celebrated "Trilogy of Terror" , not to mention countless , largely forgotten , B-pictures , passed away after a brutal bout with Cancer , for which her Husband tried to raise funds online to cover her medical expenses.  Black never became the big star her fans thought she should have been , but her detractors were rarely satisfied , either. Unconventionally pretty , perhaps she was'nt regarded as the Hollywood ideal of a modern sex symbol (An extremely silly notion). A band was even named after her , The Voluptous Horror of Karen Black , best known for full frontal nudity on stage (And,, um , no, I never saw them.).

    • VERY SAD . IT'S THE END OF AN ERA , THOUGH KITTEN'S STILL WITH US. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE MET RUSS MEYER AND TURA SATANA , AND THEY REALLY WERE LARGER THAN LIFE PERSONALITIES. HAJI SEEMED TO BE MORE LOW KEY , THOUGH CERTAINLY NOT BECAUSE SHE HAD'NT RETAINED HER EXOTIC BEAUTY. SHE HAD.  SHE WAS ALSO A GREAT SUPPORTER OF  RIGHTS FOR DOGS , DOMESTICATED AND IN SEARCH OF HOMES. AND , LIKE PAM GRIER , HER APPEARANCE IN "BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS "WAS CRIMINALLY BRIEF. STILL , IT TURNS OUT , SHE APPEARED IN MORE OF MEYER'S FILMS THAN ANY OF HIS CELEBRATED STARLETS.

    • GO Here:

Guitar Wolf's SPACESHIP GUITAR ---> whenever it lands in your orbit, the vending machine at dock #W-ZERO should have some, right next to the JET BEER dump. *Manufactured on the planet of the Wolves, by Gakulan laserEYE Co. Heat resistant up to 5.000.000 degrees, outgoing and incoming.

Seriously though, no idea. Could be any biker thing. They must be still in production, as I can't see them being the same ones from 20 years ago, with all that wild moving and grooving' goin on. The jackets are Schott 613's though. There's even a special "GW" model.

    • Genesee Cream Ale is gross. I buy a cheap 30-pack of it and keep it in the shed in case my bandmates stop over. I will admit that when the Packers won the Super Bowl the last time, i had been on the wagon for about 8 months, and fell off with some big cans of Genessee Cream Ale and Ice, because it had just made its way to Wisconsin at that point and i hadn't had it yet. The price is right though, and, as the Ross the Boss of the Dictators once said, "sometimes quantity IS quality!" ((i think it was Ross the Boss, anyway!))

Insane stuff by the people that brought you NO MORE HEROES & SHADOWS OF THE DAMNED. Japanese gangster overdrive action is sure to take place. Go to about 1:50 of the trailer for some in game bits and loads of crazy shit. Sorry Kopper, there's no Wii version planned...

    • What did I watch? Hmmm"Mothra Vs. Godzilla" (aaka "Godzilla Vs. The Thing.") , the Japanese version. "A FACE IN THE CROWD " with Andy Griffith , Patricia Neal and Walter Mathau. Andy is OVERTHE TOP !!!!  i THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO START LAUGHING AT HIS OWN JOKES !

I CAN'T RECOMMEND THIS FILM HIGHLY ENOUGH.

JUST FINISHED THE AB FAB box set. YEAH , I'M STRAIGHT.  AND I LOVE AB FAB. WHAT OF IT?!       BUT , TO ASSERT MY MACHO DEMEANOR , I ALSO JUST WATCHED THIN LIZZY , LIVE AT ROCKPALAST , '81. THEY WERE ON THEIR WAY OUT BY THEN , BUT , IT'S A  GOOD PERFORMANCE. PLUS , THEY DO "TRoUBLE BOYS" by Dave Edmunds.

A while back , I watched "Elvis , Prince From a Another Planet" , a DOCUMENTARY OF , AMAZINGLY , HIS ONLY NYC APPEARANCE (Barring TV spots.) AT mADISON SQUARE GARDEN. HE REALLY PEAKED , EARLY , IN HIS POSTROCK COMEBACK. '69 and '7O WOULD HAVE BEEN THE TIME TO SEE HIM , IF YOU HAD A TIME MACHINE MADE IN vEGAS. IN '72 , HIS MARRIAGE WAS FALLING APART , HE WAS PUTTING ON WEIGHT, HE WAS SELF - MEDICATING , BUT , HE LOOKED AND SOUNDED GOOD IN THE RESTORED FAN FOOTAGE FROM THE MSG CONCERT. LENNY KAYE , WHO ATTENDED THE SHOW , IS BROUGHT IN AS A CONSULTANT , AND WROTE THE LINERS.....TOO BAD NOBODY GOT FOOTAGE OF ELVIS MAKING SNIDE REMARKS AT HIS NEW LABELMATE , DAVID BOWIE , IN FULL ZIGGY CARB (WHAT WAS HE THINKING?!) . THE SET INCLUDES THE TWO COMMERCIALLY RELEASED CDs OF THE SHOW , WITH CLEANED UP SOUND.

    • Fuggin' HEMLOCK GROVE on Netflix is excellent, complex, gory and obviously not made by or for the usual idiots. Also I like GIRLS, NURSE JACKIE, GAME OF TITS...err...GAME OF THRONES

      (tons of gore and nudity)

    • I'd never heard of him. What a terrible story , but, it seems  like he got around his severe handicap. Not saying it sounds like he led a full life.....We had a man on the CTA trains they sometimes called "Burnman" , he was hideously disfigured , like someone had thrown acid on him (Which is probable.), or survived a horrific fire. He held a crude sign , saying he was raisng money for surgery. When he died , a few years back , it was revealed that he was offered free reconstructive surgery by a local hospital. But , it turned out , some piece of shit PIMP was pocketing the money "Burnman" collected on the train, and he'd thereatened to kill him if he pursued the idea of getting teh surgery done . BTW , Anyone wanting to read about "The Green Man" , remember to look under "Others " , or you'll be reading about a British Novelist , The President of Trinidad and Tobago , an Aborigine leader , or even Ray Charles !

    • Lords of Salem was incredibly psychedelic and cryptic--the kind of film that they don't make anymore and that rubs a lot of modern audiences the wrong way without everything being predicable and spelled all out for you. Definitely a cut above the rest and goes right where almost all modern horror films since the 80's have gone wrong.

    • Thanks. You see , "In Flame" had , I believe , an extremely limited run in the states when it came out , but , if it did , at all , it was too British and too bleak, even for their American fans (Of which my Brother was one. He had all but their first two LPs , which were VERY hard to find ,here. i DON'T EVEN HAVE "BALLZY' , and people say it's just as well......).....They'd have probably done better with subtitles , HA HA (I UNDERSTAND MOST  OF IT.) . I remember hearing so much about Slade around 73 - 74 , I thought they'd already made it here. "Jane " and "Noize" made the top 100  and I remember them both getting moderate airplay. But , like most people , here ,I finally saw the movie when it was released on DVD. i , TOO, WAS SURPRISED TO FIND IT WAS not HUMORLESS , BUT NOT REFLECTIVE OF THE NUTTER PERSONALITIES THEY , ESPECIALLY DAVE , CONVEYED. Still , their acting abilities are  surprising.

Noddy's portrayal of a Screaming Lord Sutch type character is telling (as well as fun.). It's like he's saying , I will not become an Oldies or Cabaret act like the early English Rockers , I will ride out into the sunset. How D'you Ride?

But , that would never happen. You don't think the REAL Slade would get half a million Pounds , or more , to do a one - off reunion gig? They don't even know how huge it'd be.I heard they were offered Reading , but Noddy refused to do it , unless they were following , not preceding , Bon Jovi. You  know the Jersey Boys would have jumped in the ocean and swam home , rather than follow even an underrehearsed Slade. Well , when they were still (Barely) together, I'd hoped they'd do one club tour of The US.....Andy Scott's Sweet already had. They packed the place in '89 OR '90 , WITH JUST TWO ORIGINAL MEMBERS.

    • Cant get the embedded for reasons that will become obvious. This caused a real stink in Britain a few years back. Chris Morris at his very very dark best. If you don't understand irony and are easily offended, don't watch. Morris takes a very sideways swipe at how media can often enflame very passionate subjects and throws it right back in their faces. Genius!

    • Just watched "Dr. Satan" , a Mexican Crime/Horror movie about a Doctor who uses his office as a front for a counterfieting ring. Turns out , he's made a deal with the Devil (A cool , shadowy figure with giant wings.), partly for wealth , but mainly to turn his enemies into zombies (REAL ones ,no radiation, nor cannibalism , involved.). His eyes light up. Interpol wants him , but he has too much power , and can control anyone. He asks the DEVIL'S PERMISSION TO STEAL MEN'S SOULS . NOT REALIZING HIS SOUL already belongs to ol' Beelzebub (whom he calls "Rey Diablo" or King Devil.), BEFORE HE'S LEFT THIS EARTH.

It's an almost Expressionistic , though low budget , film. Some of the soundtrack sounds like John Cage and Stockhausen having a violent domestic dispute. RECOMMENDED.
