send it to me! I work at KSJS, I have good saying power in rotation/adds for the rock dept and have my own show there.
Near me, there's also KFJC, KZSC and KSCU. Try KDVS too.
I'm looking for some cool outlets to get my band's music out to. Can y'all help me find the good online, underground, college or other stations or show I can send music to?
Hey, Fidlar are way cool, I'll be looking into them.
Lets see.... I went to the Redwood Bar near the end of summer and saw The Maxines (most recent is the the Drugstore 7") and Magic Trash (The Way I'm Livin' 7" e.p.) It was a spectacular night with Wounded Lion headlining.
And then like I tell everybody that'll listen, the Hideout Comps have never let me down.
Also, a band I've yet to see (I don't get out like I usedta could) but am very excited about is the Savage Gospel, a duo featuring Brian Waters (Flash Express, Countdowns) and Jorge from the Red Onions.

I gotta second fidlar. My first impression/pithy summation of them was that they are kinda like if the black lips were a socal skate/punk band. They quickly became my favorite band in L.A. They've also blown up quite quickly so hopefully the backlash doesn't start too soon because they're a great band.

FIDLAR, Head on Electric (H.o.D), Van Buren Boys, Ty Segall,
Hey gang! Hope you've all had an opportunity to check out and download the latest volume of the Hideout Comp Series, "Garage Monsters"! It's quite a whopper, clocking in with 33 tracks and over an hour and 37 minutes! Those of you who are active enough here to qualify for membership in our exclusive GRGPNK Records group (gotta be a comp band member, zine writer/radio show/podcast DJ or post on this site several times per month to qualify) can get this sucker (along with the previous 8 volumes) for free, while the rest of ya deadbeats gotta pay for it... but that's no sweat at just $10 or less on the various download sites, right? In fact, I just spotted Garage Monsters over on eMusic, so if you've got a membership there you can go grab the whole thing for just $5.99. We also have it for sale in our Bandcamp store for $9.99 and it should be available VERY soon on iTunes, Zune, Amazon.com, etc.
Don't miss out, though! This is thee perfect soundtrack for your HOWL-O-WEEN shenanigans!!! And I ain't lyin'!
New and now bands I'm digging? Two newish bands in Denver -- Thee Dang Dangs and The Blue Rider. Also, first heard of Thee Outlets yesterday, and really like them...kinda wish they were on the bill for our Molotow show in a couple weeks. Also digging Holy Wave outta Austin, but they're really a drone psych band, not so much garage.
We've all seen various versions of this, right?

I just realised the text says " Talkin' 'bout you" (or could be: talking about Girls?). My english´s not really good...sorry folk!
Maybe The Gravediggers V made a cover(?). Ask Leighton Koizumi! ;)
That actually may be the band. The vocals and way of singing are very similar.
The djs that played that night were king kosta, kid border, and joe travolta.
I contacted soulcat about a year ago, they messaged kid border, and he said that King Kosta was probably who played it but no one knew where he was...
Thanks for replying. I wish to go back to that amazing bar.
I´m pretty sure the last two notes of the recording (two firsts of a new song) are yes the Sonics but "Have Love, Will Travel", not Psycho.
By the way, the song you´re looking for could be "Night of the Phantom" by The Gravedigger V. I believe to recognize Leighton Koizumi´s voice and the song is this one i guess, or very similar... but sounds like a live recording, not the original version.

I know the Soulcat in Berlin, who was the Dj at that time?
Great song indeed. I'm still trying to find it. Anyone's got an idea?
For me the best comps are
1/The big itch volumes 1 - 8
2/Bug out volumes 1 -3
3/ Forbidden dog food (lux interiors tape mix)
4/Cough syrup for elvis impersonators
It goes without saying the already mentioned scum of the earth , wavy gravy, and born bad,
Although not readily available the JR Williams cds are essential.
Don't play with food !!!
Saw this performance of a one-off joke noise-garage band made up of of some members of a garage band I like called The Scramms and some artists, calling themselves "Good Food AKA Snack Party".
The bassist/singer put a Drumstick ice cream cone in the mic stand and made a sandwich....then started "playing" bass with the sandwich and bread crumbs were flying everywhere while he ate some ice cream and then passed the "mic" to the crowd... occasionally eating from his watermelon necklace....he had to make 3 sandwiches during the course of the 2 song performance, and the only barely audible lyrics seemed to be "I like food, let's eat some food, I eat it up, mmmmm food"
Drummer wore a pig mask and played with hot dogs...went through two packs.
Guitarist had a bowl of Doritos and would use one as a pick for like 2 seconds and then grab another...eventually grabbing a block of cheese and grating it on the strings.
Then they pulled a Totino pizza outta the oven and had a food fight with the crowd....
Now don't get me wrong, I hate noise-focused bands (it's just not my thing), and trust me, the "songs" they played were terrible, but I was laughing for all 3 minutes of their 2 song set and so were they.
This pic is from maybe 10 seconds into their set...by the end there was enough bread on the ground to feed all the pigeons in town.
It was kinda magical...just wanted to share. I have some video if anyone wants to see it I can upload it on my page...I don't know, maybe it's not as funny if you weren't there.
