The Pierced Arrows still play out pretty often here in Portland, OR... they open'd for The Sonics when they played.

I keep meaning to see Unknown Passage, I don't believe its on UK netflix and there is no uploads on youtube :(
I got to see pierced arrows a year or so ago in a tiny club in N.C. They were awesome. They did quite a bit of new stuff and played a few dead moon songs (54 40 or fight!) all to a crowd of about 12 people but they played like it was 12,000.
First version I ever heard, back in Junior High, was Blue Cheer's.
You have a point about Mose. Always thought he was asking light of the subject matter. "All I ever did was kill my wife..."
Yes, Mose's version always struck me as kind of an anti-blues... too giddy and upbeat for the subject matter. Lots of people have covered it, The Kingston Trio's mod version is pretty great too, but Dead Moon's rendition really sells the story of being stuck in a work farm chain gang in one of the gnarliest prisons of the time. Nothing against Mose, his catalog speaks for itself. I just think he flopped it on this one.
He will be missed... so sorry to hear of it.

I mentioned this in the other thead, but the first Undertones album. the new wave version of "true confessions" throws that album off pretty badly. the rest of it I love though.
Mc5- Back in the Usa would be the perfect album if not for "let me try".
As a compliment to the topic, "Albums With One Good Song," what about the albums that would be perfect if it weren't for that one terrible song? When I was little, the first rock album that I became obssessed with was Sgt Pepper. I loved every minute with the exception of "Within You, Without You." It drove my 8 year old self crazy, "Why so long? Why no chorus?" Perhaps the only positive thing about digital albums is the ability to delete that one song.
I sure don't agree with all those choices -- Sex Pistols especially. I also have to confess that I've also enjoyed TV on the Radio and Animal Collective.
And The Eagles are some of the greatest musicians in modern history.
( Not really. I just wanted to see if Kopper spit beer on his computer screen. Eagles should be on top of the Suck List)

Yeah, Pennywise sucks, too. In fact, they're probably worse cuz they just ripped off NOFX.
Yeah, I've never understood all that Warped Tour "punk," maybe because I've never been a teenage boy.
Thats a good article, I have to disagree with the inclusion of the Sex Pistols in that list though!

Just curious, does anybody know of articles and playlists for songs that follow the Rivingtons papa-oom-mow-mow patterns? Were they the first ones using that vocal "riff"?
i love that Shutdown 66 comp too. Some total downers on it in the best way
the only thing i dislike on the first undertones album is that new wave version of teenage confessions. i agree with that Sylvain Sylvain lp though.
Link Cromwell and the Zoo (Lenny Kaye): "Crazy Like a Fox" from the Crazy Like a Fox - Lenny Kaye 1966 LP on Norton. I'm sorry, but the rest of that album is just a real snoozer.
